Since we live in the surrounding area, we will probably never stay there , besides breakfast is way overrated . However two nights a week you can get maybe the best dinner in a 50 mile radius, along with an excellent bottle of local wine . My wife and I have been to all the best restaurants in the area... Arrived at 10pm on Sunday. No one there. Had to call number on door twice before an answer. Finally got in property. Stayed in Stuart room, bed was lopsided,so uncomfortable. Full set breakfast was a bowl of fruit & a bagel.

After reading the vast majority of the reviews, my wife and I were looking forward to staying at the Fairfield Inn. It didn't work out that we were there on the morning they served the amazing sounding chicken and waffles but we were still looking forward to the breakfast even though there wasn't a menu for breakfast to go by.... Dear Ken F, I am so sorry you did not enjoy your recent visit at the Inn. The floors of the Inn have definitely settled over the years and it is a little quirky. We do appreciate that you wrote us regarding your sleeping comfort. We take our guests seriously and try to correct any things that we can. Maybe... More

Beyond Gettysburg is Fairfield on the road of retreat of the Confederate army after the battle. Since 1757, the Historic Fairfield Inn provides food and lodging to travelers. There are many different rooms to enjoy dining, including the tavern with its fireplace. Items on the menu date back to previous times with contemporary additions. We recently took a group of... Dear B. Braun, Thank you for taking the time to write regarding your recent experience at the Inn. I am so glad you enjoyed the Professors Civil War magic and found it to be entertaining. The Inn though older still has the charm of an era long past and is itself an experience. Please join us again and we would... More

How amazing to stay in rooms that hosted Civil War officers and even Revolutionary War Era guests! The gorgeous building has settled over the centuries, so you feel the history when you walk over slightly tilted floors. The beds and amenities are all modern comfort without denting the historic charm. The owner and his staff are gracious, kind, and generous.... More

Clean rooms and great breakfast. Would be nice to have homemade snacks, coffee, drinks made available throughout the evening. The Owner was very nice and polite. I also received a call before our stay to confirm my reservation, very helpful.

Wanted a B&B in local area. Chose the Fairfield from online availabilities. When we got it, the character stood out immediately. It is right on the main road but had free parking along the side. It has a tavern/restaurant on ground floor. We were greeted by Kara who was extremely friendly and informative. She showed us our room - 3... More

Great place to stay. We chose to stay at the Fairfield Inn when we brought our family to visit Gettysburg to help our children step back in time. We were the only guests on the night of our stay and the children (12 and 15-years-old) loved exploring the inn, looking for all the historical places and hidden treasures. This is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Fairfield Inn offers an enticing, warm, unique and memorable experience. It has been in continuous operation since 1757, and is one of the five oldest continuously operating inns in the country. Our rooms and suites are sumptuously decorated, and our food delicious. The restaurant is noted for our Chicken and Biscuits, and our Ham and Bean Soup (which is the same recipe as was served to the retreating Confederate forces on July 4th, 1863). Visitors to the Historic Fairfield Inn include Patrick Henry, Thaddeus Stevens, Robert E. Lee, and Mamie Eisenhower. This is a "must stop" destination for visitors to Gettysburg. ... more   less
