On a sunny bank holiday Sunday we made a snap decision to take a walk on Bodmin Moor. Phoned to book a lunch and the very helpful staff managed to fit us in on a busy day. Sunday roast in two sizes - great value. Or, if you prefer, the everyday menu on too. Lunch arrived in record time. Great... More

Came here for a 50th Birthday on Easter Sunday. We booked our table in advance as there was 8 of us. We all had the roast dinner (lamb and turkey) and two kiddies meals. The food was absolutely beautiful!! Such lovely food, even the kids meals were very nice. The puddings the same! All were very good! The price is... More

A fantastic 4 nights based here with friends from Kent while we completed a local 'challenge'. A very warm welcome from Gary and the crew, an excellent kept cellar (very much appreciated each evening after a long day) and a great choice menu which would have kept us happy for very many more evenings ensured we looked forward to returning... Delicious lunch and superb desserts all washed down by an pint of doom (or maybe two), service was excellent and the pub itself feels extremely authentic and very welcoming. Can't wait until we walk our dogs up here again to have a re-visit.

Stopped off hoping for lunch. Wow what a meal. Good service. Piping hot delicious steak and ale pie. Plenty of vegetables and piles of meat under a lovely light puffy lid. Good selection of well kept beer. Well worth a visit.

This is a review for the attached pub: My friends wanted tea and I didn't so I joined a group on the patio with my beverage. Inside the restaurant there is also nice seating if you choose. What a nice experience outside! I would return in a minute!

I'm generally a bit wary to eat somewhere on recommendation as it usually falls flat - not this time, though! We went in on the first Sunday of our holiday to be told the local cricket team were booked, but we were welcome to eat in the back restaurant. Despite being packed like sardines in the bar the waitresses were... More

We telephoned to book a double room and were pleasantly surprised that we weren't asked to pay a deposit. Good welcome on arrival, and the barstaff offered advice about dining as they can get very busy on weekend evenings. Most tables were occupied when we arrived, but one soon became available and it was no trouble to the staff to... More

We enjoyed a return visit to this hotel this month. The rooms are clean, and comfortable; the staff are welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The menu in the restaurant is extensive, not too pricey, and meals are home-cooked and the portions are more than generous. Breakfast menu is also extensive, and the generous portions will set you...
