When you get to San Juan there's no escaping it: Sunday Funday. When we started of at hostel Pachamama it was all good fun and the boozing and party were amazing. Then we went by foot to hotel Anamar. The party there was pretty good as well. But after a few hours of partying we wanted to grab some food and go with a taxi to the Naked Tiger hostel. The entrance was crowded with people waiting for the shuttle, but we wanted out and grab something to eat before we went to the naked tiger. Then we felt like sheep. Literally nobody was willing to let us out the hotel, we were forced to wait in line for the shuttle we were forced to to take. Talked to several people but no luck. They even wouldnt let us get on the beach without ripping our sunday funday bracelet of our wrists ($30). I got angry... why the hell would you force me to be here if I just want something to eat and take a taxi later?? The more I thought about it, the more crazy I got in my head. I paid freaking $30 for a bracelet and you wont even let me leave the perimeter to eat and take a cab??? Just put my 30 bucks to waste like that? Absolutely insane... It was like the maffia telling you to take the shuttle or quit your night. If that isnt a tourist trap, I dont know anymore. Please, please make sunday funday a funday once again and dont be so stupid about people wanting to enjoy their basic human rights such as freedom. It cost me $30 but I hope the people reading this will know what they are about to get in to... if you want to be a sheep, go ahead.. if you want to decide for yourself when and where you are going after paying $30, please leave a comment as well. It made my sunday a deception, but I'd rather be honest and straight about it instead of let people having the same bad experience.

First of all have read previous reviews and all are same as me and my girlfriends experience. We needed a place that took cards for last day in Nicaragua so chose this place. We asked the guys the night before if all fees included etc. We speak spanish. And they said yes. We get there to check in and totally different story from this witch that runs the place. An angry angry woman. Charges us more for credit card and we tell her what guys says and she says they dont know. How about taking responsibility for your staff. They she says, "Its only a couple of dollars" to which I say then why dont you pay for it?" No answer. Had to ask for top sheet as they dont normally give them. Beyond that this places wifi worked for a total of 5 min. in a 24 hour period. Had to walk 15 minutes, each way, to take care of work issues. Says they include breakfast with every room on website. We ask in morning and they say they dont have breakfast. Add that to no hot water in the showers. Also club across street plays the loudest bass music I have ever heard...till 4am!?!? Lastly we had a computer and valuables. No place to lock it in room or we asked at front desk and not there either. This place might have been good 40 years ago, but it needs to close and let someone who respects their customers blow it up and start again, cause it is on the beach.

We went here to look for a free room. It was very dirty...there were dogpoo on the terace (2 times). The staff hangs around and did nothing. Maybe you use your freetime to clean the building. More than 60 dollars for a night is a joke for the quality. The only good thing is that they have a pool and is direct at the beach. If you keep staying to this standard you should close your hotel. At the end we didnt take the room and went to an other place.

This hotel has great potential, just seems like they don't care. We stayed here for 3 nights while in town, was a great location right on the beach with a pool. We have been staying in very budget accommodations the rest of our 3 weeks in Nicaragua and decided we could pay a bit more. When we arrived the lady at the front desk appeared annoyed that we wanted a room. She said "well... OK but they are $96" we were not wanting to spend this much, but asked to see the rooms anyway. She huffed and looked annoyed then yelled for a young man to show us the rooms, he showed us all sorts with bunk beds, dorm style, with or without balconies but he didn't know how much any of them were.... They rooms were OK, most faced the ocean and pool area and we're simple but newer. When we went back down to the front desk we asked for prices and got a $45 room, facing the ocean with a private bathroom and fan. Was pretty good deal we thought and was more than adequate... we were surprised the lady at reception didn't mention the cheaper rooms, it was like she didn't want us to stay there. It was actually a ghost town! I think we were the only guests! This place has the makings to be great, has a nice pool area right on the beach on the quiet side of town, and just a short walk to the center. However the staff really seemed not to care. On closer inspection the place was pretty unclean everywhere, nothing major but everything needed a good clean, including the rooms. Mud chunks, they were renovating so I could expect some mess but that they would just leave it there. Breakfast was included and was sad: 1 egg 1 piece of bread (not toasted) and cold mushy Gallo pinto. Coffee was also included but milk was an extra charge! Breakfast was done being served by 11am, the second day we arrived at 1030 and they said "no, they were done cooking breakfast for the day and we could only order lunch at full menu price"... come on guys... also to remind, we were the only guests there, who else were they serving? The food was overpriced and not good. Later that night we went out for drinks and knew we would be back late so told reception and they said there was a 24 hour guard, when we returned the gates were locked, we knocked for quite awhile before walking around to the beach and coming in the back. Again when we checked out we had to leave at 530am, and told them ahead of time, we were told "no problem" then we were also locked in... had to walk around wasting time when we had a bus to catch, and heavy bags. Staff just hung around watching TV in the bar area, and we would usually be hanging out in the pool area, I had to go to the bar everytime single time to get a fresh beer. They seemed annoyed everytime. During our stay our room was never cleaned and when we asked for towels for the pool they said we only got the ones in the room, which were never changed. Then at the end of our stay our bill came with 15% mandatory tip!!!! I normally wouldn't fuss about it, but we received NO customer service! I hope they get there act together... it's a waste of such a good location, they are taking it for granted.

Love it!! The lady owner is so nice, she was always happy and attentive during our stay. Definetly coming back. The sunday funday party is a must do. The sunset is the best. The pool is also really nice. Everything was perfect from the day we got there to the day we left.
