All were excellent. The Pea & mint soup came with warm and toasted olive beard which somehow managed to be soft in the middle and crispy on the outside and plenty of butter. The hake with samphire and new potatoes was on point, cooked precision perfect and served with a jus that was packed with oily herby fishy flavour.
I was delighted that nipper couldn’t finish her F&C and happily tidied that up for her.
Good grub, very good grub. Delicious.
We stayed in room 4 and found it very small, the bathroom door touched the bottom of bed, the shower was very small, making it very difficult for a bigger person to get in or out and the soundproofing was not good. We could here people in next bedroom talking and the managers dog barking a lot of the time, especially early morning.
Breakfast was good, dinner was ok but we found restaurant quite dark. Bar area was good with a good outdoor seating area.
Free public carpark 5 mins walk away.
The restaurant really let's the place down, it is shabby and dated and our table was sticky to the touch. Dinner first night nothing was available, no bread, no mackerel. Food was very below average. Breakfast was ok but again no staff and very erratic service.
It is definitely NOT anywhere near a 4 or 5 star rating, at best a 3. We would have flagged our comments to them but impossible to find anyone, the poor women who served breakfast is usually the cleaner and was doubling up in the restaurant as short staffed. I did complete their review sent by email and asked for a call to give them the opportunity to comment but they have not responded.
Would not recommend.

Covid regulations are well carried out here with plenty of sanitizer everywhere & Cheryl explained the procedures for replacement towels, bin emptying, tea & coffee for room etc on arrival.
Room was lovely with a sea view.
Breakfast was great & Cheryl & Peter took care of filling & chilling our water bottles daily which was very kind 😊
We had dinner a couple of times during our stay (booking recommended) & they kindly made sure we could have a roast beef dinner on the Sunday. The ice cream sundaes were awesome, highly recommend 🍨
Although we had done rain we were pretty lucky with the weather 🌞
We will be back Thankyou
The menu isn’t what you would call extensive but there is enough to chose from.
The food is ok, but some bits come over cooked. We ate there tonight on our last night and they were out of the main dessert, how can a food pub go into a weekend without its most popular pudding?
The children’s menu says £9 for a drink (fruit shoot or 1/2 pop), main & ice cream. However they charge you for the pop and the ice cream. I didn’t really notice first time, but I politely challenged it after I had paid tonight. I was told by the bar manager that it was the till set up and she would make sure all staff were advised that they had to adjust the bills in future to make sure the price advertised is charged. There was no offer to refund what I had been over charged.
The good thing about here is they do try and accommodate you for food where as the other pub in town are quite rude despite them being closed when we had a booking.
