I understand that a room underground has limited possibilities. no bathroom no TV. But the room is a bit tacky, plastic lawn chair, broken bed lamp. no shampoo or face washer. I understand country hospitality (coming from the country myself ) but I feel it lacks professionalism in all areas.

What a crazy little, once in a lifetime place! The accommodations are modest but comfy enough. It's not 5 star, but how often do you get to stay in a dugout? Sunrise and sunset on the roof were beautiful, and I've never seen so many stars. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable, and we loved it.

I think the people that complain about this motel need to remember that it is extremely remote and you cannot be expecting a "city standard" experience. Yes, it is on the expensive side for the facilities and food but you are in the middle of nowhere where supplies are only brought in weekly! If you are expecting fairly basic rooms...

What a place! You could never imagine staying somewhere underground that provided all amenities literally in the middle of nowhere. The family room was really comfortable and the boys didn't want to leave. Shared amenities were clean and easily available. The restaurant provided a good choice of freshly cooked food and considering the location - the pricing wasn't bad at...

Had a wonderful time staying a the Underground Motel. We were the sole occupants during this off season. The staff were attentive and accommodating and kind. The nightly dinner menu doesn't include a vegetarian option, but when I mentioned it they quickly put together a wonderful dinner that rivaled my friend's meat based ones! The pool was clean and cold...

After a very hot cross-country trip from Broken Hill, this was a wonderfully cool place to stay. Been on the 'bucket' list for some time and pleased we were finally able to stay there. Very interesting being underground with no views but there is a viewing area on the roof which overlooks the mining area. If you stay you must...

On a roadtrip in the outback in summer, we drove to White Cliffs from Broken Hill via Mutawintji. Obviously a hot trip with a cool hotel at the end. Cool in every way, cool in temperature and a cool experience to sleep in a dugout. We were the sole tourists (...) but could have taken dinner so in this sense...

Favourite part of my 4000km journey. A funny old town, old mining towns usually are though. Upon checking in we got lost in five minutes of getting underground (my partner had the map). They really really need to turn the light on in a guests room before they get to their accomodation, it took two grown adults to find a...

It was a hit all round...
