We stayed here for 2 nights for a family wedding, warm welcome, showed us to our room, good size and bright. Good bathroom, very comfortable bed with high quality bedding and soft towels! There were some areas in the bedroom which needed a little more care with cleaning. The first morning breakfast was very good with a choice of fruit,...

A short visit here last weekend. This hotel/restaurant is so quintessentially English, cosy and welcoming with beams and open fires. Rooms are very France meets Farrow and Ball with proper linen. As ever, a warm welcome. Thank you Tracey!

I probably wanted to give this three and a half stars. The service is good and the ambience is nice. Plenty of space and the table aren't too close together. The food leaves a little to be desired although its perfectly fine. And at the prices they are charging I think its very good value. I guess that I'm being...

A very interesting building with lovely rooms. Bar well stocked, eating areas cosy and comfortable. Accommodation excellent, but food not well cooked and rather a disappointment. We were really looking forward to calves liver, but it was thickly sliced and tasteless.

Room poor condition, dirty carpet etc in need of refurbishment. On arrival staff appeared not to have had any hotel training. Aperitif slow to arrive and left on wrong table. Wrong glasses supplied with drinks. Ale pie was more casserole with a pastry top. Changed after complaint. Fish alternative swamped by amount of chips on plate. No seperate plate for...

Stayed here for one night with a group on business. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and the Lamb always had a nice atmosphere. Dined here in the evening and enjoyed decent 'up market' pub food (my Chicken Kiev was recommended and it was good). We ordered different dishes and there were no complaints. They have some great beers, both...

Having tried another unhelpful pub we came across The Lamb. Even though it was mid afternoon on Mothers Day and we had our dog Ruby with us they quickly found us a table and made a fuss of Ruby (after she helped herself to water from the water bowls dotted around the pub. The food we ordered was first class...

My husband and I stayed here for a one night getaway without the kids. The location is lovely and the pub has some wonderful original features. Great ambiance. We had a room outside away from the pub, it was beautifully decorated and very comfortable with the benefits of sky TV and air-conditioning. The en-suite was nice but the shower was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Lamb would have been trading as a public house as early as the 12th Century. By 1870 it was already well established as a posting inn that supplied 300 post horses for coaches going to and from London and the West Country. To this day the building retains plenty of its original character and features including inglenook fireplaces, flag stone floors and heavy wooden beams. We have 18 beautiful boutique-style bedrooms as well as a traditional pub, dining room as well as a private dining or meeting room providing the perfect place for locals and visitors to enjoy all of the comforts and amenities expected from a larger hotel. With attractions such as The Lamb is a perfect base to explore the area, including attractions such as Old Wardour Castle, Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge and the glorious Wiltshire Country Side Whatever the occasion we're here to make your visit or stay one to remember! ... more   less
