Hershey Lodge is often celebrated for its cozy, chocolate-inspired ambiance, though guests have pointed out that the rooms could use a refresh and better upkeep. While the array of amenities – including a shuttle service, an indoor water park, and multiple dining options – are popular among visitors, there's a notable discrepancy when it comes to room cleanliness and maintenance. Some guests have called attention to the housekeeping, highlighting issues such as untidy rooms and insufficient towels. Moreover, many travelers question the value for money, feeling that the hotel's pricing doesn't quite align with the level of service and quality provided.

If you are looking for a beautiful place for your family or a couple this is your place. We have been coming for over 15 years. Beautiful lodge inside, great restaurant and cafe choices and Sweet Memories store has almost everything. The pool and jacuzzi are a must. Request to stay in the towers (main lodge)

Stayed at lodge weekend after Labor Day. The grounds are impeccable, the lobby and staff accommodating and the amenities very good. they had a scavenger hunt for the kids as well as free mini golf. However the rooms are despicable. The mold and mildew were very significant in both rooms we checked into. The wallpaper is the same as it was over 20 yrs ago and you had to wear flip flops in the shower as to not touch the tiles that also haven't been replaced in ages. Old dark furniture makes the room look even smaller than it is. That being said I will admit the room was very clean.

We were put in a great location next to the Water Works building and not far from the lobby. God Help you if you were placed in the last building as you would have to drive to get to the lobby.

I find it remarkable that the rooms have not had a makeover. It is for this reason I would only stay one night, go to the park the next day (as you get in hour early if you stay onsite) and spend the next night in a much cheaper cleaner updated room.

The new waterworks pool is great for toddlers up to age 11. It is well supported by lifeguards and has cute little slides for the younger kids and 2 big slides for the older kids.

There is no shuttle to take you to the park but you get free parking passes from concierge. Please remember to take your room key with you to the park as you need proof that you stayed in a hershey hotel and are allowed to enter into the park early.

We ate at the food and grain restaurant which was very good. We actually sat down at happy hour and our drinks were half price. That was a big score. We had free breakfast for the kids but didn't order as it would of taken to long to get food and we wanted to head to the park

All in all I think one night is all I can muster until the rooms are updated.

Spent 1 night here with my grandson to celebrate his birthday. We picked the lodge due to Waterworks and very much enjoyed it. It is geared toward younger kids; older kids will likely enjoy for 20 min and then be bored-he enjoyed it for hours. The pool area included a splash pad and 0-entry pool, along with a pair of slides, floating pads, and basketball.
Many of the resort activities, like kids checkin, weren’t occurring due to COVID, I assume.
I was a bit worried from earlier reviews on the room, but we had no issues and did not have mildew or musty smells others experienced. We were in the wing with waterworks; not sure if that made a difference.
We took advantage of a package deal and feel we got somewhat of a value from it. Overall, I thought the price was really high even with the waterpark. While it’s certainly more than a standard pool, it’s nothing close to Kalahari or Great Wolf for nearly the same price.
We ate at Cocoa Cabana at the pool area; it was ok, about what you’d expect in price and quality. It was convenient and part of the package, so it worked out ok. There is a small arcade next to the pool area that also entertained my grandson. Overall, a decent experience but still not likely to return.

Decided to make a spontaneous, kid-free trip from Baltimore to Hershey with my wife and another couple to catch a Bears game and enjoy the other features Hershey has to offer. Settled on the Lodge due to it’s convenient location and the variety of food/drink options within the complex. Our initial opinion of the Lodge was great. The front desk staff was extremely nice and our room was spotless with no issues.

After enjoying the Bear’s game, we made our way back to the Lodge to enjoy some food/drinks before heading to our rooms for the night. The table ordered 1 round of beers and 4 appetizers. After finishing up the food/drinks, we decided to order 1 more round before asking for the check (It was 11pm). Upon requesting the final round/check, our server notified one member of our party that they were cut off and that no alcohol would be served to them. We were all extremely confused. At no point during our time did anyone in our party display the type of behavior warranting a response of that level. We were seated at a table, no one was spilling food or drinks, no one was sleeping or falling out of chairs, no one was being loud or obnoxious. Meanwhile, there was a wedding party there with individuals not wearing shoes and spilling drinks on themselves who were receiving continued service from the bar with no issues.

After the member of our party who had been cut-off left the bar, I stayed to finish my own drink and to ask the manager what series of events lead to their decision. I received zero information and was told to finish my drink and leave while she contacted security to follow me out. Again, our group’s behavior did not warrant this level of a response. At no point in time did I ever leave my seat or appear threatening in any way. We all remain extremely confused as to why this all happened in the 1st place.

Up until that point in the night, I would’ve rate the Lodge as 5/5 due to the great experience we had. The entire reason we drove 2 hours from Maryland and chose the Lodge was because it allowed us to be close to the Hershey attractions and provided the ability to relax after the game with food and a couple drinks without having to worry about transportation back to our rooms. Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by a couple individuals (server/manager) who seemed determined to tarnish the Hershey brand with their questionable judgement.

I hope others do not have a similar experience.

The rooms need so much work. Upon entering the bathroom the grout on the walls where full of mildew and needed to be serviced and replaced. The vent had dirt and mold which was such a disgusting view while showering. The wallpaper was peeling off the bathroom wall because of the humidity. The closet carpet was dirty and the wall had some sort of stain which was never cleaned. Room (2809). Upon inspecting the room and wiping it down with wipes(COVID 19 times). There was a lot of dust on my wipes which tells me surfaces where not cleaned appropriately. A layer of dust sat above the bed board and when I finally was going to bed I found a dead bed bug on the pillow case. I immediately called front desk and room service never came so I had to go downstairs and get new room keys for a different room, since I refused to stay in a room that may have bugs. I entered my new room and yet again a dirty pillow with either a makeup stain or something else. I spoke with management especially since Hotels should be more diligent with cleaning and clearly housekeeping was not doing a good job at inspecting white sheets. The manager was diligent and apologetic and made a point to make things right. However, I will never return to this property since $350 A night clearly did not even get me clean sheets or a maintained room. I can get better service and a nicer room at a holiday inn. It is very sad for the Hershey brand but management should really make it a point to do regular repairs and maintenance of rooms, to make sure that customers are satisfied, considering the high price for these rooms. It clearly appears they are depending on the name Hershey to get customers to stay at their hotel but not keeping up with quality and control.

We recently attended a conference that introduced over 2000 extra people to Hershey Lodge each day. We stayed at the lodge, and the coffee shop was CLOSED. Not only that, they only give you one pod of regular coffee for the coffee maker in your room which makes NO SENSE seeming as how we were in a room with two queen beds (which totally sucked being a married couple, but anyway) so there would be a minimum of TWO people in the room!!! One pod, two-four people. No access to a coffee shop. What a nightmare. Coffee is so cheap and they can’t have 24/7 coffee in the lobby for guests? Literally everywhere I have stayed in the past 4-5 years offers this as an amenity for guests. Cutting corners on the one thing that makes most people happy in the morning. Room service coffee is $11 for 4 cups. Apparently bring your own coffee maker if you stay at Hershey Lodge or you are going to be very grumpy. Also the restaurant we had reservations for on Saturday was behind by 1 hour!!!! The waitress was so mad we didn’t want to order dinner at 9:30 pm !! (We just went for dessert at that point) 8:30 was already late enough. SO ridiculous. I know it’s the off season but get it together!! We are still paying guests that want a nice stay.

Stayed for a 3 day weekend over the Martin Luther King Holiday Weekend when my grandson was in a hockey tournament. Very nice property, clean and well maintained. The hotel in the rear of the property you will be walking a distance to the main area and probably to the water attractions. We stayed when cold but assume in summer you can get to the water park walking outside saving a lot of steps. The first 2 nights there was a convention of 650 church woman an despite the numbers it was a pleasure as they had meals in the ballrooms leaving the restaurants available. Sunday they left and the hotel was filled with families for the Holiday. On those days the water park and restaurants were crowded and it seemed to me that they may have been short staffed in the food areas. My only complaint was when I booked i knew the rate for Saturday Night because of the Holiday was more than double the Friday and Sunday rate however rooms must have become available due to bad weather on Saturday because i spoke to a few people who booked last minute Saturday and got a rate of $150 more than half of what i paid. This was not our first stay at this property and although I agreed to pay the higher rate when i booked I feel some relief should have been given to us as they were offering a lower price during our stay. However that will effect my opinion of this property.

We booked our room through the hotels website because my spouse was scheduled to have major leg surgery at Hershey Medical Center and the hotel was very close. The rate when we booked was $159 for 2 of the nights P& $129 for the other. In the meantime we received a patient handbook from the hospital, in this handbook, was a list of area hotels. Hershey Lodge was in that list with an asterisk next to the name which meant that they offer a discount for families of patients at the medical center. I called Hershey Lodge a few days prior to our check in date and spoke to a lady regarding our reservation, explaining why we were staying at the hotel and that I saw they offered a discount in the patient handbook. She said indeed they did. She was very accommodating and arranged for us to have a room that would have easy accessibility for my husband, of course, we appreciated that. She also said she would see to it we would get the best discount available, even mentioned a possible free night, unless I misunderstood. However, when I went to the front desk to check out of our room after 3 nights, i asked what our balance was, I was told...it sounded high, I asked for a print out, I saw the room rates were the same as the internet rate when I booked. I explained to the gentleman that I was told that we would get a discount for being family of a patient at Hershey Medical Center. He said we did get a discount of $50. ?? We were also charged for three days of valet parking (we used the valet parking when we checked in only, and were told it would be no charge because we had a handicap placard) I parked our car myself the other two nights. I was frustrated at this point. My husband was being discharged and I had no time to discuss this further, I instead called a few days later to discuss again. In that call the person explained the rate I was charged was the social service rate. She did remove the three nights of valet parking. Ok. I'm confused. But..okay.
The room was fine. But, they need to soundproof the rooms. Dont get me wrong..I love kids...and there were alot of them, but there was alot of people traffic in the hallway outside of our room and it was at times very loud. Also I waited one and a half hours for room service one night after getting in from the hospital.
My point is to check your bill when you check out.

For $500 night (that includes taxes and fees) and a 3 day minimum, I guess I was expecting more. There was a 45 minute wait for table at breakfast or a 45 minute line for take out. The lobby was crowded with people eating take out from outside restaurants as limited on site options. The water park, supposedly at COVID levels, was crowded. They did a good job with child activities but they should at $500 night with no room service or housekeeping. You leave your trash outside for pickup. Housekeeping staff responded when you needed stuff and left outside your room. If this is hotel at 50% occupancy, they can’t get to 100. Lines at check in, guest services too. Hotel rooms are the quality of older Holiday Inn. Clean, serviceable

We have stayed here quite a few times and always have a great stay. This time, however, there were more negatives than positives.

Pros: We had adjoining rooms in the Reese"s section which were very clean. It was close to the pool, mini golf, and arcade which is a plus with two small children. I observed multiple staff members constantly sanitizing public areas and there was no trash left in the hallways. Most staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Cons: For the prices we paid per night, there were many things that were not up to par. They are down two restaurants ( Revelry and Hershey Grill). So, Fire and Grain and Bears Den are the only options. They are understaffed and everything takes forever. The pool didn't open until noon, the schedule claimed mini golf opened at 10-it didn't open till 12. When asked , the desk seemed unaware of when things were supposed to be open.It was extremely frustrating because we planned our day around some of these activities and trying to keep two kids occupied until noon was difficult. It was Easter weekend, which we booked on purpose since one of our previous stays were during Easter weekend and we had a great experience. There was no Bunny breakfast-which there were other activities going on so I am not sure why this was eliminated. The lobby bartender was unfriendly and looked miserable. Hallways were extremely noisy-unsupervised kids running up and down. Im assuming since the pool now closes at 8, there is nothing for them to do.

Again, I know everyone is recovering from the pandemic. However, how long are we using this as an excuse? You can't charge that amount of money and have half your restaurants closed, hours of operation cut, and bartenders that look like they don't want to be there.
