What a wonderful location and fantastic feeling as we arrived at the pub. Parking is limited, so be prepared to walk. The ambiance in the pub/restaurant is great. Our room 1 is wonderful, great history and very comfortable. Such a great team, very welcoming and very helpful and engaging.
Considering the current COVID situation, we wanted to find somewhere not too far away from where we are in Wiltshire to stay for our wedding anniversary weekend. A quick Google search showed us Sonning village, and The Bull Inn. Well, what a fantastic weekend! We arrived on Friday 23rd October where we were giving directions to our beautiful room, seemingly newly renovated with comfy bed and lovely ensuite and plenty of tea and coffee to keep us going. Dinner in the pub downstairs was great, we shared a harissa houmous and focaccia starter which was delicious and I had the burger and my husband had fish and chips which were both well received. The wine menu was also extensive and varied. Breakfast both days was hosted by the lovely Kelly, who between her and her team couldn't do anymore for us at dinner the night before or for breakfast. Great choice of breakfast and good portions to set us up for a day of walking! On the Saturday evening, we went back to the pub after a slightly disastrous dinner at another venue nearby, Kelly and the girl with pink/brown hair (sorry I didn't catch her name!) managed to find us a table to enjoy a bottle of wine nightcap, even though we hadn't booked and the pub was very full with diners. Thank you so much for a lovely stay, it was more than we could have imagined considering the current circumstances! We will be back 🙂…
A very friendly welcome, with the Covid rules explained to us concisely. Our Room was called the Indulgence Room and was really very spacious and stylish. There are hangers but no wardrobe, but this didn't detract from our stay in anyway. We ate there on the evening and it was very nice - again friendly service. The residents of the village come to the village bar on a weekend, so if you want to eat or drink there at the weekend it is advisable to book in advance to get a table reserved.
Six of us had the pleasure of dinner tonight 21/10 at The Bull. Great experience. Fantastic food and service. Helped of course by the 3 courses for £15 promotion at the moment! A menu to suit all tastes. Did not stay in the accommodation.
Average food extortionatly overpriced for what it is Staff need training on receiving customers We are not doing "you a favour" by coming for a meal like lost uk pubs Far too expensive No charm Lack of culture
