we stayed there only one night but the place is really cool and chill. The staff made a little confusion with assigning the room but besides for that I would recommend it! It is a bit expensive (34 dollars for a bed in a dorm) but I think the money was worth it).

Don’t you hate it when you can find no clean plates, cooking pots or cutlery in the communal kitchen? When the FEW things of use are lying unwashed in the blocked sinks, along with a whole bunch of food scraps? When there is such a lack of space on the food storage shelves and in the communal fridge that you... More

I stayed at The Arts Factory as a solo traveller and was put in a 10 bed dorm, even though I had booked an 8 bed dorm. It was the middle of the night when I arrived, after a long 13+ hour train journey up from Sydney, so I really wanted to find my room and sleep. However, the check... More

It's a different backpacker place, in the middle of the djungel. With dorms, dubbel rooms and Tents. Big kitchen. But it's nice and cosy. They got a pool as well. We can Warmley recommend this place even if you are as we in the 60+.

After being recommended this place by a number of friends as encompassing all Byron had to offer, we were left disappointed and wondering what the hype was about. No value for money when you consider the location and cleanliness of the amenities. In trying so hard to be the hippy destination in Byron, it woefully misses the mark, and instead... More

You're between 18 and 28 (some are 40) and you want to have a good time? The arts factory is the place to go to. Camping in the jungle is the hippy life! Everyone is happy, barefoot and smiling. Living in the dorms is great as well. Staff is on top, you quickly become part of the family. I know... More

We paid 32 dollars a night (two people) to park outside and use the facilities at the Arts Factory. Whilst the hostel itself was pretty dirty, tired & outdated, I would recommend travellers come here just to experience this place. Probably the most stereotypically 'hippie' place we have come across in Australia.. Think guitars by the fire, morning yoga, palm... More

Thanks for your review Jessica. I am not sure I get what is strange about our activities, I hope you made the most of them and got involved. They are also offered free, which is ot bad when you pay only $16 a night i Byron Bay! And the stoner food - like what? pasta, curry, bacon & eggs, pancakes....... More

This place is much more than just a regular hostel. The Arts Factory is a magical retreat in the forest, you could spend all your time in the hostel, without going anyhere else, and still have a legendary time. Next to normal dorm rooms it offers a lot of different types of accomodation. If you like the hippie byron life,... More

Hubby and I stayed here for a friends birthday. We got the 'Love Shack' room lol. I think it may have been the only room with its own private bathroom. I was actually surprised. I haven't stayed in a back packets for years and it was surprisingly cosy and clean haha. The backpackers itself was quirky, funky and unique. I... More

I had the pleasure of a short stay at The Arts Factory, it was a friendly community orientated place. Set among the beautiful trees and lush wetlands, plenty of wildlife to observe. The rooms are clean and tidy so was the linen provided. I stayed in the lake house cabin which I adored it was so cosy and warm.
