We were looking for a B&B in the Lancaster county area over Labor Day weekend and just happened to find the Hertzog Homestead by chance. It turned out to be one of our nicest stay overs. A combination historic farm turned bed and breakfast by the current owners, it has several lovely suites in fieldstone buildings loaded with many original... More

We really loved staying here! It was in a very handy location, peaceful and quiet, but close enough to main roads to make a great starting place to everywhere we wanted to go. The room was appointed with a lot of little personal touches here and there that gave it a real homey feel. I have always been very particular... More

Kristen was such a wonderful host. We found the history of the homestead quite interesting. We stayed in the Hertzog Suite and the furnishings and decor were top notch. The room was perfect, we really enjoyed the very private patio and hot tub. The breakfast was fantastic, especially the scrambled egg casserole. It was a treat to enjoy a private... More

We loved our 5 night stay at the Hertzog B and B. We stayed in the Metzler Suite. It was spacious, furnished with antiques, nice towels and bedding. Breakfast different every day with wonderful baked goods. Convenient location for all the sites in the area. Scott and Kristen very easy to work with. I wouldn't stay any place else if... More

We have stayed at this B&B 3 times, right around our anniversary (July 19th), the first two times in the Metzler suite (original homestead), but this time in the Hertzog suite, which is part of the newly constructed "cottage of suites". It is FIRST class. The in-room breakfasts are top shelf, prepared by the neighboring Amish folks, and the attention... More

My husband and I stayed at this B&B the weekend of May 13. It was 1 of the nicest B&B's we have ever stayed at. We had the Hertzog suite in the carriage house which overlooked the beautiful farmland. Also, had a hot tub right outside our French doors outside. Very clean and the softest towels I have ever experienced!... More

My husband and I just spent two evenings at this fabulous Bed and Breakfast over the weekend. Kristen and Scott (and the kids) are fabulous hosts. We loved our room in the original house. So much history and there are lots of explanations everywhere explaining the unusual things in the suite (like the bible closet). The breakfasts were wonderful, the... More

We stayed in the Meyer suite, which was immaculate, charming and spacious. The fourposter bed with the hand sewn quilt was absolutely delightful. The sheets were soft and the Turkish towels were as soft as a cloud and what a pleasure to use, I was very hard-pressed not to take all of them home !! A small kitchenette in our... More

We were on a girls getaway and had The Buch and Meyer Suites which were connected. The rooms were both so comfortable, roomy and clean. The owners were very accommodating. There was a fridge in the rooms and they stocked them with sodas, water, and cider. There was a Keurig with coffees. The breakfast was amazing and we were able... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1786, the Hertzog Homestead Bed and Breakfast has been in our family for nine generations! Winners of the prestigious National Bicentennial Farm and Home Award in 2006, the home is an excellent example of early Mennonite architecture and history. What makes us different than a normal Bed and Breakfast is our private Amish made breakfast. Enjoy your delicious breakfast in the comfort of your Suite, on your own time! When you arrive, your breakfast for the next morning will have been prepared that morning and place in your fridge. We would also like you to enjoy an assortment of fresh baked goods. Just minutes away from area attractions, museums, outlet shopping, antiquing, and theaters, the homestead offers the tranquility and peace often needed during a vacation. ... more   less
