We booked this hotel very last minute (so no choice of rooms, just what was left) as my husband was taking part in a triathlon nearby and we decided it was better not to have to get up at the crack of dawn to get there. We stayed during the town's annual fair or parade so the hotel was very... More

Nice looking hotel very oldy worldy. Situated in centre of malmesbury next to the abbey. Reception Staff very welcoming. If you are not so fit make sure you don't have a room on top floor tis a long way up! Nice and peaceful.Nice dining and sitting areas. Breakfast was excellent. Good choice of fruit yogurt croissants. Fantastic location right by the Abbey. Very beautiful facade and quirky inside too with some interesting old features. The room was simple but nice enough with a great view of the Abbey. Maybe a slightly bigger TV would have been nice although spent very little time watching it. Breakfast was very good although I did laugh when I read another... More

This was not our first time in Malmesbury , we stayed there 2 years ago but decided on the Old Bell this time because during our last stay we had eaten there, and it was excellent . We arrived and were assigned a room called Athelstan (he was an Anglo Saxon King who is buried in the Abbey next to the... More

Located in a very Beautiful part of country loads of history. We had one night there, had a lovely 3 curse evening meal and next morning a breakfast to match. Everything about the hotel was lovely especial the gardens. Staff very good and worked hard to please. Definitely recommend.

There has been a place to stay on this site since 1220! The present building is next to the abbey ruins, with some of the garden walls dating from the Middle Ages. The hotel is equipped to a very high standard, with friendly and helpful staff, rooms have excellent facilities and the breakfast is outstanding - the fresh fruit selection... More

We went to malmesbury for the weekend, a nice old charm hotel.Staff were very good, but lacked a bit of guidance, and could have done with a couple more of them but the only especially their were very good and friendly. Room could do with some modernising and refreshing. The food we had was lovely and all well cooked and... More

We went here for a couple of nights and loved staying there. The hotel was steeped in history and had some wonderful public room rooms. I would imagine in the winter time it would be lovely with log fires burning. The room we had was very nice and very clean. The full English breakfast was one of the best I... More

A very nice hotel , maybe a bit well thumbed in parts. Very nice and helpful staff. We had a room at the back of the hotel which looked out on to the car park, not the best . However Malmesbury is a very nice little town with a beautiful abbey next door to the hotel. Only stayed one night... More
