Peppers Salt Resort & Spa Kingscliff offers a friendly atmosphere and a convenient location close to beaches and dining, which many guests appreciate. However, opinions on the hotel are mixed, with some travelers praising the spacious rooms and pool, while others are disappointed by the inconsistent room quality and housekeeping.
The value for money is frequently questioned due to overpriced services and unexpected charges. While the hotel boasts a number of amenities, the overall service and maintenance have room for improvement.

Detailed Reviews
Overall room was adequate, clean with reasonable bedding.
No blackout curtains in the bathroom, which allowed light into the bedroom due to a glass panel between bedroom and bathroom.
Room service, the QR code that you are encouraged to use, keep displaying an error so wasn’t available.
So I dialed room service, it rang three times then disconnected.
I repeated the above multiple times without
any result so I called reception and explained, they said that they would contact room service and have them call me back.
40mins later tried QR and room service direct again. Same result so called reception again….
Gentleman answered this time, I explained and he acknowledged my earlier call and would chase up.
No further contact from anyone.
I understand it’s rated as a 3 star resort, however there are obviously issues with their telephone/ IT systems which caused the problem.
But to acknowledge then ignore a customer request multiple times without any response is poor service.
A 3 star resort charging $250 per night without any basic customer service seems a bit expensive IMO

We spent three nights in a one bedroom spa suite as part of a Luxury Escapes package. This was our fifth such visit and it lived up to our past experience and expectations. Our ground floor room looked out onto the pool. It was fresh and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and my wife and I both remarked on the quality of the pillows. It's a shame that there are barely enough tea bags provided for one day when the booking is known to be for three. No trouble getting some more but it would save our time and staff time if they had just provided a reasonable number in the first place.
The buffet breakfast is outstanding and the staff friendly and efficient. Used crockery and cutlery cleared away almost instantly. A drink and meal at the Cove bar were OK and came in timely fashion. It's a shame that the Season restaurant was not open for dinner.
The pool area was quite untidy for my early morning swim but staff had attended to it fairly promptly by soon after breakfast.
The location has a lot going for it with beach access and a variety of dining choices - don't miss the French patisserie. Some other attractions close by as well and while the Chinderah golf course will never host the Australian Open it was perfectly OK for an interesting afternoon 18 holes.
All in all another pleasant stay. We will return.

Peppers Salt had many positives - nice pools, great location close to a pristine beach, a range of restaurants within walking distance. Spa, gym and activities available. Overall, a good resort experience. I was disappointed that we would have to pay to get clean/dry towel so we had soggy ones the entire stay (both pool and bath). The buffet breakfast had plenty of choices in a nice atmosphere but everythin was room temperature and you had to pay extra for barista coffee.

Didn't realise this room was really air bnb when booked online. As such after 9 hours travel resort reception not interested said can't help you that room is private. In very hot weather hubby has MS and needed to lay down. Took an extra hour of driving backwards and forward to find management service in town for keys. They said they sent emails but travelling all day I wasn't reading emails. It was also cheaper to just stay in a resort room.
The worst thing was being dismissed by the agency when picking up keys. If you don't fill out the online book in They dont answer the phone and give you the address to pick up your ffob. It's just so much mucking around. My licence wouldn't upload on the online form and there was no support at all.
Also the list of instructions snd warnings behind the door threatening the 150.00 extra cleaning fee spoilt the experience. We washed everything up and made sure it was tidy..I'm not sure cleaners come in to do more than make the bed. It's now 19 days since we stayed. They said the $100 security deposit was released on 9 December but it still is not in our bank account. Beware and take photos of everything. It's just a small basic room with a disabled bathroom and a tiny pool area big enough for one.

My partner and I were excited to celebrate an important milestone as loyal Accor hotels users and were thoroughly disappointed about our experience. For example, when we checked in, we found our room already covered in sand - even on the countertops. We followed up that evening and the next day using the contact details in the compendium, and despite daily housekeeping being included in my rate, no housekeeper came. [I appreciate that housekeeping depends on the room rate, so I checked my booking confirmation before writing this].
Most of the staff appeared preoccupied with chatting amongst themselves and, where I was able to speak to a staff member, I was left feeling awful for asking any questions (such as asking if there were pool towels available). Nonetheless, I thank the wonderful bar staff working on the evening of 18 November, we appreciated the friendly atmosphere and delicious Tommy’s Margaritas. Both of the staff we met were a credit to the Accor brand.
Accor members: I have some observations as a Gold Accor Plus member. As someone who is usually very loyal to Accor, I hate to air my thoughts online but have attempted to address but have received no response from contacting the hotel (per the details in the app and compendium).
I enquired with the hotel a week prior to my stay expressing my interest in the late check out benefit, should they have availability to accomodate it. To date, I have received no response.
On arrival, I presented two welcome drink vouchers, ordered two drinks, redeemed two drink vouchers in front of the staff and was provided with a single drink. I would understand if the bar was busy, but I was made to feel terrible for asking for the second drink that I had already redeemed.
After arriving in the unclean room, I enquired whether they had availability to accomodate the room upgrade benefit. The following day, which appeared to be a quiet Monday for the hotel, I enquired again about whether they had availability to accomodate the room upgrade. Please note that this could not have been accommodated behind the scenes as I was on the ground floor with a car park view in the booked room type.
I would completely understand if the hotel had no availability to accomodate any gold tier benefits, but I would have liked a response (or at the very least to receive the housekeeping service included in the room rate.)
I pay for Accor Plus to make getaways that little bit more special, and am usually delighted by the wonderful experience. If you are like us and hope to celebrate an important milestone through a getaway, I do not recommend staying at Peppers Salt - especially if you want to enjoy any of the benefits associated with the Accor brand.

Our stay was very disappointing and the service we have received after our stay has been even worse! When we arrived the bathroom mirror had the word “Ello” written on the mirror and the bathroom was not clean.
We paid extra for a plunge pool and when we got to our room and went to go for a swim there was a sign saying pool was closed due to maintenance however the date was from 2 weeks prior. We called reception to check and was told they would call us back, after 40 minutes we had to call again, they sent a cleaner up who didn’t know and was told to call back to reception. The staff in the reception area were rude and mocked me when I said I had paid a lot of money for the pool. We were then told they had no record of maintenance and that we could swim in the pool which we did and then the guests in the next room said they saw the pool being sprayed with chemicals that morning and were told by the pool man not to swim in it for at least 24 hours. We then went back down to reception and once again they couldn’t find any record in their system saying the pool was not to be used but was advised not to swim and call back the next day. We then went and ordered dinner and after waiting for 45 minutes for our food we asked for it to be brought back to the room due to the delay only to have half the food served and also not cooked properly. The next day we called to reception and once again was spoken to very rudely and advised that they didn’t know the pool had been sprayed and that we could now swim in it. When checking out I advised that I was disappointed and I was asked to share my story with the assistant manager Julie. Julie advised that our stay was not to their standard and asked if they could redo the stay to show us that their facility was of high standard. We thought this was lovely and agreed. We were advised that we would receive a voucher by Wednesday 16th November. To date we still have not received the voucher, I have made numerous phone calls we no return calls, I have had an duty manager try to make it look like he was the general manager and it was only after I asked him directly did he clarify that he wasn’t. The customer service is below standard and not to mention the damage to my husbands skin from swimming in a pool that was full of chemicals and to have no response is not acceptable. I will be taking this matter further.

I’ll start with the positives. Friendly Staff & Lovely Beach within walking distance.
As Accor Members we always have lovely clean accommodation not this time walked into a stale smelling room even the public hallway smelt stale. No exhaust fan in bathroom.
Under the microwave was dirty ( photos available)bar stools had salt in the crevice & base had rust spots n dirty , instead of fresh white sheets they where a dirty grey with little balls on them. We went & brought our own mugs & throw away plates/ cutlery because of what we saw & could smell.
Day two we asked Housekeeping where they doing our room she said no it’s not on the list & to contact reception which I did to be told “housekeeping isn’t part of our package “ to which I knew nothing about ( I did look at the email after it said weekly housekeeping)she told us if we want towels to come down to reception. The person I spoke to when I booked should have told me , not just put on the email.
So for our $1516.55 five night stay:-
NO dirty towels where collected very unhygienic NO Garbage was collected very unhygienic ( we ended up putting it out on the balcony) & we even had to get extra toilet paper.
Another disappointment was we are a couple on our Honeymoon & honestly it felt like we where staying in a School Yard there was no escaping , the resort obviously gears more to family’s another thing that I should’ve been told about.
We saw two pools on site the main is beautiful the second pool which is ‘hidden’ around the other side is like the forgotten sibling landscaping needs TLC Spa was green & to hot not enough umbrellas either this pool area should be designated for families & the main as it has the Pool Bar should be for Adults/Couples.
Another suggestion there should be designated Family Wings.
Hence to say we will not recommended this property to anyone.

As a first time stay in Kingscliff, we chose Peppers due to their previous faultless experience at other properties they operate. This sadly was not up to their usual standard.. We had a plunge pool one bedroom apartment that was well appointed however the balcony and the pool area was unkept. The apartment felt tired… the bed was comfortable as was the bathroom facilities…
The dining area, Seasons was utilised as our breakfasts were included. What a debacle this experience is! Long queues, inadequate catering, untrained staff. When I commented I was advised there was a large conference in and they had been hit with everyone arriving together… not well organised.. I then discovered that the Restaurant is catering for both Mantra & Peppers as the Mantra dining area is closed… this is a totally unacceptable solution, for starters, there is not enough room for both hotels to seat or feed that amount of people!!
Finally, the staff were clearly under pressure and that resulted in less than friendly interactions.
I would suggest Management take a good look at the operations of this hotel… Unfortunately i cannot recommend the property due to this experience.

We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations, especially as a first-time guest with us. This place has seen better days, it is surrounded by beautiful restaurants and scenery but the resort has not been maintained to a standard that aligns with the price requested.
Service by the untrained lobby staff is lacking, there were many "computer says no" moments had during our 3 night stay.
The room was dated, the mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable, the bathroom leaked and the floor had been worn down in common areas.
The pool was nice, however, the bar shut early (5pm) for a function, this meant that most of the public areas were closed off to paying guests.
There are better and cheaper places nearby, buyer beware.

My wife and I had planned a romantic weekend away for our wedding anniversary. Once we checked in we went up to find the worst hotel room either of us had ever stayed in.
The room felt dirty and extremely uncomfortable not to mention the neighbouring units balconies looked straight into our room.
On top of the disappointing cleanliness the room was incredibly dated with damaged furniture. Spoke to reception about moving rooms to only find the next room was very similar in cleanliness and privacy.
We were at peppers for a total of 30 minutes and drove back home incredibly disappointed.
I would not recommend peppers to anyone
Paying $600+ for a hotel room you at least expect it to be clean and private.

I was told “no” when I asked where I could find a pool towel, however I enquired on a Sunday afternoon and they may have run out (noting other reviewers appear to have been supplied with a pool/beach towel).
I can't answer the car hire question.
No bbq area there
The smaller pool was heated but still too cold for me. The spa was beautiful though
