Nestled in the heart of Hershey sits Simmons Motel and Suites. Built in 1957. Each property was purchased separately and later modified into the quaint little gem that we have today. The motel has been owned and operated by the same family since 1957. Our mission is to provide each of our guests a warm, welcoming, "Home Away From Home" kind of experience, rather than the "Big chain, Luxury" environment. If this sounds like what you're looking for then we're the motel for you!

We visited during the week. This is an older motel with lots of different lodging options from rooms to apartments that can fit your family. I think one goes up to 8 people and several for up to 6 plus the various rooms with for 2 or 4. Convenient to downtown. We walked a couple blocks to the middle of town. In theory you could even walk to ZooAmerica but parking is free so why do it.

So understand this is not fine lodging. You are not staying at the Ritz or the Holiday Inn. But you are not paying those prices either. Our room was basic and very clean. TV, good AC, mini fridge, microwave, good beds. All we needed. Sure you don't get toiletries besides soap, but I always have spares from other places I stay. No biggee.

The people who check you in and out are friendly and responsive. They seem to care about their guests. This is a family motel. The pool was nice and we enjoyed it quite a bit. Put the floaties on the kids and have a great time. Parking is fine as long as you remember that if you leave your spot when it is starting to fill up, you may not have it when you get back later and will have to park on the street in front of the motel. The staff gave us the heads up and we were fine. Not sure how parking is on weekends, but I know traffic gets very bad on a Saturday in Hershey.

We will definitely look to stay there on our next visit to Hershey.

Two-star hotel is about right. Room was dated, definitely needed some love. Heat worked. Shower was hot. Didn't really spend much time in the room, so served my purpose of just somewhere to crash while off playing at Hershey Park. Reception/Staff were neither mean nor nice... just, they did their job and that was it. No small talk. I knew what kind of hotel I was staying at and had my expectations set so I can't complain. If I were to go to the same area again I'd probably spend a little extra for something nicer.

Some off-street parking, but it was full most of the time I was there and so parked on the street (which was free).

One thing that really bothered me was the flimsy door-knob lock. Couldn't even lock the deadbolt upon leaving; you could turn it from the inside while you were in the room, but couldn't from the outside with the key. Hollow door. Didn't feel comfortable leaving my stuff in the room with just a cheap lock on the door knob to guard my stuff.

This place is old. At least from the 1940's. We reserved a "suite" and got a regular old motel room with cobwebs on the walls and peeling paint. Not very well maintained. Also, nobody would clean the room while we were still checked in. No central air. Just a room a/c over the door. Best thing about it is the location. Very close to the park. You can see the roller coasters from the room. So, I guess it did what we needed it to do. A bed with a shower, a mini-fridge and a TV. Had to pay extra for Wifi. Bed was a little small for 2, and mattress was too firm for me.

From reviews I knew what to expect, a 1050’s hotel. That’s what it is, but it is clean well kept and on the Main Street in Hershey, about 1/2 mile from the park. If you went to grandmas in the 1970 or 80 this was her house, I loved it! There was Evan the above ground pool! There is a charcoal grill in the grass area you can bring charcoal and grill if you wish.It is not marble and gold but it is a great place for a non pretentious family to stay.

We planned a day at Hershey Park and chose this place for the night before becausevof the proximity, low price and motor-era quaintness.

It's definitely quaint and has an old-time charm.

But the room was microscopic with poor HVAC and little space for luggage. The mattress was worn and saggy. The tiled bathroom was also quaint, but underlit and the shower had no sleves or nooks for soap and shampoo, so it had to sit on the floor.

The room also was far from noise proof, so we heard everyone around us, including the staff talking loudly down the hall in the office.

To be fair, the office staff members were pleasant and courteous and graciously didn't mind us running late checking out.

There are fewer parking spots than rooms so I had to park down the street and walk back in the rain after unloading the car.

I enjoyed my stay here this weekend. It's in a great location in downtown Hershey at an affordable price. Front desk service was extremely friendly and helpful when needed. Room has fridge and microwave and is very cozy. It is a little dated and noise can be heard somewhat easily, other than that very nice and I'd recommend.

Extremely nice staff, very clean and felt very safe for the price point especially!

Another positive is that they log into streaming services on their own account so that you can use them.

The family vibes are extremely noticeable here which felt very welcoming to me.

There is also a lot of resources here that can help you find things to do around the town if you are not from here.

Would stay here again!

This place had the worst customer service I have ever had in my life. The people that owned the motel were very disrespectful very racist and just downright impossible to be around. I got fussed out for asking for a hand towel a wash rag and for them to vacuum my room. If you stay here don't expect any customer service. Me and my husband will take our business elsewhere.

Response from Nathaniel Finkin, Guest Services / Front Office at Simmons Motel And Suites
Responded Apr 11, 2020
You were amongst our worst guests ever. All we asked is that you 1) pay your bill on time each day, 2) follow the rules, and 3) be civilized. You failed all three of those tasks. What motel lets guests have use of their housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners? What motel is alright with guests staying past check out without paying their bill for the following day? What motel is alright with smoking in the room when there are numerous warnings and signs that make it abundantly clear that smoking in the room is prohibited? You were awful, which is why we kicked you out. Your poor attitude didn't even get you past the front desk of the hotel across the street, who wanted nothing to do with you. Stay out of Hershey; this place is far too good for you.

Awesome place to stay right down the street from Hershey Park! I originally rented a room with two queen beds for myself and my three kids. We asked for a third mattress or cot but the room was not big enough for a cot, so the woman at the front desk, who was very nice and very helpful, called the owner and asked if we would be able to take one of the larger rooms. They ended up giving us an upgrade, at no extra charge, to a suite with two queen beds and two twin beds. The room was very cozy, was on ground level and had a nice patio out front.

Super quaint property that is definitely historic in nature. The grounds are really clean, and though the rooms are old and need upgrades, the vibe was really comfortable. If you’re used to chain hotels with newer fixtures and such this is not the place for you. If you like affordable, friendly and easy accommodations with an old school vibe you’ll love it here!

I love the place as is. The only thing I was a bit upset about last time was that there were no parking spots open when I came back to the room that night. It was a Tuesday in the winter, not a weekend in the summer. That never happened before. But not a big deal. I always look here first when I visit Hershey.
