Charming historic guest house, wonderful breakfast, beautiful setting. Wonderful wedding venue, gourmet dining. However, I gave it a 3 because you can hear everyone walking about in the house. We were on the second floor in the Once in a Lifetime Suite and whoever was above us sounded like the ghost of Jacob Marley (from a Christmas Carol) dragging chains across the hardwood floor multiple times during the night. So, we did not have a good nights sleep. I would recommend in future stays, to stay on the top floor or in the nearby cottage and not the main house if you want a good nights sleep.
We were just guests at a wedding at the Barley Sheaf Farm. Service was excellent, staff was very attentive and polite. Place is immaculate. Service was great. Place is beautiful, grounds are clean and beautiful. It is a storybook setting. There are a few pigs, horses and goats in a small pen, animals seemed happy. The rooms are furnished with antiques, food is delicious, fresh fruits, fresh salads, baked goods were excellent.
We had the Sunday Brunch for a birthday. The service was cheerful and attentive to all our needs. All the food choices we had were extremely delicious from beginning to end. We are looking forward to going again.
As we finish our relaxing weekend stay at Barley Sheaf, I am compelled to sing the praises of this location. Prior to our arrival, when unforeseen circumstances had affected the original room we had reserved, the owner went above and beyond to accommodate us and ensure our satisfaction. Our stay since has been extremely enjoyable, from the incredible service of the staff and gourmet meals (dinner at the restaurant was superb, as was the complimentary breakfast) to the peaceful grounds and lovely room. I would recommend this location to anyone seeking a relaxing or romantic getaway. The 5 stars are well deserved!!!
I booked dinner here around June 12. I expressly wanted outside dining due to covid. I realized four days before our reservation that I had booked for 6 people instead of two by mistake. I called to correct my error, I spoke to a man, whose name I believe was Mike, and told him we were a party of two, not six. He said that was fine. I again confirmed outside dining. He confirmed this. He never said anything about any events that would make this impossible. When we showed up, a clueless hostess proceeded to tell us that there was a wedding and that we. would be seated inside. I said that we didn't want to eat inside because DUH! Pandemic! She acted as if she had never heard of it. I was very annoyed and asked her why, when I called several days earlier, was I not told of this, so that we could make other plans. Did she think we wouldn't notice? It left a very bad impression and we would never return.…
We held the most perfect retirement dinner party for 22 people on the covered back patio of the Inn last week. Deena and Mark, the owners of Barley Sheaf, and their staff were so incredibly professional, warm, detail oriented.. just a pleasure to deal with. I have planned events myself, so I know that no matter the size of the event, it's the little details that count.. and their team did not miss a single one! We sat with our guests in 4 tables outside, spaced just the right distance apart. The Barley Sheaf property goes back to the 1740s, and is set way back from a fairly main road. When you drive down the long road, you feel transported to another era. The property is beautifully landscaped, with a gazebo, pond, pool, reception "barn," fountain out front, even a few rescue animals grazing behind the parking lot. Just lovely. We served our guests appetizers that included mini crabcakes, stuffed mushrooms, and beef on crostini, followed by salad and steak or salmon, then finally dessert. The servers were quietly thorough and efficient. We look forward to returning here for Sunday brunch and dinners. What an absolute gem!…
This has become our favorite brunch place in the area for special family events. Food is always of high quality... service is top notch... ambiance is beautiful... this is what I call a gem close to home. Sometimes, getting a reservation could be difficult but worth the wait. Highly recommended.
We stayed at the Inn for an overnight on Valentine’s Day for a change of scenery since living in a COVID world! The room was lovely and clean (we stayed in the “dancing in the dark room”). You’re greeted with a nice cheese and cracker plate, beverages are provided in the mini-fridge and included with your stay. Highly recommend this room as it’s on the top floor (3rd floor) and very spacious. It also has a nice size his and hers bathrooms with steam option. The food was really delicious!!! We had dinner and of course breakfast. It is a BYOB, so bring a bottle if you like to have a glass (or two) during dinner. Mimosas were included in our breakfast. The owners are fabulous. Definitely accommodating with superb service. This is a popular destination if you’re looking for a quiet getaway, but also if you’re looking for a beautiful, scenic place to hold a wedding or party. We will go back and visit in the spring! …
We had my daughters wedding at Barley Sheaf Farm this past weekend and it was truly amazing! Mark and Deana are lovely people and made planning a wedding (even during a pandemic) a pleasurable experience. Words cannot describe how happy we were with everything. The grounds are impeccable, food was delicious and service phenomenal! The entire staff was not only professional but so incredibly friendly and accommodating. If you are planning a wedding I highly recommend taking a tour...you will fall in love with this venue! We stayed the entire weekend which included a fabulous brunch both days. The after party by the fire pit was also a big hit. I can’t wait to go back for dinner soon. Also- side note, I have planned events with many other venues over the years- weddings, showers, birthday parties etc. BSF was by far the best experience ever! The owners and staff truly care about your event and will do everything they can to make it flawless.…
We stayed at the inn for my friend's wedding. It. Was. Incredible. The staff was very helpful. So warm and kind. They handled all the bride's concerns with ease (for 2020, that says a lot). It rained the day before the event, but you couldn't tell the day of. It truly was the picture-perfect micro wedding. As soon as we drove up to the property, it felt like an escape. And after the festivities were over, we made a short drive to New Hope for some eating and antiquing. I cannot recommend this inn enough!
