We went to The Mounts Bay Inn for Christmas dinner. I am at a loss to articulate how amazing the food was for £25 per head. We live in a another town close by where the local pub was charging £90 per head for Christmas dinner!! Everything about the food was 5***** at TMBH. The turkey was extremely succulent and the vegetables very fresh and perfectly cooked. It was very well presented with care. The staff were (as usual) very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was just right, ambient and relaxing. This is the first time we have visited for food and will definitely be returning. The owners should be very proud and give themselves and their staff a large pat on the back!!

The food is spot on. Made by people who enjoy food and know how to cook it. We ate soup of the day catch of the day and the fish and chips. Oh and a garlic flat bread which was a crispy oily treat right down to the last crumbs.
All were excellent. The Pea & mint soup came with warm and toasted olive beard which somehow managed to be soft in the middle and crispy on the outside and plenty of butter. The hake with samphire and new potatoes was on point, cooked precision perfect and served with a jus that was packed with oily herby fishy flavour.
I was delighted that nipper couldn’t finish her F&C and happily tidied that up for her.
Good grub, very good grub. Delicious.

We stayed at Mounts Bay for 4 nights and were very surprised that the bedroom wasn't cleaned daily, even the waste bin wasn't emptied. When we mentioned this to the lady in restaurant, she stated that due to Covid, staff were not allowed to enter bedrooms to service them. We found this very hard to believe. We were asked to put our bin outside bedroom to be emptied.

We stayed in room 4 and found it very small, the bathroom door touched the bottom of bed, the shower was very small, making it very difficult for a bigger person to get in or out and the soundproofing was not good. We could here people in next bedroom talking and the managers dog barking a lot of the time, especially early morning.

Breakfast was good, dinner was ok but we found restaurant quite dark. Bar area was good with a good outdoor seating area.

Free public carpark 5 mins walk away.

Not at all as expected, even allowing for the effect of covid the place was chaotic and disorganised. Staff were pleasant enough once you found them. We had rooms 3 and 6, The rooms are well appointed and comfy with sea views. However room 3 has a tiny bathroom that smelt musty. Room 6 is in the attic and newly refurbished and spacious. You have to go up narrow and very steep stairs to get to it with no hand rail, very unsafe! Velux windows had no blinds so full light very early, I think this is being addressed though. I think the loft rooms will be unbearable if it was any hotter. Both bathrooms had broken toilet seats.

The restaurant really let's the place down, it is shabby and dated and our table was sticky to the touch. Dinner first night nothing was available, no bread, no mackerel. Food was very below average. Breakfast was ok but again no staff and very erratic service.

It is definitely NOT anywhere near a 4 or 5 star rating, at best a 3. We would have flagged our comments to them but impossible to find anyone, the poor women who served breakfast is usually the cleaner and was doubling up in the restaurant as short staffed. I did complete their review sent by email and asked for a call to give them the opportunity to comment but they have not responded.

Would not recommend.

The hotel is well located within mullion and ideal for coastal walking. The room was clean and comfortable and had a wonderful views of mounts bay. The breakfast was disappointing - not all items were available (hogs pudding or a choice of cooked eggs) and the kitchen had issues with their oven on the first morning. The coffee was cold and the breakfast bar was not replenished. The Waitress seemed embarrassed and spent most of the time apologising and the chef could be heard swearing in the kitchen. I had booked the hotel based on their menu on their website. My husband and I could not eat at the restaurant the first night as the oven wasn’t working and they already had a lot of bookings on a very reduced menu. The second night was disappointing. The menu on the website and the outside board was not the same as the very basic menu that was provided to us. I had scampi and it was dry and all oven cooked. My husband had the Hake - fish of the day which was nice but nothing special. The bar/waiting staff were not friendly. The beer garden remained very noisy till late at night. We will not return to this hotel and wouldn’t recommend if you are choosing a venue based on a good breakfast and good restaurant.

We stayed here for a week post lockdown
Covid regulations are well carried out here with plenty of sanitizer everywhere & Cheryl explained the procedures for replacement towels, bin emptying, tea & coffee for room etc on arrival.
Room was lovely with a sea view.
Breakfast was great & Cheryl & Peter took care of filling & chilling our water bottles daily which was very kind 😊
We had dinner a couple of times during our stay (booking recommended) & they kindly made sure we could have a roast beef dinner on the Sunday. The ice cream sundaes were awesome, highly recommend 🍨
Although we had done rain we were pretty lucky with the weather 🌞
We will be back Thankyou

We visited here 3 times during our stay as our accommodation was just round the corner. We ate twice & had drinks once.
The menu isn’t what you would call extensive but there is enough to chose from.
The food is ok, but some bits come over cooked. We ate there tonight on our last night and they were out of the main dessert, how can a food pub go into a weekend without its most popular pudding?
The children’s menu says £9 for a drink (fruit shoot or 1/2 pop), main & ice cream. However they charge you for the pop and the ice cream. I didn’t really notice first time, but I politely challenged it after I had paid tonight. I was told by the bar manager that it was the till set up and she would make sure all staff were advised that they had to adjust the bills in future to make sure the price advertised is charged. There was no offer to refund what I had been over charged.
The good thing about here is they do try and accommodate you for food where as the other pub in town are quite rude despite them being closed when we had a booking.

We had a delicious Sunday lunch here - we would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. The staff were really friendly. They were able to accommodate special requests and had vegetarian & vegan options on the options. We will be back next time we visit. thanks

We were attending an event in Mullion and were delighted to find accommodation at this newly renovated inn. Our room was quite large with comfortable bed and lots of wardrobe space though the bathroom was fairly tiny. Best of all was the view. When places mention 'sea view' you can bet that they mean a tiny glimpse of the sea. This was a real sea view stretching before us and out to the nearby headland. We didn't have dinner at the inn but the breakfasts were great - full Cornish much recommended.

Could you let me know if dogs are allowed in the garden or outside area. Thanks?
Answer from Julie Hurley

Don’t know the answer, can say that you would have to take them through the bar & restaurant to gain access to the garden. Also it has changed hands in the last couple of weeks
