I stayed here on a girl's trip recently and have mixed feelings. Overall, the place was nice but it was EXTREMELY minimal. As in, they don't even give you a fresh towel and you literally only have a bath towel. No hand towel, washcloth, bath mat, etc. The huts themselves were really cool as were the hotel grounds. The actual... More

I've never traveled out of the country before my trip to Maderas Village. This was the perfect experience to dip my toe in the pool of international travel. Maderas Village is like an adult summer camp gently tucked in the jungle up a hill. It is a wonderful place to enjoy a retreat away from hustle and bustle. The owners/staff... More

I just came back from a really great week at Maderas Village. I went for a yoga retreat with Yoga with Adriene organized by Trip Tribe and returned refreshed and happy from my little vacay. After a long day of travelling, it was so nice to be welcomed by Bill, who was friendly and kind. Bill asked if he could... More

I had the best experience here. Dickie, one of the owners, is such a great guy and is doing a tremendous job with his staff - whom he personally trains and the hospitality reflects this. We did yoga in the big yoga room each morning, surfed, and had some great lunches and dinners with them. At night we'd chill in... More

The Maderas Village was exactly what my fiance and I needed after the hustle and bustle of getting married in Brooklyn. Arriving to Maderas felt like a bit of an adventure - with the 3 hour car ride from the airport but well worth the anticipation. My best advice to travelers hoping to stay here is - know what kind... I loved the staff of this establishment and had one of the best beach vacations of my life. I made friends that I genuinely still stay in touch with until today. The shuttle service was very helpful and as soon as me and my friend arrived we were greeted with food and drinks. The next day we went and hung... More

I don't usually enjoy leaving reviews but this place is out to screw people. I could have stayed in a hostel just up the hill and had a better living situation and would have saved a ton of money. Their marketing is so great because the staff just sit around on their laptops all day cruising social media. When you... More

I would never return to this location. I attended for Meghan Currie Yoga Teacher Training. I do not advise anyone to take this training or visit this location. The quality, service and maintenance left everything to be desired. The price for what was received was outrageous. I was completely 100% dissatisfied in every way.

I visited Maderas Village in october-14. Was planning to stay a couple of days, but ended up spending most of my 5 week vacation there. Really enjoyed everything about it, the hosts welcomed me as a friend and I have so many fond memories from this place. Walking down for a morningsurf in an almost empty lineup and going back... I recently stayed at Maderas Village and absolutely loved it. I read through some of the previous reviews and was worried but after arriving I didn't want to leave. You have to know what to expect before visiting a place like this - You're getting the bare essentials...but in the most beautiful packaging. The ride here from Managua airport is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are located at Maderas Beach, about 20 minutes outside of San Juan del Sur. We offer a three daily meals, either a la carte or as part of a pre-fixe menu. We are like a boutique hotel, but less pretentious. We love people who want a place to surf, read, debate, and do yoga daily; who want to lose themselves in a place, and find themselves in the people. We offer tailored packages for short-term guests and very reasonably priced rates for people planning to stay longer than 3 weeks. We are not in Lonely Planet or other guidebooks; we like having to be found. ... more   less
