My wife and I enjoyed our first trip to Italy the last week of October. Our trip was the celebration of 25 years while also sharing our daughters study abroad experience in the wonderful town of Certaldo Alto. While the town, food, restaurants, and people were fantastic, our stay at Albergo II Castello was wonderful beyond words. Our room was...

This hotel was booked for me by a friend from the area. We were intrigued by the idea of staying at a castle. This hotel, the staff and the surrounding exceeded our expectations. We planned on visiting a couple of the other castle towns in the area and were surprised that there was so much to do right at our...

We came here some years back and have only now rediscovered it. It is among the best we have eaten at. Fresh pasta and truffle MMMM, the trio of Flans I could eat till I burst, Pork fillets with prunes just unbeatable. We will return next year.

We drove into Certaldo and found a funicular railway to save us the climb up to the Alto township perched on the hill overlooking beautiful Tuscany scenery and vineyards. We fell in love with the place and decided to see if we could find an hotel. The Tourist Information bureau directed us to Alebergo 11Castello and what a recommendation. The...

It lies close to San Gimignano with Florence and Siena easy to visit by train from the local station. The funicular, which is situated next to the hotel, gives good...

Huge thank you to Alfred and staff at this beautiful little Tuscan hotel for making our wedding perfect. We, along with family and friends took over the hotel for our wedding in Certaldo Alto. It is a simple, authentic Tuscan hotel with very reasonable prices and beautiful views. We loved it.

We were on a bike trip in Tuscany and this hotel was on our itinerary. Alfred, the owner, was very hospitable and we had great discussions about jazz and the local area. The hotel striking with creeping ivy and a tranquil ambience. Occasionally, Alfred will play jazz piano in the evenings adding to ease of the place. The breakfast was...

We stopped here for a drink and a rest but I was a bit disappointed with the attitude of the staff. We went back another day and waited a long time for someone to come and take our order. The tortoises roaming in the garden were charming however.

Certaldo is a tiny fortified hilltop village in Tuscany. This hotel is just as ancient with simple but comfortable rooms and lots of open terraces for dining and relaxing. Rooms are €90 with breakfast. The owner is Alfred who is a laid back character with stories to tell. We would stay here again.

Three years in a row in Certaldo Alto , all three times I stayed at Alfred's place. No reason to go elsewhere. Nice place, excellent staff, great coffee, music.... I'll be back next year again for sure. Ciao Belle
