My family visited Woodloch Pines for five days in early May to get out of town. But with two kids under the age of 5, we needed a trip that took care of cooking and cleaning and had lots of age appropriate activities. Woodloch definitely delivered. The food is all American and pretty good, and plentiful. Their bakery is top notch - breads, cakes, cookies, brownies - everything out of the oven was exceptional. The fries are addicting, the bacon is crispy. The salads were surprisingly good, fresh, and crunchy. The lake is gorgeous, making a beautiful backdrop for pictures, stargazing, and some peace. The grounds are very well kept and most everything is stroller and wheelchair friendly. (There are some steep hills though.) The staff even have two or three mini buses that make their way around campus to get you from one side to the other every 15 minutes! The activities are sure to please everyone, from the toddlers to the grandparents. My tinies liked art times with clay, chalk and bubbles, and all the craft supplies. There are THREE playgrounds, one which is brand new and has a 30 ft (enclosed) slide that my oldest mastered. The indoor playground is dark, but super challenging in a fun way that kept my oldest occupied for hours, but also kids as old as 10. The kiddie cars, bumper boats, and go carts were also huge hits. There are plenty of activities for older kids too, from paintball, rock climbing, arcades, trapshooting, kan jam, scavenger hunts. There were paddle and row boats and in a few weeks, stand up paddle boards. There's an indoor and outdoor swimming pool with splash pads, a water slide, a sauna, hot tubs, and a concession stand. There's a volleyball court, a gym for basketball, mini golf, bocce. There's also Woodloch Springs down the road for a full 18 holes. They offer two movies and a show every evening, which are appropriate for even young kids in many cases. I would love to do karaoke in a non-pandemic world. The room we had in Springbrook was large, with a walk in coatroom, two bathrooms, and a patio. The only cons to the rooms were that the floors in the bathroom are legit freezing (even with the heater timers) and the air is so dry that our hands were unhappy. The staff were great. Everyone was kind, excellent at communicating, and helpful. The staff was diverse (some families spoke Spanish and Mandarin and they got servers who were fluent for both!) All staff consistently wore masks correctly. COVID-19 PROTOCOLS: I picked Woodloch for our trip because they seemed to be taking all precautions seriously and they had plenty of space to social distance. We chose to take meals in the dining rooms and while the tables were a bit closer together than I would like, we got to be friends with our neighbors. You can take all your meals to go as well, they bag everything up nicely for a very fast pick up. I think they are also going to open up more outdoor tables in a few weeks which will be nice! Half of the activities had sign ups to ensure proper spacing (the app is pretty good) and it even counts how many people are using the pool. They do not do daily room cleaning unless you request it, which was fine by us, but I can imagine would get gross if you were eating all your meals in your room. The staff all consistently wore masks, kept space, and cleaned frequently. There are hand sanitizer stands everywhere and plenty of signage to encourage good behavior. That said, not every guest is compliant or sympathetic to social distancing or masking, and there were several occasions where I needed to move my family to avoid other people who were not wearing masks or distancing. The playgrounds, indoor and out, do not have a Woodloch staff person supervising or cleaning regularly, so when we were uncomfortable with the crowd we packed up and left. Any of the arcade spaces also are not staffed. I understand the staff have a very narrow line to walk of creating a place to relax while also creating a healthy environment, so I will not fault them for bad guest behavior. But if you're particularly nervous about coronavirus, do know that you will have to continue being vigilant because your neighbors will not be safe on your behalf. WOODLOCH APP: I recommend it. I would like the activity sheet and the daily menu to be obvious choices on the starter page (why should I have to click through three pages to find out what's for dinner?). Also the app tends to crash when you leave it on the activity page and you try to go back. The activity sign ups list shows every activity known to man, and not the activities for the current day. It would be nice to either click from the activity sheet to the sign up, or see a list of todays activities only that require sign up to minimize the guessing. The app is pretty, it is logical, and it saves you time and paper, so its definitely worth it.

Hotel's Favorite
We visited Woodloch for the first time last week and liked it so much we are returning tomorrow. It is a fabulous family resort that makes things easy. The edgewater suite could perhaps benefit from a cosmetic refresh, but it is the perfect layout for families, with a beautiful lake view as an added bonus. The activities are plentiful and the app made it easy to schedule. We did all of our meals take-out to avoid indoor dining, and the system the resort set up for that was seamless. The staff were all consistently pleasant and professional, and whatever capacity limits have been set make it possible to responsibly social-distance. It is evident how thoughtful and dedicated the management is to making this a great, safe experience for guests.

WOW, we love that you decided to return for a second stay in two weeks! We're very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your first visit to Woodloch so much and found the new protocols that we've implemented to be seamless. We thank you for your feedback regarding our Edgewater Suites. We re-invest well over a million dollars each year on improvements and renovations and take great care in maintaining immaculate and comfortable accommodations for our guests. We're fortunate to have had gorgeous weather this summer, and the beauty of the takeout meals is that you can enjoy them anywhere across our 1,500+ acre property. As you noted, our staff are crucial to our success; they have done an amazing job of adapting and implementing our new policies and procedures during these challenging times. Thank you very much for your kind review, and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future!

I'm a big fan of The Lodge at Woodloch where my husband and I often visits before we had kids. Now that we are a family of 4 and our first family trip is Woodloch Pine (The pandemic also delayed some of trip planning) We were super excited after being home for over a year about this trip. However, this experience is super disappointing. 1. We stayed on May 13th, 2021 (we were only at the resort for less than 24 hours) at approx. 5pm we were at Bumper Car Complex, my son who is only 4 years old was trying to play with the kiddie car, he accidently pressed the gas panel too hard and bumped into another empty car next to him. The staff (a lady with dark brown hair) screamed and yelled at him that made him cry. My husband had to carry him out and comforted him. The rest of night to the next day, every event/game that we attended he always asks, mommy is she going to yell at me? this staff lady totally traumatized my 4 years old and ruin our time at the resort. This behavior is unacceptable and should be serious addressed. 2. Quality of food needs to be improved-all four of us got stomach aches 3. the facility is dated 4. Covid rules were not enforced.

This is our third time at Woodloch. We always have a good time. We needed a break, and the secluded setting in the Poconos made it even more appealing during COVID. As always, the food was great and plentiful, and there were plenty of activities. Our only concern was the cleaning. We stayed in one of the homes, and we found hairs from the previous guest all over the carpet. There was also a ring around the tub as if it had not been cleaned. We were very concerned the house had not been cleaned properly, or at all. This was only concerning since the resort said they are taking extra cleaning measures during COVID.

Thank you for your continued loyalty to Woodloch, MarylandLadyBug. While we are glad that your expectations were met in most areas during your vacation, we are very sorry to read about the cleanliness issue in your guest home. Providing immaculate accommodations has been -- and continues to be -– a trademark of the Woodloch experience since we first opened in 1958. Since reopening last June after the onset of the Covid pandemic, we have worked tirelessly to further enhance our already stringent cleaning protocols and sanitization measures. This makes it especially disheartening to read your review, which as you know from being a previous guest, is certainly an unfortunate singular exception to the rule here. Additionally, we want to be sure to note that you are always welcome to contact one of our team members with any issues you may have during your stay, and we will do everything in our power to rectify the situation. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so that we can gather more details and ensure that the condition of this home meets our rigorous cleanliness standards and that there are no further issues moving forward. Please feel free to contact me directly at 570-685-8047. Again, we offer our deepest apologies and look forward to welcoming you back in the future to show you how we have improved and share our hospitality with you once again. On behalf of the entire Woodloch Family, Brooke James
