We had my 38th birthday at Schrute farms this year. We opted for the Goat Package, which has the most goats. The multi-course meal was wonderful; an appetizer of beet salad followed by a roasted goat and cabbage pie, which was washed down nicely with a glass of fresh milk straight from the cow. After dinner beet wine was enhanced by the closing ceremonies fire dance put on by the owner Dwight Schrute and the rest of his staff. My guests enjoyed the corn doll making activity as well as the parting gift of instructions for making a broom, but they were not thrilled with the cost of the hay to make it. The evening ended with a viewing of the new Battlestar Galactica, which was basically a shot for shot remake of the 80s classic. Overall, it was a unique birthday experience, and we look forward to returning on the first real snow of the year for the annual snowball fight.

Wow. This is a top-notch accommodation. It was so great that I am recommending it to all my friends and family and acquaintances. No complaints whatsoever. We met the hosts and they were very welcoming.

I have never seen such awful accommodations. Plus, everyone here is obsessed with beets. And all the other guests were going on and on about the most ridiculous nonsense. I would advise travelers to stay anywhere else.

For our annual tour of local produce farms, we decided to check out some local farms in rural Pennsylvania. We started (spoiler alert: and ended) our trip at Schrute Farms and we were NOT disappointed. From the rustic feel of the old barn (which did NOT smell like a slaughterhouse for most of our stay) to the industrial era nostalgia triggered by the irrigation room, our stay at Schrute Farms had us beet red from joy the entire time. We had planned to only spend the first two nights there, but after hearing that a garden party was taking place that weekend, we decided we absolutely had to stay the whole week. What, were we just going to SKIP a garden party?? There was only one aspect of our trip that we did not like--and no, it was not the fact that the owner put us to work and asked us to double as servers for the garden party nor the fact that we had to dance and participate in living art for that same party-- it was just a small thing. We ordered some dessert on our last day at Schrute Farms and our cupcakes did not have any sprinkles. To be honest, it was pretty disgusting without it (I mean, really, who thought beet cupcakes would be tasty?) and tasted like trash. It was not at all suitable to pair with our goat burgers. My friend, Angie, was so worked up over it that she even shouted at the owner, "I don't want Garbage. I want Sprinkles!"
