Black Bear Inn was an experience in itself. Where do I begin? Room - dirty and terribly old! Dust hanging from the ceilings, dusty and dirty carpets, (never vacuumed during 1 week stay) dusty bed sheets from the stuff that comes down from the ceiling Bathroom - mouldy, stinky, always wet shower curtain (who puts a thick cotton shower curtains... Black Bear Inn provides cosy accommodation at a great price by Thredbo standards. The accommodation is clean and has a few little nice touches such as the chocolate on the pillow. With a hearty breakfast included in the price and sensational views overlooking the Thredbo ski runs this is a place definitely worth staying at when visiting Thredbo at any... More

Absolutely terrible food. I asked for some olive oil for the bread and they bought 'a mix of vegetable oil and olive oil' that looked like canola oil. I sent it back and said forget it. Then the kids pasta came out uncooked. Had to send that back too. Overpriced rubbish Thredbo food again. Do yourself a favour and give... More

The comments you have written above are noted. As one of the owners of the Black Bear Inn business, I strongly object to your subject suggestion of ' Needs a new owner'. I find it difficult to understand how you can justify this comment from being disappointed about the dinner food you received whilst dining at the Black Bear Inn... More

Made a grueling 6-hour car trip from Sydney for Thredbo Winter Opening Weekend and was pleasantly welcomed by the warm staff at reception. Room was situated 2 floors down, thankfully we travelled light as there is no elevator. Well appointed guest room with comfy bed and clean bathroom with heater, the only downside - freshly painted walls gave us a... More

Returning to the Black Bear Inn after 25 years. Still as gorgeous as ever. Cosy well appointed room, comfortable bed, impressive view. The BB inn offers a unique opportunity to experience European style accommodation inAustralia, with delicious meals and intimate dining available in the restaurant and pre dinner drinks in the cosy bar area. Very hospitable hosts.

We had dinner at the Black Bear Inn in Thredbo in January 2015 and it was excellent. In fact it was so good that we decided to book again for Feb 2016 to celebrate a big milestone birthday. Sandy and the team went out of their way to make the evening special, not only was the food excellent (we were... More

Been there a few times now. The place just keeps growing on me. Good beer, great views, friendly staff, and really yummy food. The atmosphere is relaxed and the setting is one of the closest to an European ski resort tavern. Even with the relatively high prices is worth the visit!

Had a few good nights out just having drinks and enjoying the ambience. Tonight had a dinner and went back to our room quite full and satisfied. Portions are pretty big, and food is prepared in a stylish way with a great attention to deatail and taste.

Hosts called when we were late arriving on the "Snowy Ride" weekend to ensure all was ok. Road from Jindabyne is a bit sketchy with wildlife at night. Great place, cold beer and nice atmosphere. Bike friendly too!
