This was our first time away from home in almost two years, and we couldn’t have picked a better place. Our room was spacious and comfortable, we loved the craftsman style interior, and Gilja made the most delicious breakfasts. We will be back.
My friend and I stayed at Kennett House for 3 nghts. The inn has a policy that all guests must be vaccinated. I had the Wyeth Room and she had the Delaware Room. Both rooms had excellent beds and nice bathrooms with toiletries provided, and the Delaware Room had a small sitting room where you could see how thick the granite walls of the house were. My room was chlly but the heater provided made it comfortable. There are nice sitting rooms on the ground floor and second floor for guest use, with brochures about all kinds of things to do in the area. The highlight for us was the house and meeting Gilja, the owner/host. She prepared beautiful breakfasts, shared her story and the history of the house. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There was free parking on the street. We enjoyed our stay.…
My friends and I stayed at Kennett House B and B for three nights to attend the local gardens and check out Kennett Square. What a delightful B and B, full of character, great service, wonderful breakfasts and the perfect location for walking downtown. We had two rooms for the three of us which worked out well. We could meet between the two rooms in a sitting area with games, a small refrigerator full of water and snacks. It was very comfortable and a good location to chat with other guests. There is a wide front porch with rocking chairs that we made good use of every morning and afternoon with coffee or a snack. Every morning of our stay Gilja (the host) had coffee and breakfasts ready for us at our requested times. Each breakfast was very good. French toast with scrambled eggs, mushroom omelet with bacon, blueberry pancakes with sausage. Each meal was served with juice and a lovely fruit presentation. We ate in a little room off the dining room away from the other guests who were coming in to eat as we were finishing up. Very safe set up because of covid. Gilja shared a few kitchen items we needed for a snack one afternoon and gave us ice for our cooler another afternoon. Very accomodating. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds, nice sheets and amazingly soft towels. At no time did I feel unsafe because of covid or any other reason. The house is always locked and we had a pass code to enter. I would be happy to return !…
We decided to stay at Kennet House because the reviews were good. The outside of the house is in need of repair and landscaping. The inside is dark and our room was very disappointing. We had a small bedroom that was clean, but the adjoining room had two worn rugs on the floor and a rusted vent for heat. What really took me by surprise was the old blanket and pillows on the couch. With covid, they should have been removed. I spent most of the time thinking that the couch and pillows were not covid safe. It was also very warm in the room and it needed much updating. The bathroom was clean and nicely appointed. The owner/operator disappeared after checking us in, but as my title states, she made an incredible breakfast in a lovely room. I believe this could be a very good B&B, but it definitely would not be a place we would return.…
Probably one of the best B&B’s we have ever stayed at. Cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Restaurants are just a short walk and Longwood Gardens is a 3 mile drive. Will return when weather warms up.
The house is lovely and clean, great character. Perfect distance from everything. Our host was welcoming and gracious. She cooked an amazing breakfast for us on our first morning. When I forgot my notebook at the B&B, she mailed it to me within a couple of days - amazing service!!
We stayed here for a night when we had reservations to eat at Talula's Table. Very convenient, as it is only a few blocks away. Easy check in, very clean, little surprises like bottled water and some candies. The BEST part was the breakfast. Truly a gourmet breakfast with fruit and French toast. We will be back the next time we go to Talula's Table.
We stayed here for a weekend while visiting Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, the Brandywine Museum, and the John James Audubon House. (And Victory Brewing!) Gilja was accommodating with our late check-in and showed us right to our room. We had the Brandywine room and my only complaint about it was that on their website the room has a 4-poster bed but in reality it does not; they need to update that. Breakfast was delicious both days. We esp liked that we could get tickets to some things (Brandywine museum, Winterthur) included in our room price. It's a lovely B & B and I recommend it highly.
The room was perfect , (though it got hot in the middle of the night). It was difficult to find by GPS as it brought us to the front, where there was no access. So, parking is on the side and it’s street parking. Check-in was a bit disappointing as we were directed to sit down and then, in the middle of the payment process, the screen was turned to us with a choice to check which amount of tip to leave?!? Choices were 15%, 20% or 25%! I was never before pressured to give a tip at a B&B. It was awkward. Breakfast was great and plentiful. The granite construction is something you will never see built again, so, it’s worth a visit if you enjoy architecture.
We like B & B's and this is a GREAT B&B. Gilja is a consummate hostess and her inn is top-notch! Great breakfast and lovely surroundings. If you are looking for a convenient and reasonably priced B & B, this is the place!
