What a wonderful place to decompress! Truly delicious food, great surfing, good yoga, unbeatable natural environment. Juner the Jungle Guide was truly superb and knows his plants so well (don't miss the waterfall hike), the surf instructors were lots of fun, and Tara is super sweet and helpful. You will not regret your decision to take a break here. I planned one week and ended up staying two:). Thanks to the Costa Dulce Team.

This place is isolated and remote. If you want a jungle get away which is peaceful, relaxing and good for your health this is the place to come. Just note that I recommend you get a good taxi which knows the roads as it’s a bit hard to get to 1. Food is fantastic and served three times a day. I love how everyone eats together like a family you get to meet some cool people 2. Cabins are authentic and eco friendly 3. Everyone there is soooo lovely and accommodating 4. Yoga every day is amazing. The massages are the best I’ve ever had and would fully recommend the relaxing massage (my gf had a deep tissue and absolutely loved it) 5. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is something special, but if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs as the storms and the wind can be aggressive Bring lots of mosquito repellent. Remember you are in the jungle!

Costa Dulce is a perfect place to unplug, recharge and immerse in nature. The accommodations are as described, comfortable and basic. Sleeping to the sounds of the ocean and jungle is soothing and restorative. The people who take care of the guests at Costa Dulce are amazing. Heyling and Jose are wonderful managers, and the cooks prepare three healthy delicious meals a day that range in variety of flavors, all fresh and locally sourced. The spa treatments are outstanding including massage, body scrub and mask, and facials. The yoga studio offers an expansive view of the coastline from above the trees and is nicely cooled with the breezes and ceiling fans. And the surfing instructors are attentive and excellent, whether learning on beginning waves, or advancing, they are sure to provide an outstanding experience. The turtle sanctuary provides a unique experience to see newly hatched turtles released to the ocean, and the howler monkeys make frequent visits to the property. I can't say enough good things about Costa Dulce, don't hesitate to book your stay!

I just returned from an amazing week of surfing, yoga, DAILY spa treatments and some of the freshest most creatively prepared food a fine San Francisco restaurant would aspire to present. This was the perfect escape from the woes of the world- a rustic retreat where your body adapts readily to the tropical temperatures and sounds of ocean waves all night long. They know how to do ecolodge— just enough to feel pampered but responsible in the tropical jungle— nothing beats an outdoor solar heated shower with a view of the ocean! The staff of Costa Dulce went above and beyond to make it fun, safe, and friendly. The surf team of Freddy, Alex, Miguel and Willy were awesome- made sure we caught some waves and gave us great encouragement. Jose, Heylin and Yunir- along with Tara greeted us with a smile at all times and made sure to make our travel to and from CD super easy with their fleet of safe friendly drivers. And the spa… don’t skimp on spa treatments- they know how to do deep tissue! What a find… this little gem deserves to get every one of its five stars and at the risk of making it too popular- I couldn’t resist giving them a great review. Hasta pronto Costa Dulce!

Costa Dulce was an incredible retreat in breathtaking nature on the southern coast of Nicaragua. The beach is steps away and you practically have it to yourself every time you visit. Sunsets are unreal. The views are also awe-inspiring. Staying here is the perfect way to be embraced by nature and live the calm, coastal life in Central America. It is the perfect mix of quiet retreat and engaging activity. There are yoga classes and other events like hiking throughout the week and you can surf at the beach or a nearby beach whenever you like. The activities manager Juner is super knowledgeable and is open to planning any activities or day trips that you want (for example, you could go to San Juan Del Sur, Masaya, Granada, Ometepe, etc.). The surf instructor Freddie is excellent. I had the best times on the water learning to surf with him and watching turtles and rainbows form behind the waves. There is also an amazingly refreshing pool with an incredible view to enjoy andh a bar next to it for enjoying a cocktail or coconut whenever you please. The meals are fresh, local, and nutritious. Meals are served at the same time everyday and you eat with the others staying at the hotel. This was a beautiful part of every day - coming together with the community and sharing meals. I met the most amazing people there. I really liked the pace of things - everything was calm and very informal in a way that you felt like you were at home. Everything was peaceful and you could spend time on your own wandering or doing whatever you needed to do and also opt into more social time if you wanted to, with other guests or through activities. We also did a lot of special events like a Full Moon Ceremony, sweat lodge, ice bath, bonfires and cacao scrubs hosted by the manager Tara and also salsa, boating, hiking, and party trips nearby. I can't forget to mention the incredible massages offered here - please do yourself a favour and get a 4-handed massage at the spa! The rooms are really separate bungalows and all have a different style and set-up. However, most if not all have an ocean view from the bed and from the shower. I stayed in the room called "Congo" and found it to be amazing. The staff comes and cleans your room everyday like a normal hotel, which was nice as I stayed for over one month. You can also get your laundry done, which was very convenient. It is about a 30-minute drive to town but most people only go once a week at most, as they prefer just staying in nature and relaxing and enjoying the amenities. It is best to go here for a retreat, to relax, or for a longer stay when you feel like being in nature and not having to worry about anything, but you could also get a ride and trek into town as much as you want if you wanted more city-type action, but it doesn't make as much sense to do that while staying here. Overall, Costa Dulce was definitely my happy place and home away from home in Central America. The beautiful community spirit made such an enjoyable experience. You end up becoming friends with everyone. It had all the elements of a good hotel, but down-to-earth, nature-focussed, informal, community-based and totally in the wild. This review doesn't even mention the really inspiring values of the owner Tyson in building the place, really in harmony with the land and local people. The owners are also involved in many other initiatives that support the environment and local people to build a sustainable community going forward. The owners bought a lot of nearby land for reforestation, built a community/local-centric natural foods company using local sustainable ingredients and co-op type ownership (called Nica Naturals), and support turtle conservation etc. There is a turtle sanctuary right on the beach and we saw so many baby turtles get released into the wild. Therefore, not only are you going to have an incredible stay in Nicaragua in nature, but you are supporting people that are doing really outstanding work for the planet, starting right in their backyard and people that empower others through food, work, community etc. I'm nothing but impressed with the owners' vision and dedication to amazing values. Thank you so much to these amazing dedicated people and I encourage you to support and visit!
