My husband and I went for early evening drinks - last week- when we were staying in a holiday cottage, locally. It was a glorious sunny evening and the hotel has a spectacular location on a cliff overlooking a wonderful beach - accessed within 2 minutes by foot. We had a drink seated close to the edge of the cliffs.... More

A highlight of our stay in Cornwall was Sunday lunch at the Nare. Good, old-fashioned comfort, service and quality ensured a lovely experience, one I am sure we will repeat next time we're in Cornwall.

An amazing place, with fantastic views, on the beach. The "in house" restaurant offered much more sensible food than the too fussy quarter deck restaurant. This place is very expensive, but offers an old fashioned service and style. Afternoon tea is included, and the breakfast offerings are just brilliant, with smoked haddock, kippers and kedgeree so well done it is... More

I am aware that this hotel is probably fully booked year after year and is certainly frequented by the older generation. That clearly means the owner has no regard for any younger clientele (and by under 60's not teenage!) I went here many years ago on NYE. I was appalled at the service. Wonderful if you are very old and... More

The long, and at times tiresome, train journey always makes a visit to the Nare a bit of a trek, so why do I always feel drawn to return? Answer: it enjoys a wonderful clifftop location overlooking the sea, its gardens are lush and beautifully tended, it offers a sense of timeless isolation and peace with warm and friendly hospitality,... We had always felt that this gorgeous hotel was beyond our reach, but there comes a time when if you want to do something in life then you do it. It certainly lived up to our expectations. Beautifully situated, excellent rooms, very helpful, friendly staff, and well presented and enjoyable food. What more can you say.

I read about the hotel in an article in Country Living on the Roseland Peninsula. We live in East Cornwall and its a part of Cornwall we haven't yet explored so I mentioned it to my husband saying we should explore and also remarked that the prices quoted for the Nare (£295 to incl breakfast and dinner) sounded very reasonable.... The Nare, a little gem on the Cornish Coast. Very well located for visiting other towns, villages and beaches, not to mention the beautiful coastal walks. Upon our arrival at The Nare, my step quickened when I saw the view of the beach, the sea and the beautiful gardens. We ate in the restaurant each meal as the standard and... More

We had a room with lovely sea view and enjoyed the proximity to the beach, walks, and Roseland peninsula. Yes, I was expecting an old fashioned British type of hotel and yes it is nice to have tea served at 4pm and so on, but I felt we had arrived at least twenty years too early (my friend and I...
