Detailed Reviews
Me and my wife stayed for a getaway weekend at one of the cottages. We had a great time. The cottages are in a great location close to alot of different things in Lancaster. The young lady working the office was very nice the day we checked in and was very helpful. We like these better than a hotel or motel because they mind you of a little cabin. You will have neighbours but that didn't bother us. The cottage seemed to be pretty sound proof. The walls looked to be freshly painted not so long ago and we loved the bright colors. The cottage was clean but the only complaint was it could use a good cleaning near the baseboard next to the carpet throughout the cottage. We will return in the future and recommend this place to anyone. Thanks for a great stay!!!

My family really loved our stay here. It was clean and quiet, but a short drive to restaurants, attractions, etc. If you’re a fan of aviation, the municipal airport is right next door (but planes do not take off in the early morning or at night, so your sleep isn’t disturbed). My favorite part was that each room has its own “front porch,” which was a lovely place to end a day of shopping, sightseeing, etc. with a glass of wine.

It’s adjacent to a little tiny airport. They don’t take off at night, they start taking off around 8am and the last flight is around 6pm so we didn’t have any sleep trouble but it’s something to note for others who might.
We smoked outside our door, asked the neighbors if it was okay and if they can smell anything and they could-not (rooms 41 &42 right-next to each other).. I think they resealed the doors bc of previous reviews about it, it’s no longer an issue!
There is no staff onsite from 4pm-8am, tho they give you a phone number if you want to try reaching them.
There were no checkout instructions so when I went to turn in the key (Around 9am) no one was at the front so I just left it in the room.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and I was sad to leave! We are already planning another trip and we will be staying here again!!

I have been staying at the cottages for at least 20 years & I doubt that I will be returning. When the family owned them they were always doing something to maintain them. Now that this group purchased the lodge & cottages, they have not done a thing with them other than raise the price. I knew things were not good when I received an email to call a number to check in, and found that there is zero staff on property! How do you run a business that way? My thoughts were confirmed when I arrived and entered the 1990 room. The TV was one that I had at least 30 years ago, the bathroom was in despair, and I think I would of had better nights sleep in my car, than in those original, brick-hard beds. I travel a lot and do not spend this much money to stay in far nicer places. It is sad to see a business that the family put their heart and soul into go downhill because a corporation bought them out. Based on recent reviews and what I dealt with the past few days, I predict the cottages will not be around much longer. It used to be no vacancy all of the time, and this time there were 4 cars in the parking lot.

I have stayed here a few times in the past and needed accommodations in Lancaster again and I didn't look anywhere else than here. This time I had my elderly mom with me, who has some mobility issues, and the room was very spacious and there were no problems getting a wheel chair maneuvered around the room, nor any problems with mom using the walker in the room.
The setting is great, very quiet aside from the occasional private airplane from the small airport right behind the property, but that was only during the day. The room was clean and there were enough linens on hand so we didn't need anything for our two-day stay. About the only complaint would be that the sink drain did not close completely so the basin could not be filled with water, and the toilet paper holder is behind the door when it is open. Normally not a problem for most folks, but with mom and the walker etc. closing the door wasn't happening which made the TP hard to get to.
I am definitely keeping this place as my first choice for staying in the Lancaster area.

A bit difficult getting our reservation but then it went well. We were able to get our favorite rooms - have been there several times in the past. The faucet in our bathroom was hard to figure out - didn't work correctly but everything else was great. Cottages are off set so you don't hear other guests - plenty of privacy, clean rooms and located near everything we were interested in. The staff was very accommodating and the air conditioner was very quiet. Plan to go back again .

Great experience. Cottage was comfortable and clean. Had a mini fridge and microwave. Located in a very quiet secluded area. Beautiful landscaping and flowers. There were only a few minor things that keep this from 5 stars.
1. There was no hand soap? They provide shampoo, conditioner and lotion. I’ve never stayed at a hotel that didn’t have bars of soap?
2. The shower head is SUPER low. I’m only 5’6” and I had to bend down to rinse my hair.
3. Cell service can be spotty and they are doing checkin over the phone. I lost the call once and when I got connected again I still had trouble understanding. Once I got the code for the keys, all was fine.
Only 5 minutes from Amish tours and food, and 10 minutes from sight & sound.
Overall good experience and would stay there again!

This is a charming, older property on a beautifully landscaped site set back from the road and is conveniently located to area attractions. As others have noted, it borders a small airport which we found fascinating rather than disruptive. The room was generous and included a small coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave. Although the property appears to have been well-maintained over time, the rooms and furnishings would benefit from more attention. I found the remote check-in and absence of onsite staff odd, especially for a small motel, and would have felt uncomfortable had I been traveling alone.

We’ve stayed here for about 7 years in a row (except during Covid) while participating in the half marathon. Location is great and they are quaint cottages. However, these cottages are older and each year we’ve stayed they have continued to feel a little less kept up. This year our bathroom didn’t even appear it had been cleaned prior to our arrival. The mattresses are very old and the sheets/quilts didn’t smell the greatest either. And to top it off, when we woke up this morning to prepare for the race, there was absolutely no water! Evidently the entire location had no water. While there were severe storms that went through last night, as of 4:30 am the water was working and that was after the storms.
We’ve stayed at the cottages all these years because they are cute and quaint, the price is reasonable and we’ve always enjoyed it; however, after our experience this year, we will be staying somewhere else.

Thought this place was a gem at first. Location close to attractions and cleanliness was fantastic, except for water pressure in the shower. We were very happy to have our own separate entrance, however we were never told that there was a little runway for small planes that literally flew in and out till 9pm. Then at 1220 am couple walked in our room. All we heard was the door being kicked open, not sure how their key fit into our door. I will admit that our deadbolt would not line up with the door jam, but then that’s absolutely why I know that I locked the bottom door. This place is impossible to get thru to , we called the number we made the reservation thru and they said they would let the owners know, we waited a few days for a response. After a few days I finally went on their website and wrote and explained the situation in the contact section. Someone did get back to us via email and it was not the owners. Poor management for sure and lack of communication. Never saw anyone in office not even check in or check out. MIA

I would call them to inquire. In the cottage we had we had to step over the side of the tub for the shower.
We do not offer breakfast but there are wonderful restaurants close by
The wifi is super fast - we just upgraded it in May
Yes, we have converted our rooms that had one queen and futon into rooms with a king bed (no futon as they were in horrid shape) We have 4 such rooms on property. The balance of our rooms have two queen beds.
No, we do not allow pets at the Spruce Lane Lodge and cottages; however, we do own a property just 5 miles away that does allow dogs. The Harvest Drive Family Inn 717-768-7186
