My wife and I had been on the road for about 500 miles and we chose Microtel. We were very happy with it. Do research it before you chose it as I can see many negative comments could have probably been avoided. Would stay here again.
It was a nice clean room and bathroom. Climate control worked well. There was no fridge in the room/ no microwave. You would think for the room rates there would be a fridge and microwave . The only ice machine was on the second floor at the other end of the hotel. When we go back to Erie Pa we won’t be staying there.
My husband and I stayed here for one night while visiting Presque Isle state park. Check in was at 3:00 PM and when we arrived at 4:00 PM there was a line of people waiting to check in. The poor girl at the front desk was overwhelmed. Apparently they only had one person on housekeeping, and the rooms were not ready. Hard to believe with a holiday weekend and the hotel booked full, that management wouldn’t have thought to have extra hands on deck for housekeeping. Then, to top things off, while my husband and I do not mind dogs, this place was overrun with people and their pets. Thankfully, they all seemed contained on one floor and we were put on a different floor. Breakfast was hard to judge since we were there during the Covid pandemic. You had to request from a paper what you wanted as far as muffins, danishes, fruit cups, etc. and the lady went back to the back and brought it out for you. Most people seemed content with what she was bringing out. The room was extremely small (never gave that a thought considering the name of the hotel), and the room was very dated with mauve countertops and a torn up desk chair. But the room was functional and we were able to get some sleep and we did not hear the dogs barking thankfully. Walls are thin, we could hear people upstairs, but the bathroom is clean, the shower worked, and we got what we paid for. Also beware there is no fridge or microwave in room. Convenient location to gas stations, restaurants, and highways. …
Internet was terrible, totally useless. No mini fridge in my room, not sure about other rooms. Probably the best value for the area its in, if all you want is a place to sleep. Convenience store/gas just across the street.
The staff at the hotel was great. They were very accommodating and made sure everyone was happy. The location is close to many bars, restaurants, theaters as well as plenty of shopping. Also very close to the interstate.
