Paintings, pictures, stain glass windows and artifacts from the past two centuries that are elegantly and strategically displayed in each room. A spectacular Oak stairway carved by skilled woodworkers newly arrived from the old country in the 1800s. Jeffri and Michael are the gracious host and both are Culinary Chefs that provide a delicious gourmet breakfast worth the visit. They are very knowledgeable in the sites and history of Jim Thorpe and can provide you with all the information you need for a perfect stay.

I can't top all the other 5 star reviewers, so I'll just echo their collective enthusiasm. We have been bed & breakfasters for decades, and without question, this was the best experience of all. I will however toss out a future challenge: The house pooch ("Pearl") is an adorable small hound mix, adopted by Michael and Jeffri, and was unfortunately abused by her prior owners, subsequently she is shy and hesitant to let you pet her. As dog lovers, my wife and I were determined to gain her trust. After a day and a half of no progress, I was reading a book around 7:00 AM in the living room. Pearl entered the room so I dangled my arm down the side of the chair. Soon she made contact and let me gently scratch her back, then head, then ears. Michael saw this and came in to take a picture, and suddenly Pearl jumped onto my lap - evidently a first. I was reluctant to let her leave, but breakfast was served, and there was NO WAY I was going to miss that.

Perfect place to stay for couples, pampered by Michael & Jeffri the entire stay, gourmet breakfasts each morning, usually a story goes along with each of the 3 courses offered each morning. The whole house feels like you walked into a museum that you are allowed to enjoy the entire stay. Each guest room is filled with collections they've acquired from their travels all of the world. The view from the doc suite and the turret suite are the best. The doc suite is our absolute favorite, 3 rooms all to yourself, lots of windows and 2 turrets to look out on the town. A coffee/tea station, small fridge, a carafe of Jim thorpe water and snacks are included in each stay. Michael & Jeffri are only too happy to help you with a dinner reservation or suggestions on where to go or what to do during your stay. A nice touch too is the hershey kisses on the bedside tables to enjoy each night. You leave refreshed and we always rebook when we check out for another stay in the future. They fill up quickly for weekend stays, we enjoy going during the weekdays. The town is very walkable which also makes the location of the Dolon house so great. You have a parking space on the property and can enjoy many places to eat and shop within walking distance. There's also a train ride, museums and mansions to enjoy.

My husband and I booked our 16th wedding anniversary weekend away at The Dolon House. It was one the best decisions we have ever made! The Dolon House is beyond beautiful. It has wonderful, old Victorian charm in every room!! Michael and Jeffri are wonderful hosts! They are so very friendly and welcoming. The make you feel like family the first moment you walk through the door. My husband and I felt like we had known them our whole lives! It was so lovely just chatting with them through out the weekend! The breakfast is outstanding! It's not your typical coffee, muffins, fruit, and yogurt. Oh no! You are treated to a delicious three course meal that will be some of the most delicious food you have EVER eaten! It like a work of art, almost too beautiful to eat (notice I said almost!) Michael serves while Jeffri cooks. Michael tells the most fascinating stories during breakfast. Stories about the Dolan house, Jim Thorpe, coal mining, the railroad,.etc. I was just mesmerized by his stories! Michael and Jeffri both have great recommendations for things to do in the area and places to eat. They will help you make any reservations that you might want. Our weekend away was so wonderful that before we checked out, we booked another stay for a weekend in the Fall. We are already looking forward to being back at The Dolon House!! Thank you Michael and Jeffri. We will see you soon!

My husband and I had stayed for a weekend at The Dolon House to celebrate our birthdays and anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better choice! The Victorian home in itself is beautiful and inviting with all kinds of beautiful and interesting antiques and collectibles in each room you enter. We stayed in the "Blue Room" which you can see the Opera House right outside your window. The room is very comfortable and has a wonderful personality on it's own which every room has after taking a tour with Jeffrey. Jeffrey and Michael both have such wonderful personalities and make your stay very pleasurable in any way they can! The breakfast is a delicious 3 course 5 star breakfast while Jeffrey does the cooking and Michael serves and explains every single plate. While eating, Michael gives you a lot of wonderful ideas of things that you can do and places to go in the town of Jim Thorpe, and also tells you interesting stories and history of The Dolon House and the surrounding areas. It's the little things that also make a big difference like having fresh flowers that are placed in the vases, thoughtful snacks, coffees and teas in your room, while sitting on the porch they have an Alexa so you can play your favorite music while sipping on a glass of wine and if you need to make any reservations for dinner at one of the local restaurants, they are more than happy to do that for you. Jeffrey and Michael are both such a pleasure and they couldn't have made our stay more memorable and inviting! We can not wait to go back there again!
