I stayed at the Poets Recall on Thursday 24th November. Reason for my stay was I was driving back from a business trip in Melbourne and wanted to break up the drive. I picked the Poets Recall because the reviews of the restaurant seemed quite good and they offered room service - just what I needed during a busy business... More

We arrived at the Poets Recall at 8:30pm after a long drive from the NSW Central Coast. We turned in at about 11:30, then were disturbed at about midnight by a screeching alarm. We found that it came from the room next door - we knocked, there was no answer, then opened the breakfast hatch and confirmed that it was... More

We arrived around 6pm over a long weekend to check in and reception was closed with a note on the door, telling us that we had to go over to the restaurant, to checkin. So I went over to the restaurant, there was no one there. Apparently I was in the function area...But to me, it looked like a restaurant... More

We stayed in an upstairs room which was small but well appointed. The motel rooms are arranged in groups of three with a shared balcony. Fortunately our neighbours were very quiet. Parking was good and it's only a short walk into town. Next time I would take a downstairs room which is more expensive but much bigger.

Many thanks for your comments which describe the difference between our budget Queen rooms upstairs and our deluxe Queen rooms downstairs perfectly. More

Arrive to find reception locked. Rang contact number multiple times while waiting In 34 degrees for 20 minutes. when the owners arrived they went on the attack that we had not rung them. Demonstrated that the number was in my phone and surprise the office phone rang. They then became abusive and cancelled our pre- booked room

Yes, we did cancel your booking here at the counter as we DO NOT accept abusive behaviour from anyone. The reception door is kept locked at frequent times as we may be working in the restaurant /function room or in the laundry, pool area etc. We always have a cordless phone with us and as you insisted pushing your mobile... Usually a motel is something that I don't really like to short stay because of previous disapointing experiences but the Poet's Recall changed all that fear -it was certainly different. Clean warm staff - pretty modern - nice presentation on arrival and very comfortable bed. Close to all amenities and the town

We stayed here whilst doing a road trip between the snowy mountains and Canberra. After doing the caves and coming through Talbingo (beautiful countryside) we were deciding whether to stay in Tumut or Yass or Gundagai. Gundagai had more choices avail. We chose the Poets due to $ location. There are 3 tiers of accom. Budget $89 basic. Upstairs w... More

Thank you Annie for your comments. Our upstairs rooms are small compact rooms and are well priced for the size of room and location (1/2 way between Sydney & Melbourne) downstairs rooms are much more roomy with large flatscreen TV's, parking at the door, spacious bathrooms and of a deluxe standard - worth the extra price for more comfort. Motel was well priced, clean and easily accessible. The only disappointment was the lack of a hot breakfast. Ground floor rooms had been renovated but you could still see they were old. Fresh milk supplied which was a nice change to the usual long life milk most motels have these days.

The motel was built in 1986 and is currently under renovation with some rooms complete and some rooms partially done. The upstairs rooms are our small compact budget rooms and even though most of the old wood and brickwork has been painted over they are still small budget rooms reflected in the $20 price difference between upstairs and downstairs (which... Has been a few years since we stayed here and new owners have everything clean and comfortable. Good off highway accommodation with on site restaurant or within easy walk into town for pubs or RSL. Plenty of space in room, flat screen TV, free wifi but local ISP not much value. Had sound sleep. Choice of ground or first floor... More

What a pack of lies- yes we are an 'upmarket' restaurant (NOT high class as you describe) There are other options in town which are all in the main street and directions could easily have been given IF you had asked. We also do prefer bookings as there is only 1 QUALIFIED chef and 1 waitperson and we need to... More
