We decided to take a little pre spring trip somewhere with friends and chose Jim Thorpe as our destination, mostly because we had always read such nice things about it and it wasn't too far from home.
After some research and based upon reviews, we chose the Dolon House Bed and Breakfast. To say the least, we were not disappointed.
The owners, Michael and Jeffri (that's the correct spelling) made our stay so enjoyable. Michael is the historian of the area and Jeffri is the cook. A perfect combination, in my opinion.
Each breakfast consists of 3 coursed, so sit back, relax and enjoy every bite.
They travel the area and shop specialty shops and grocery stores to find different and unique ingredients. The coffee is outstanding and, if you prefer tea, they offer wonderful varieties.
The house itself is a work of art, so wander around and take it all in.
Jeffri and Michael and most welcoming and truly make you feel at home,. By the way, they are also funny.
The rooms are well equipped with a Keurig coffee maker, small refrigerator, snacks, ice bucket with ice and modern bathrooms. Enjoy?

What a great stay. The Dolan House was built in 1884 and has beautiful charm and nice amenities. Our host Michael and Jeffrey were so welcoming, warm and friendly. They got us settled in the blue room which they upgraded us to with no extra charge. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious. There was a small refrigerator in the room with bottled water, ice bucket filled with ice and creamer for the in room coffee maker.( with choices in coffee types and different tea choices.). The breakfast was a true culinary experience. The dining room had small intimate tables for the couples (mainly for Covid reasons). However Michael our host made our conversations between tables and himself easy. During our exquisite breakfast prepared by Jeffrey, Michael would make suggestions of things to see and do around Jim Thorpe and every made recommendations for restaurants in the area. We had a wonderful time and planning the next trip to the Doland House. Kudos to our host., well done, well done!

My husband and I haven't taken time off in a year and with the impact of COVID, we felt the need to escape for a weekend. We love B&B's and hubby's research brought us to The Dolon House in the town of Jim Thorpe, PA. I had never heard of this town, but once we arrived we were so excited. It's nestled in the valley of the mountains and brings you back to a slower pace with an abundance of things to do. We took a more relaxed approach as we just needed to stop for a minute and exhale a bit, even if we had to do it through masks.

The Dolon House was the PERFECT spot for us to land. Michael and Jeffri are incredible innkeepers who have done an amazing job not only upgrading and decorating, but also creating an environment to make you feel relaxed and welcomed. We stayed in "Doc's Suite" which was roomy, spacious and was recommended by Michael and Jeffri as their favorite room in the house and now I highly recommend this suite! In room coffee maker and fridge.

The breakfasts were served at 9 AM sharp! And they were simply amazing. My husband had some challenging dietary restrictions that we shared ahead of time and Jeffri and Michael went out of their way to accommodate his needs. I know this can be frustrating in the service industry, but they were so gracious and helpful. We can't thank them enough for this kindness. I will say each meal was a gourmet feast served with love. Each breakfast was served in 3 courses, an amuse-bouche to wet your appetite, a custard or yogurt served with beautiful fruit with homemade granola, along with a main dish of a savory bread pudding for our first morning and an outstanding potato, ham, cheese roulade on our second morning. All served with wonderful juice, coffee, teas and on Sunday a surprise sparkling rose.

After breakfast, we rented bikes and explored, went for long walks, shopped in the charming stores, ate delicious meals at Moya and Broadway Grille and topped off each night with ice cream. In summary, this was a 90 min drive from NJ for us, but it felt like we were a million miles away. Thank you Michael and Jeffri. We cannot wait to come back.

Perfect place to stay for couples, pampered by Michael & Jeffri the entire stay, gourmet breakfasts each morning, usually a story goes along with each of the 3 courses offered each morning. The whole house feels like you walked into a museum that you are allowed to enjoy the entire stay. Each guest room is filled with collections they've acquired from their travels all of the world. The view from the doc suite and the turret suite are the best. The doc suite is our absolute favorite, 3 rooms all to yourself, lots of windows and 2 turrets to look out on the town. A coffee/tea station, small fridge, a carafe of Jim thorpe water and snacks are included in each stay. Michael & Jeffri are only too happy to help you with a dinner reservation or suggestions on where to go or what to do during your stay. A nice touch too is the hershey kisses on the bedside tables to enjoy each night. You leave refreshed and we always rebook when we check out for another stay in the future. They fill up quickly for weekend stays, we enjoy going during the weekdays. The town is very walkable which also makes the location of the Dolon house so great. You have a parking space on the property and can enjoy many places to eat and shop within walking distance. There's also a train ride, museums and mansions to enjoy.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights in July. This place is amazing. And I’m not usually a B&B person. Right out of the box, Michael, one of the owners told us we were upgraded to their best room. This room is a corner suite that overlooks the Mauch Chunk theatre and Broadway St, the main road in the town. It’s so elaborately (but also tastefully) furnished that I felt like I was in Italy.
The character, charm and decor of this place are truly hard to describe. The owners’ taste and attention to detail is spectacular.
The service level from the moment you walk in the door is better than I’ve had in many other places. The owners are always ready to help. Michael even helped us carry up our bags
The breakfast is spectacular. It consists of three very tasty original courses cooked by Jeffri who is a chef by profession. The whole serving ritual is like watching a broadway performance.
The location is very good - in the heart of this very quaint town, walking distance from every major attraction.
And now a word about Jim Thorpe (once called Mauch Chunk). It markets itself as the little Switzerland of the Pocano and that’s in fact how it looks - it’s a tiny beautifully maintained and historic town slap in the middle of the Lehigh Valley. A marvelous place to visit. It’s also almost midway between NY and Washington, a trip we do often to visit family.
We look forward to our next visit.

Michael and Jeffri have created something special here. My wife and I booked on a whim (less than a week out), for our anniversary, having never been that portion of the state, or to a B&B before.

We were greeted with a brief history of the town, and the house itself and were escorted to our rooms by Michael who assisted with our luggage. He provided a map of the town and outlined brief highlights and provided hours and restrictions (due to COVID). He even booked us a reservation for dinner on short notice.

It is located in the most central portion of town, making it perfect for exploration of all the boutiques, restaurants, train rides, bike trails, and other attractions. The outlying area is filled with other attractions like hiking, white water rafting, and state parks within a short driving distance. Your hosts are more than willing to provide you with detailed recommendations based on exactly what you are looking for.

The house itself is an architectural masterpiece, filled with eclectic art, antiques, and various collections each carrying a story if you're willing to indulge yourself, as they are part of their personal collection, reflecting their taste and experiences. Each of the guestrooms has a bit of a theme but is cohesive with the rest of the house. No hokey clutter here. Everything is very clean, and the attention to detail in every category is what makes this place shine.

Breakfast is equally as exquisite. A multi-course experience that is unique each day, prepared by Jeffri. Everything is locally sourced, with some items coming from the gardens of the property. They are accommodating to dietary restrictions, which did not apply to us, but I am sure are equally as creative and impressive.

The Dolon House is not just accommodation, it is an experience that highlights Michael and Jeffri's experience and successes in the hospitality industry. They deserve every kind word spoken around town, and every accolade they have achieved.

My fiance and I stayed here for a birthday celebration and we could not have been happier with the entire experience. The friendly owners/operators are masters of hospitality and it shows from the little touches throughout the room to the amazing cuisine served each morning. The property is dazzlingly beautiful and fascinating to explore. We could not have been more comfortable during our stay and I cannot recommend The Dolon House highly enough!

Before even arriving into Jim Thorpe I had several calls with Dolon House host and co-owner Michael whos voice, excitement and optimism made me feel more than welcome and so very excited for our stay. Every inch of this precious gem of a home was beautiful and historic and i wanted to wander to hall to see every inch of the building for a new surprise. We stayed two mores and i was happily surprised to get not 1 but a 3 course meal each different and delightful in their own way. Our lovely chef Jeffri immersed our taste buds with his very own creations that brought sunshine and warmth to our mornings.

Michael's selection of teas and tasteful coffees added to the experience giving us the full value of hospitality . Not to mention the special appearance of their adorable baby dog pearl. The three of them made our stay the best experience in the hospitality industry bar none. Our Blue room accommodation was comfortable as it was relaxing. The handmade soaps, local chocolates and wines showed us their deep love and applicate for their customers and their community. We cant thank them enough for their hard work and service to make us feel comfortable and we have already planned for our next trip to Jim Thorpe and play to stay at Dolon house again.

You will not be disappointed with a stay at The Dolon House. Michael and Jeffery’s passion for travel, art and collecting is evident in the carefully curated rooms. The moment you walk into living room you are made to feel at home as conversation is easy and casual. A history lesson of Jim Thorpe and Carbon County is certainly a guarantee. Breakfast is more than just breakfast as it showcases culinary creativity. If you are looking for gracious hosts and a wonderful place to stay then The Dolon House is for you. We will definitely be returning.

We were lucky to take a last minute trip to the Dolan House B&B last week and we are still floating with happy emotions from the experience. We have our own bed and breakfast and know how hard it is to have every detail just perfect. And our visit was just that. Every detail was perfect. Fascinating beautifully displayed museum-quality art covers every wall in the inn. The food is excellent and my special needs were perfectly met. The location is central so we easily walked the town and biked the riverside trail. Thank you, Michael and Jeffri for a wonderful get-away.

I would imagine the spring would be a good time to visit especially if you enjoy hiking and outdoor activities. Jim Thorpe is perfect if you want a little bit of everything. When we went we did why water rafting, went out drinking and dining, stayed in this beautiful b&b, and visited the cultural (prison/manor) sites. I would base it off of your desire to do activities like that and the temperature/weather you seek.
