Every aspect of Verdad from the layout of our casitas, the design of our furniture and fixtures to our adventures/experiences and concierge services is designed to allow you to enjoy the natural beauty of Nicaragua in relaxed comfort. Verdad is nestled on hillside in a secluded and peaceful setting, ideal for either a relaxing beach holiday or an active vacation with yoga, surfing, trail runs, nature walks, horseback riding, zip-lining, snorkeling, fishing, sailing, hiking and more. We can arrange any of these activities as well as transportation to and from the airport. Verdad encompasses five freestanding casitas with decks overlooking the ocean and two pool rooms linked by beautifully landscaped paths. All of our accommodations have private bathrooms, and private decks (with ocean views) and outdoor walkways connecting them to the common areas. Paths also lead you to the ocean where you will find our secluded beach and beachfront restaurant. Additionally Sand Bar Surf, our surf school, is staffed by professional and local competitive surfers who not only know all the local breaks, but are adept at helping both beginners pop-up for the first time, and more advanced surfers improve their skills. We serve breakfast and dinner in our open air dining area, as well as poolside. Everything we serve is prepared on site daily using the fresh local bounty. Verdad is a beautiful and relaxing little oasis. The staff make you feel right at home and really go out of the way to make your stay perfect. Marc, one of the owners, talked with us every day to make sure everything was perfect, he even gave us private training sessions in their open air studio. The food is amazing and fresh from the garden, they made special vegan meals and desserts for me every day. There is also a little beach hut that serves great food, also can make vegan options highly recommend the veggie kebabs. The beach is absolutely perfect, warm water and clean sand and they drive you down any time you like or you can walk about 10 mins down the hill. I would recommend this place to everyone who likes and adventure

Delightful and outstanding experience. La Verdad exceeded our expectations. It is like a 4 star hotel in the middle of the mountain with beautiful ocean views, a river that flows into the ocean where you can paddle board, a stunning beach where you can learn how to surf with a experienced, local, profesional surf teacher called Wesley who will make you feel safe and will teach you all about surfing with compassion and patience. We had the best fine, fresh, organic gourmet cuisine by two talented chefs Heidi and Eleina. The gorgeous, immaculate casitas have the most ravishing and relaxing views, we also had the best massage we ever had, by massage therapists Octavia and Magaly who will make you feel so relaxed you will need extra time to get your mind/body ready to walk out of the cute little cottage with ocean views, soft music and lavender scented incense that will make you doubt if you are in Heaven, they also have also the most breathtaking Yoga shala you will ever see in the world. La Verdad has a trail to the beach that will give you a good 20 mins of a nice hike too, you can do all of this and/or relax in a peaceful, unspoiled, tropical paradise with the comforts of an upscale hotel Every person we met at La Verdad were compassionate conscious, ecologically oriented, with the bigger sweetest smiles, they made us feel so welcomed, like family! Verdad Nicaragua is situated in the most beautiful location allowing for anything you could want for your Nicaragua get away. My family enjoyed surfing in Playa Escameca, eating delicious food prepared by the wonderful staff in the kitchen, watching the sunset from the gorgeous cabinas and getting out for some great food and night life in the city of San Juan del Sur. The cabinas are gorgeous with wide views overlooking the water perfect to lounge on the porch for many beautiful sunsets. The kitchen prepared delicious food each morning and night. Verdad is the perfect family getaway spot with numerous activities for the whole family. My brother and I absolutely loved Verdad and can not wait to go back to surf with Wesley, Freddy and Willy. My entire family adores this little beach getaway and highly recommend it for any and all that want a gorgeous getaway just a few minutes from San Juan del Sur.

Growing up and living in NYC I tend to always have a more go getter and active approach to vacations and find it hard to sit still and enjoy my surroundings for too long. However, from the moment my girlfriend and I arrived at Verdad we could feel a sense of relaxation come over us and I soon realized that everything that we wanted to do and see was right before us.
One of the most unique things about Verdad is the staff. I have never stayed somewhere before where I honestly felt like family. Marc, Junior and Wesley helped us plan all of our activities, answer all of our questions, and give us some great local advice on what to do and even where to eat.
After not surfing in many years we decided to take a beginner surf lessons and were coached through the process with lots of patience and knowledge. It was a really amazing and fun experience. I also tried yoga for my first time on the this trip (I honestly can't imagine a better place), followed by a couples massage overlooking the spectacular views. All of this without having to leave the resort.
I was completely amazed every single time that we went to the beach at how much it felt like our own private beach with hammocks, picnic tables, and a full bar with amazing lunch (Best chicken tacos ever). The best part about this is that the tab transfers directly to your bill so no need to bring a wallet. Just a bathing suit.
We really enjoyed all of our home cooked meals at Verdad from the in house cooking team. Everything was always fresh, delicious and dietary concerns were always taken into account for every meal.
One of my favorite things to do during my stay was to simply enjoy the ocean breeze from the Casita. With a clean open design throughout, we were able to enjoy the amazing breeze and views in bed and even from our shower. I had some of the best sleep of my life.
Everything about our stay was so amazingly perfect that we were lucky enough to have our last night at Verdad land on a Friday for Happy Hour where the owner Marc had live music, drinks from the bar, and amazing home made food. There was a brick oven pizza made with fresh in-house Mozzarella that was way better than anything I can find in my neighborhood in New York.
I really want to thank Marc & Dana and their amazing staff for teaching me how to relax and enjoy Nicaragua in one of the most spectacular locations I've ever been to in my life. This was a trip to never be forgotten and I hope to come back with friends and family some time soon.

My boyfriend and I were really excited to book our trip to Nicaragua. We had stayed in Granada for a couple of days and the moment we arrived at Verdad it finally hit us that we were on vacation. The entire pace of our trip had shifted.
Right as we walked into the lobby the most helpful and friendly staff greeted us and helped us settle in. Marc, Junior, and Wesley helped us make the most of our time there. Not long into our trip, we felt like we were with family.
There is so much to do at the resort. It couldn’t be easier to find something that interests you and schedule it, and most arrangements go to your room bill, so we really never had to carry anything on us!
We went to the beach every day. There is an amazing bar with great food down there. We looked at the amazing stars there at night. We got massages in an open-air room and went to yoga. We took beginner surf lessons with Tony who was super fun, knowledgeable and I can’t stress how patient he was. While that sounds like a lot, we also just lay out in hammocks and drank margaritas, worked on my horrible Spanish with Junior and just took in the beautiful scenery.
Food & Drink: If you’re looking to go out, San Juan del Sur is definitely a lively and fun place to go to. Junior helped us arrange our rides with a very sweet driver (drop off and pick up) and suggested great foods to try and fun bars to check out. It’s just a short ride away. We did, however, decide that we wanted to spend the rest of our days and nights in the resort as it was just so unique. This is incredibly unlike us as we like to explore and usually just sleep and change in the rooms & hotels we’ve stayed in. But, Verdad has so much to offer and is truly a special place.
We booked all our dinners at Verdad, each one more amazing than the former. The chefs are incredible and we made amazing new friends at their beautifully curated family-style dinners. They are extremely accommodating to any dietary restrictions/ food preferences.
There’s so much more I can say about this amazing place but I don’t want to ramble on and on. But if you’ve made it to this paragraph I just want to stress that never in my life have I been sad to say goodbye to our hotel staff who I feel like I can say are our new friends. We really miss you guys and plan to come back very soon! Thank you for everything.

Our family spent the most amazing two weeks at Verdad over the Christmas holiday. The resort is beautifully situated on top of a crest overlooking the ocean on both sides. The decor is modern and cozy and feels like paradise. The entire staff was extremely accommodating and always happy to help book an excursion or just get advise and guidance. The food is exceptional. Super fresh, local and even with a gluten allergy, I did not have to give it a thought. The kitchen staff was on it and made sure that everything I ate contained no gluten. I can't remember the last time I vacationed and did not have to worry about that!
There’s a gorgeous yoga/ workout studio on the premises that has all the modern equipment you might need to a daily workout. They run daily yoga classes also house TRX bands, kettle bells, and other equipment. You can workout on your own or Marc is always happy to put a workout together for anyone.
Marc, Dayna and their staff are simply amazing, incredibly welcoming and helpful. They really do an amazing job of making you feel at home. We loved it so much that we already booked for next year.

When my partner and I originally booked our trip to Verdad, we couldn’t believe how amazing the reviews were. Within 5 minutes of our arrival to Verdad, it became very clear that the hotel greatly deserved the impeccable reviews. First and foremost, the staff that works at Verdad is incredible. They are always there to provide a relaxing and memorable experience for you. It was easy to get help setting up local excursions and they supported us with any questions or requests we had during our stay at Verdad. They also made setting up transportation to and from the Liberia airport in Costa Rica very easy. You can tell that they are a family and work so well together and it makes the intimate environment of Verdad very inviting. The accommodations lived up to the stunning photos, dare I say they were even better in person. The casitas were like a dream and so comforting to come home to after our daily adventures that included surfing, horseback riding, scuba diving and more! It is also a great perk to have beach access with a great spot for lunch and use of surf and bodyboards. As with all the other reviews, the food certainly made a lasting impression. The ingredients were so fresh and we always looked forward to breakfast and dinner at Verdad. We miss the delicious food so much. If you are looking for a trip to Central America that is adventurous yet relaxing with the opportunity to learn more about the culture of Nicaragua, look no further, Verdad is the place to be. We cannot wait to return to Verdad in the future.

Just left from another completely relaxing family vacation at Verdad. We were here last March and were so happy that we decided to do it again! Verdad did not disappoint. We were a group of 14. The younger group went surfing each day and the older crowd enjoyed yoga and TRX classes with experienced instructors in the studio space overlooking the ocean. We also read books and lounged at the pool and at the beach. Wesley the manager booked us wonderful massages and also a catamaran boat for the afternoon where we saw tortugas swimming in the ocean.The whole place has a delightful balance between a rustic nature feeling and a refined boutique aesthetic. Each morning we had the most delicious breakfast including fruit, yogurt, granola and a selection of Nica specialties. We had our lunches at the small restaurant on the beach which was whole fried fish Fish tacos, quesadillas, plantains, ceviche, and beers and frozen drinks. Hats off to the whole staff they run a first class place. The rooms were spotless. One afternoon while hanging out on our terrace we observed some monkeys lounging in the canopy below. Though we prefered spending quiet evenings at Verdad, there was also night life had in the nearby SanJuan Del Sur for those in the group looking for more action. There is a honor system bar by the pool. This is where we watched the sunsets and enjoyed family time together. As I make my way back to Brooklyn I truly feel I am leaving a piece of paradise behind!

impeccable is the only word I can think of when I reflect on my recent visit to Verdad. This amazing resort is located about 10 minutes up from playa escameca and overlooks the pacific ocean. The grounds are well kept with river rock paths throughout. The rooms are very comfortable for two people and offer a stunning balcony view. Showers are rainfall style and the breeze blows thru the room making it very comfortable. There is ample hot water. Prebreakfast is served fresh fruit and french press coffee. Midmorning you have breakfast which is skillfully prepared by property chefs. I was there for surf instruction with Wesley. I have been to several surf camps and I found that Wesley was the most informative instructor I have had. He was always aware to my whereabouts and he seems very "safety first" oriented. Basically Wesley, eres un chingon! Dinner was served nightly at 6:30 pm and again masterfully prepared and very fresh. The WiFi was strong throughout the property. There was always someone working about keeping the property clean and organized. I stayed at Verdad for 8 nights and loved every moment. It was a quiet secluded spot with incredible people all around. The entire trip was flawless. Thanks team Verdad!

Absolutely Amazing!! Visiting this jungle-laden community was a once in a lifetime experience. Everyone we interacted with was more than pleasant and eager to help with anything we needed. Wesley and Junior went above and beyond arranging anything we requested from rides to the beach, to scheduling any activity we were interested in. The freshly squeezed juice every morning was only outdone by the food itself. Elena and Heidi prepared each meal with care, fresh ingredients and local flavors that never failed to have our mouths watering. The pool area and honor bar were a match made in heaven as anytime we wanted to enjoy a local Toña by the pool, it was never more than a footstep away. The refreshing pool has a wonderful view of the ocean to enjoy while occasionally gazing at the monkeys in the trees above. As if that wasn’t enough, the rooms and amenities are unmatched. The scene from the cabin’s 3 panel sliding glass door was something special to behold. The yoga shala/gym was one of the most serene environments your mind could concoct. The area grants you access to a near private beach with excellent waves, perfect temperatures, and a locally run beach bar with refreshing drinks and tasty snacks. We are completely thrilled with every aspect of our stay here and we cannot wait until we can come back to paradise. There is so much more we could say about our visit that would still not do it justice. The only way to grasp the complete picture of Verdad Nicaragua is to truly experience it for yourself!

we had Mahi 2-3 times a week, but that may have been due to the fact they had a lot of pescatarians staying there. the staff works around special diet needs, but it is family style meals, so everyone eats the same meal. we had rice beans and vegetables at most meals. lasagna was once a week.
to be clear they don't have menu to order off of, and lunch is not served.
There are more places to choose from in the San Juan del Sur area.
