From the moment I reached the edge ofthe little town of Eagles Mere I could tell I was in a different type of place. At the time of my stay (February) most of the shops were closed for the season. I'm told this is a seasonal place where the town truly comes alive mid June till late August. My stay was a romantic getaway and the Eagles Mere Inn is the perfect place if you want to getaway from the big box stores and high tech. We were greeted by the innkeeper who was sweeping fresh snow off of the sidewalk. He introduce himself as Richard and asked if we needed help with our bags. I mentioned that my cell phone wasn't working and he stated that cell phone service is spotty but that local officals were working with several companies to bring reliable cell service to the area. He also showed me how to set up wi fi calling on my phone. Once we entered the inn a young girl, Tiffany was at the desk and immediately made us feel like we were long time returning guest. Calling my wife and I by name, we truly felt that this was a very comfortable place to spend the weekend. The inn has a full service restaurant and bar open year round and two seasonal dining options. A bartender who introduced herself as tammy G was setting up for dinner service. Even though the bar was not open yet, she gladly poured us two martinis to enjoy till the tavern opened at 5:00pm. Dinner was exceptional. The filet mignon was a perfect medium rare and my wife's flat bread pizza was cripsy and the toppings plentiful. Breakfast was very good. The staff shared what was there favorite breakfast item made by Tammy L also Richard's wife. I am told there is a story about Tammy G ( not Richard's wife) and Tammy L, Richard's wife and hope to here the story next time we get the chance to visit. We stayed in the Lewis Glass Suite. The bathroom is a little small but the size of the bedroom and living room were just the right size for a couple. We had the chance to glance into several rooms. The inn is quaint. You can tell the there was been a lot of work done to the exterior and that there is ongoing projects to the interior. The inn was busy but every empoyee took the time to share their history and connection to the inn and the area. We definitely plan to return in the summer to see the town when it is alive with over 2,500-3,000 people versus what Richard told us was a year population of about 125 people.

Property's Favorite Review
We arrived late on a Saturday after a day of sightseeing for a 3-day stay and were pleased with the warm and easy reception. We took advantage of the Drinkery downstairs to fill our bellies with delicious food and amazing drinks (thanks to Tammy). We slept like babies on a very comfortable and roomy double. We were on the third floor and the room was very quiet. Room and bathroom temperature controls were a nice touch. Breakfast had sweet and savory options along with continental items such as fresh muffins and fruit. Delicious and different every day. We only ate at the Inn during our visit and continued to enjoy Tammy's wonderful drinks. When I made my reservation, I asked if we could have dinner in their main floor dining room for our anniversary Monday night, not knowing they are usually closed that night, and they arranged for a very special dinner. What a fabulous way to celebrate our 31st! Lastly, the location was great for day trips to all that north-central PA has to offer.

The Inn is rather dilapidated and there is not much to do in the town. The owner was very crabby, did not look me in the eye during our interactions, and was always literally running around as though he was too busy or stressed to deal with guests. The room was in bad shape. The bathroom door would not close (!), the mattress was lumpy, and the atmosphere was dingy. Although there is a promise to cook breakfast to order, we asked for scrambled eggs and were told they couldn't do that. Other offers were very sweet casseroles (can't stomach that for breakfast) or small boxes of cereal. Very disappointing.

Dear Safari656832, I am very sorry the inn and the staff did not meet your expectations. I see by your profile that you stayed with us in April 2019 over 11 months ago. I guest we made a really bad impression . You are absolutely right about nothing to do in the town in April. It is prior to the opening of the lake and the museums in the area. That's what so many people that visit in April love about Eagles Mere, The tranquility of the area with a town population of less than 120 people and little traffic, it makes for a perfect time to reconnect to that special person or nature. The inn was built in 1887, we are constantly doing upgrades and repairs, I wish I had heard your concern about the bathroom door, I did find a door that needed repair and we fixed it last spring. As I think back to April last year, I will admit everyone was running around. The seasonal staff had not returned and I may have been a little stress in April. Tammy my wife, who normally takes care of breakfast had just had surgery so I was doing double duty. When we reopened the inn in 2015 we changed the breakfast option to a buffet for a majority of the time with a continental station and at least 4 hot items, yes we always have a sweet casserole and always have a savory egg item as well. In today's internet world there are still obsolete listings that cannot be removed. In the past year I have continued to try to remove old and prior owners listing of services to no avail. We cater to all dietary restrictions such as gluten free, dairy free and vegan, (however we do not do kosher since there are no rabbis in area to bless the food or kitchen on a regular basis.) Special breakfast request will always be honored, it may just take a additional time to make that special request. Please again accept my apologize for the inn not meeting your expectations. We strive to meet all of our guest needs and a majority of reviewers say we are doing it right. I will extend a complimentary evening to you during the peak season of Memorial day through Labor day if you want to give us another chance at showing what Eagles Mere offers in a different season. Call the inn directly and I will take care of the offer. Cheers Richard

My wife and I have been going to Eagles Mere for a quick get-away weekend for the last 12 years. The last 4 we have spent at the Eagles Mere Inn. Since new management has taken over, every year has been better than the last. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is excellent and the service is awesome. This year we had a small hiccup with our room and the length that the management went to rectify the situation was above and beyond expectations. I truly hope that this Inn (and it's management) remain a staple of the Eagles Mere experience for many years to come!
