We called in for an early meal and enjoyed a lovely fire side table eating steak with lovely fries and pepper sauce and fish and chips. The menu is safe and comforting the food , simple and good quality , the service friendly and professional. The hotel gets busy but definitely a favourite.

We travelled up from London on a Saturday, and it was just the thing we needed to relax and enjoy some great food! The staff were very friendly and our rooms were very nicely decorated, warm, and cosy! The menu was varied, and the fish platter was particularly nice! We had a big family get-together on the Sunday and we...

Very friendly welcoming staff. its always warm and cosy in the winter and has a terrace for the summer months. The food is really good, great menu choices and the service is excellent. The best bit for us is that they welcome dogs in the bar, and even bring you water and biscuits for them. The restaurant is really nice...

The Red Lion at Hawkshaw is our favourite place to go for a meal when we visit family in the area. The service is second to none and there's an interesting, varied menu that rarely disappoints. There are usually tempting specials and anyone who likes their ale, there is a good choice. If you are going at weekend then it's...

Every year we decorate a tree (then come back to take the decs down) at Entwistle Reservoir in memory of lost loved ones. Afterwards we eat as a party of six. We gave up on the Strawbury Duck after four years of rubbish service. So we sought help from the Red Lion who managed our reservation accurately, amended it cos...

At last! Somewhere I want to return to in Lancashire. This is a super pub, with great food, comfortable rooms, amazing breakfast with delicious coffee. The room was huge, warm and there was a bath! Tastefully decorated and huge bed. Dinner was really good, huge amount of crisp fish and chips, I am glad I took the waitress' advice for...

Very warm welcome, Very spacious room and lovely and warm. The bed was very comfy, lovely large bathroom although the shower cubicle was a little tight for my 6ft 2ins 18 stone husband! Breakfast was great with plenty of choice, lovely staff. We didnt sleep too well as there was a humming noise that stopped and started. Skirting boards were...

I'm glad, that on the whole, you enjoyed your stay. We have taken all of your comments on board and plan a refresh of our rooms in the new year. If you would like to stay again, you could request one of our rooms that has a full bath, this may eliminate the tight squeeze of the shower cubicle. Thank...
