Detailed Reviews
Our family skied at Hidden Valley at the end of January and essentially needed all-day lessons for our young sons. The first day the boys had Tyler and he got our 7 year old up on the lift and skiing on his own by the end of the lesson-I was amazed at his ability to literally ski backwards the whole way down the mountain so he could coach the entire time. On the second day we had Allison, and she was also super patient with our 4 year old and she was able to get him up on the lift and skiing down a few runs with him with reins while our 7 year old skied along side. By the third day, Abby, their third instructor, put bands on our youngest's ski tips and he was able to ski on his own down the mountain. I cannot say enough about these three instructors who exceeded our expectations in teaching our kids and providing them with the confidence to ski down unassisted. Larry, the ski staff coordinator, was extremely friendly and helpful in assigning the best instructors for our kids. We'll definitely be back to Hidden Valley!

We wanted our kids to learn to ski and booked private lessons with Mary Beth at Hidden Valley and she was amazing! Our kids are 6 and 10.5 years old and she taught them all the basics. She really took the time to go over safety and made great recommendations to us so we could maximize their time on the slopes. She’s friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable!!

We play an annual tournament here. The theme is using only four clubs, and look for dog tracks that everyone won’t hurt themselves. This place fits the bill. The big bonus is they have carts, which Pleasant Hills didn’t.

All started with choices hotel experience, they didn't now about the hotel and the guy made a wrong reservation then I said it was wrong and he said he couldn't fix the mistake he made... The receptionist said during the check in that we didn't need to make reservations for anything. Then we went to the pool and needed reservation, back to the reception she said it was fully booked... Long story short I tried to make a reservation, they made for the wrongs dates, I tried to cancel their mistakes and I couldn't. The receptionist lied and at the end said we have beach and te good news is you stupid client can enjoy it.I

I have been here a couple of times now with my family. It’s a great place to ski, very family friendly and a great place to learn how to ski! I had Arthur Gordon who is a phenomenal instructor!! Highly recommended! I would use Art if you want to learn to ski! The place is not too large that it’s overwhelming and it have never been too busy. We just love coming here!

I took a lesson with Arthur. He is a great instructor. I learned to ski in my thirties and this was my first time skiing again in several years. He understood my challenges and was able to help me gain confidence again quickly. It was a great experience. I can’t wait for my next lesson.

Disgraceful golf course. Burned out, no maintenance, sand traps unplayable, fairways look like bad rough. Bob Nutting is an embarrassing joke of an owner. Please stay away! Lots of better alternatives in Western Pennsylvania. Try Donegal Highlands or the many fine places to play in the area.

My husband and I came up to Hidden Valley for a short getaway around New Years Eve. Generally we stay with family in a condo, but decided to spread out a bit, so this was our first 'lodge' stay.
The good- the room was large (we had a king suite) with separate living room/bedroom/microwave and fridge areas, with lots of space for gear to hang. Bed was comfortable, room was generally clean.
The bad- the bathroom tub didn't drain well, and was not cleaned during our stay, so it was pretty gross by the morning we checked out. The TP roll holder was broken so the TP didn't stay in the holder, it continually fell off until we gave up and left it on the counter. These rooms aren't actually in a lodge, they're spread out away from the lodge where you check in, and a shuttle ride away from the actual ski area.
The ugly- the continental breakfast is the worst. Stale bagels and pastries, microwave oatmeal, cold cereal. Rotten apples one day, no fruit the next. We've stayed at a lot of hotels, and this was hands down the worst breakfast I've ever seen. Stop offering it, or offer something better, but right now it's no good. Especially in the winter time, stale bagels are not the energy skiers/boarders need for the day.
Also, I unfortunately left my electric toothbrush in the room. I called the evening I checked out but they were unable to locate it. A little disappointed that HV would throw away something like that- it was not an inexpensive item.
Overall, It's not a bad place for a weekend ski trip, but with just a little more rehab and effort, it could be something really special.

This is primarily a place to ski and it does that well. Everyone associated with the skiing end of the business seemed professional and worked smoothly. But that's where it ends
What looked on the web like a lovely hotel suite turned out to be a cramped, low-end motel room at a high price. The beds were uncomfortable and we didn't sleep well at all.
We were supposed to get lift tickets with the room but we were charged separately for those and told "no refunds on internet purchases." They actually told me to stand in the parking lot and try to sell the duplicative lift tickets.
We were supposed to get gift cards worth $15 each to spend on site. But they didn't put any balance on them and when they were swiped the cashier told us "you have no balance on these."
I recommend that you stay at one of the chain hotels that are within 7-10 miles. There are several. You will save a lot of money and sleep well. You can also rent skies and poles from one of the several independent, off-site stores and save more money. Do not buy anything on-line from these people no matter what. Pay cash for everything. If you use credit carefully keep your receipts and check your statement frequently.
