Our overnight stay in a Superior Room, Evening Meal, B&B was a Christmas gift. We also decided to make use of the Spa facilities and treatments to really benefit from a relaxing night away. First of all, I feel staff will either make or break an experience. Your staff are an absolute credit to you - from the minute we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Our visit to the Spa was just what the Dr ordered. I can highly recommend the Indian Head massage - worth every penny - and more. Particular mention must go to Cath, Tracey and Kat who go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy the experience - thank you. The Strawberry Daiquiri's were excellent!! There was plenty of choice on the lunch time menu. We chose sandwiches as we booked to eat a meal in the evening. Very generous portions, washed down with a glass of prosecco! My husband chose his evening meal from the set menu, I traded the equivalent value for a Filet Steak and salad. The food and service were excellent. Breakfast the next morning finished off our wonderful stay. It's the meal that quite often lets hotel down, but the Penventon have 'nailed it'! Good choices to please everyone, lovely hot freshly cooked food that arrived quickly. If you're looking for a modern hotel with no character and robotic staff, this is NOT the place for you!

I don't often write reviews for places but I knew I had to for this FANTASTIC hotel. I booked it for my fiancée's birthday, we stayed 3 nights at the start of January and we had an absolutely wonderful stay. First of all the hotel is stunning, just my type of place, old charm mixed with chandeliers and velour furniture! The copper bar is fabulous, more gins than it is possible to try in a weekend (and we tried!), and staff who literally cannot do enough for you. The bar manager Agris was an absolute star, he made us feel comfortable and treated us as though we were VIP guests. We stayed in the Penventon Suite which was perfect, massive bed, chaise lounge, a beautiful roll top bath and a monsoon shower that was just heaven! Every little detail was just perfect. I requested breakfast in bed on the first morning as it was my partners birthday, which they arranged along with a complimentary glass of bucks fizz. The food stunning, the belly pork and the steaks are just to die for, not to mention the Sunday roast. The whole trip was just wonderful and we really felt relaxed and at home, all the luxury and style but without the pomp and circumstance. Highly recommend and without a shadow of a doubt we will be back! Rachael and Megan

Gosh, Were to start really; I guess on arrival! We were met at the door ad ushered into the delightful and charming reception were check in was light and breezy and took seconds; afterwards a very lovely chap called Jonathan took our bags up to the room and also orientated us with were the Spa area was so we could avoid open public spaces. Our room was large and very very well appointed everything was immaculate and the down lighters in the bathroom added to a real sense of a very romantic mood. We lazed about in the lovely large bath, relaxing with a drink, before moving to the bar for a quick pre-dinner drink. The bar and lounge are as you would expect by now like something from the Orient express and the service impeccable. Our table was ready and we sat down to pour over the menu; starters and mains were well presented, tasty and filling, the pork belly was succulent and the Salmon starter was robust and smoky (washed down with a glass of fizz). Our Red was full bodied and really complimented the meat dishes we chose. The mood in the restaurant was light, happy and relaxed with lovely background music lending itself to a more intimate atmosphere; the staff were great, attentive, happy and efficient. This is probably the closest hotel we have ever stopped in so near our own house but I just couldn't hep but book it; which made the owner (Mark) grin.... Oh the Spa area is lovely, two different types o sauna, jacuzzi, good size pool and a fitness centre along with a whole host of treatments alongside cosy seating areas to relax on; we will be back for sure; thankyou team Penventon you made our Christmas with this stay.

7 star service! 7 star quality! A group of our friends who are well travelled international travellers spent the last 5 days over New Years have just left The Penventon hotel! We can’t begin to describe our stay! We feel like we have just left Downton Abbey after a royal visit! The hotel is beautiful with the attention to detail second to none. The staff have left us speechless! We have stayed at Claridges and the Dorchester in London and The Penventon can proudly hold its own by comparison! Thank you to every single member of staff. Thank you for the home made jams, the fresh fruit platters( not on the menu). We feel like we have been wrapped in cashmere and spoon fed warm brandy for 5 days! Hail The Penventon! See you next year for the whole of Christmas. Aneliese DeLa Nougerede x

Early December we spent three nights at the fantastic Penventon hotel, admittedly we have stayed before and would stay more often if it wasn’t for the 800+ mile round trip. We had a wonderful large, dog friendly room with a huge comfy bed and a great seating area to enjoy the generous selection of Cornish tea coffee and biscuits when just chilling. The staff are never too busy to help with queries and we always get a happy vibe in all parts of the hotel, Jeanette a part of the housekeeping team always on hand with a smile and chat, Wes on hand always going the extra mile while serving, Agris in charge of the best gin palace, in perfect order every bottle shining and inviting, the selection is outstanding and the surprise was they had Daffys on offer which is quirky and delicious, the cocktails are are always a treat and the Gin Tasting platter is a really fun must do. Reception super helpful and the restaurant is warm and inviting, breakfast is wonderful with all the trimmings but with special family touches you would not expect, Mrs Pascoe personally makes all the jams on offer to put on the hot croissants, delicious. There is a very smart pool with separate jacuzzi and sauna and wonderful pampering sessions available, I had the relaxing pedicure, what a treat. The situation of the hotel makes it perfect for exploring Cornwall or just lazing and enjoying a break. I will wish Darren the manager, together with the Penventon team, and the whole Pascoe family a Happy New Year. Thanks for the memories we will see you in the Summer.
