Stayed here for 1 night on a business trip, check in was faultless and once I found my room it was lovely with a very large bed and the bathroom was massive. The meal was outstanding and the price was not bad for a hotel. I had a lovely stay in this wonderful old hotel with lots of history and... More

We spent the night here after disembarking a cruise in Southampton and before flying home from Heathrow the next day. Our room was located in the annexe on the first floor. Two single beds were pushed together to make a king sized bed. The room was minimally furnished and painted white. There were two window seats, and assorted decorative pillows.... More

This place seems to trade off it's history and location. It is a lovely building and right in the centre of Malmesbury. That said, there is not a great deal in Malmesbury. We would next time choose a Cotswolds village that has more life and more choice for eating in the evening. We were tempted by the Old Bell partly... More

Stayed at the Old Bell for 3 nights. The building is beautiful and the formal areas are very nice, but there are some issues. The attention to detail by staff isn't what it could be - we ordered tea and there was no milk, even chasing it up didn't work. However the main problem was the standard of the rooms.... More

A lovely old coaching Inn next to the Abbey, loses charm, lots of nooks and crannies, good parking to the rear. We had a huge bedroom, good sized bathroom, four poster bed, and lounge area - a mini suite in fact. Not a right angle in the room due to age of property by very clean and comfortable. The breakfast... More

This hotel has all the makings of one of those few places that has the lot - fantastic setting, steeped in history, wonderful rooms, great food and luxurious service - but it falls down (badly) on the latter. Bar staff are too engrossed in displaying their own sense of self importance and percieved skills in balancing glasses, talking up their... More

We have never stayed in Malmesbury before, but were attracted to the village by the Old Bell Hotel as it looked beautiful in the photos. Sometimes photos can be deceptive, but not in this case, the hotel looked just as beautiful in the flesh as it did in the photos. The location is also perfect, right next door to the... More

We “crashed” at The Old Bell on a Saturday night while attending a 50th birthday celebration nearby. The room was good with a comfy double (not king) bed and nice linen. The bathroom was bijou with powerful shower but had very little shelf space; not ideal when your evening’s dress code is black tie! Our room had lovely rural views... More

I was staying at the Old Bell on the occasion of a very good friends surprise 50th. What a great night, great service from the hotel with a lovely private room for the party. I was staying in a single room above the bins and that was the only negative was the sound from the bins! The breakfast was excellent... More

This was the perfect venue for our annual reunion with friends from all over the uk. We meet up once a year in June and although the weather could have been better it didn't affect the overall stay. The village of Malmesbury is very historic with a lovely abbey sitting just next door to the Old Bell Hotel (1220). The... More
