I did not know what to expect here - and it did not look like much from outside. But once I had checked in and went to my room, I was pleasantly surprised. I had a large spa room at the end of the building with a seperate living area and great views up the coast. Whilst it is undeniably dated, it has been really tastefully updated, is very comfortable and is absolutely immaculately clean and very well maintained. I had dinner with some local friends in the restaurant and it is not cheap, but very impressive and with a really good wine list. For quite a small town on the coast, this is a really good place to stay.

I had a (photography) trip to the far south coast of NSW last weekend and stopped overnight at Narooma. I should have stayed longer, so will definitely be back. And will certainly stay at The Whale Inn. The outside might look a little old and tired, but our room was spacious, modern, clean, quiet and great value for money! We travel with a dog which limits accommodation options, so I was absolutely delighted to find such a lovely clean dog-friendly hotel. Bonny Dog was even given a treat on arrival. And there are loads of great photo ops in and around Narooma. Highly recommend.

We stayed at The Whale for an overnight stop after a long day on the road. While hardly brand new, for what it was the room was large and well furnished, and the bed was so comfortable that we easily slept for 9 hours! Breakfast featuring fresh local ingredients was also a highlight.

Lovely views from the rooms, sadly couldn't sit outside and enjoy it on the veranda as it was used as a out of room smoking area, not a massive problem, shouldn't put you off staying in a lovely motel, restaurant was closed as it was Anzac Day, only a 100 or so meters to a smallish choice of eateries, most of which were observing Anzac Day themselves, excellent in room facilities, only a short walk to see Australia rock and the seals.

Travelling with a dog is not easy - and finding a place to take him is even harder. We were on a road trip and had planned a night in Narooma on our way back home. The Whale is well positioned with top views from many rooms. Unfortunatley the Dog Friendly room is not such a room - but it is large with a good bathroom and balcony. Parking almost at the door. Top restaurant in the complex or easy walk to pub - O'Brien's - with top views and food. Dog friendly. Worth a thought if you get there for the happy hour. Village/water is a bit of a walk but not hard. Good bed and shower. Large lounge area with single bed.
