We stayed at this hotel last night. First impressions were very good. Clean lobby, fresh coffee and friendly staff. Our room was nice and clean, beds very comfortable. No complaints on any of the above. I guess what bugged me was that our room rate was over $100 and I had to go down to the lobby and ask for hair conditioner. Bathroom amenities were sparse, only one bar of soap and one small shampoo in the bathroom, not the norm with other Hampton Inns we’ve stayed at. Also, due to COVID there is no breakfast, understandable but we were given a bag with a bottled water, a pre-wrapped dried up stale muffin, an old hard orange that couldn’t be peeled and a granola bar. The “breakfast” was a real disappointment, especially for the price of the room. At the Holiday Inn Express the night before we were offered full bathroom amenities and the breakfast included an egg/sausage biscuit, yogurt, and a fruit cup and bottled water, all COVID friendly for basically the same room rate. It seems to me that the Hampton inn isn’t really trying to keep their customers during this time of COVID where the Holiday Inn is. I won’t go back to the Hampton Inn for that reason.

Thank you so much for your comments. I appreciate your comments about our wonderful staff and rooms. We continue to maintain our high quality of guest rooms and friendly service during these times. We have opened most of our amenities including our pool, fitness center and business center. As you experienced, we do continue to offer the breakfast to go bags but hope that we will be adding variety in the near future. The front desk is stocked with a variety of extra items for our guests including conditioner, lotion, shower caps, vanity kits, toothbrushes, toothpaste ect. We are happy to provide these when requested. I appreciate that you have chosen to go elsewhere during this time but hope that you will give us another chance when we finally do open our breakfast. You certainly can not go wrong at Hampton Inn Erie South with the friendly service and guest room/public area cleanliness. Thank you

Everything was great. Jan at check in was perfect a 12 for sure on a scale of 1 to 10. Danhane dealt with her my second day assisted me greatly with toilet issue. She was very quick to get that issue handled. Check in day I need a couple of items Jan had them ready for you. Dealt with the Kathy the GM at check out. Kathy always does a great job. Kathy been there a long time 20 years or more. Thanks for everything. Jan thanks for super quick check after a 3 hour drive. Thanks to everyone including housekeeping room was in perfect order. Thanks to maintenance man who fixed toilet problem on Wednesday promptly.

I traveled to Erie to do a presentation for an event. As we checked in Friday night we were immediately concerned by the lack of masks being worn by guests that were fraternizing in a a large group in the seating area adjacent to the lobby. Hampton Inn staff did not intervene to correct this even though masks are currently mandatory in Pennsylvania. We had a tough time relaxing in our room, 319, since the heater made a very loud noise at times. We had to crank up the TV volume to hear over the racket. The beds were hard and unforgiving. As I prepared to depart for my presentation I got locked out of my room. The front desk then informed me that I was due to check out! I had booked 2 nights via Hotwire. The front desk had no knowledge of my second night reservation upon check in nor did they know this on Saturday! After some searching they were able to “find” my reservation and insisted that I change rooms! They insisted that they were booked under 2 different room types and this forced me to change rooms just prior to my presentation! This was a major inconvenience and time waster. The General Manager, Kathy, did absolutely nothing to help with this situation upon being alerted by me after I returned home Monday. So my best advice is to steer clear of this poorly managed hotel.

Our room was clean and quiet. An extra bonus unlike other Hamptons was that you could run the HVAC fan to screen out noise from the hallway and the road. I had hoped they would have an outside 120v receptacle so we could plug our van in to charge overnight but no such luck. Better yet would be a Level 2 charger like the Springhill Suites just around the corner who has two of them.

I can't say enough how amazing the staff at this hotel is! Shelley, Jan, Robert and Kathy made our stay incredible! From the warm welcome. To the balloons for our daughters birthday to helping us book a surprise river boat sunset dinner cruise!! And the room was SO CLEAN! WE WILL STAY HERE AGAIN AND AGAIN! Thank you to all of you!
