Very friendly welcome.Well kept choice of Wadworth ales. Sunday carvery was superb..freshly prepared and plentiful. Did just have room for dessert !..opted for sticky toffee pudding..which was delicious. Looking forward to a return visit.!

I'm sorry this is the first bad review i've ever given a place but after paying £99 you expect more. My food came out uncooked and when sent back, still came back uncooked. Breakfast was served with rotten salmon - and when i complained the staff barely cared. If i'd had time i would have called the inspectors in. By...

Dear herbierichard I'm very very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the Castle Hotel on this occasion. Please accept my apologies for any shortcoming on this visit. Have stayed here a couple of times to meet up with family and also for a recent overnight business trip. What can I say? This is an hotel that delivers and disappoints in equal measure. A warm welcome from friendly, helpful staff. Great food and a good selection at the bar although no guest ales as hotel is tied in...

Average. Room rather tired and smelled of stale smoke - unpleasant. Shower lacked power. Did not take breakfast so can't comment. Location was fine and main parts had character. Staff friendly and helpful.

The castle hotel is in the town and we found that it was ideal for short stay shopping expedition and tour of town. Our room was at the rear of the building overlooking church and cemetery so neighbours very quiet. We had one of their executive rooms which was large and clean, the bathroom a bit tired and needs updating...

A cheerful and efficient greeting but no offer to help with bags. Room spacious and comfortable, bathroom clean, towels large and soft. Hotel is on a busy corner but we found no problem with traffic noise at the weekend - perhaps could be noisy during the week. Generous and well-cooked breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.

The staff were extremely friendly. There was very limited parking and we had to park 200 yds down the road in the long stay car park although it was only £6 for the day. The car park opposite is only short stay but free between 18.00-08.00hrs. Our room(no. 16) was the furthest from reception overlooking the church yard, very pretty....

Historic building, friendly staff and great location, however sadly a prime example of a building which has been woefully under invested in by the owners. Looks like the last refit was several decades ago. Have no objection to "spit and sawdust" pubs but this could be a great venue which has just been allowed run down for far to long.
