From the moment I reached the edge ofthe little town of Eagles Mere I could tell I was in a different type of place. At the time of my stay (February) most of the shops were closed for the season. I'm told this is a seasonal place where the town truly comes alive mid June till late August. My stay was a romantic getaway and the Eagles Mere Inn is the perfect place if you want to getaway from the big box stores and high tech. We were greeted by the innkeeper who was sweeping fresh snow off of the sidewalk. He introduce himself as Richard and asked if we needed help with our bags. I mentioned that my cell phone wasn't working and he stated that cell phone service is spotty but that local officals were working with several companies to bring reliable cell service to the area. He also showed me how to set up wi fi calling on my phone. Once we entered the inn a young girl, Tiffany was at the desk and immediately made us feel like we were long time returning guest. Calling my wife and I by name, we truly felt that this was a very comfortable place to spend the weekend.
The inn has a full service restaurant and bar open year round and two seasonal dining options. A bartender who introduced herself as tammy G was setting up for dinner service. Even though the bar was not open yet, she gladly poured us two martinis to enjoy till the tavern opened at 5:00pm.
Dinner was exceptional. The filet mignon was a perfect medium rare and my wife's flat bread pizza was cripsy and the toppings plentiful.
Breakfast was very good. The staff shared what was there favorite breakfast item made by Tammy L also Richard's wife. I am told there is a story about Tammy G ( not Richard's wife) and Tammy L, Richard's wife and hope to here the story next time we get the chance to visit.
We stayed in the Lewis Glass Suite. The bathroom is a little small but the size of the bedroom and living room were just the right size for a couple. We had the chance to glance into several rooms. The inn is quaint. You can tell the there was been a lot of work done to the exterior and that there is ongoing projects to the interior. The inn was busy but every empoyee took the time to share their history and connection to the inn and the area. We definitely plan to return in the summer to see the town when it is alive with over 2,500-3,000 people versus what Richard told us was a year population of about 125 people.

This is an immaculate inn. The staff is very attentive; always asking if you have been helped or need help. My husband and I were able to use the inn’s bicycles to explore the quiet town and try kayaking for the first time on the lake. The food at the inn is delicious. Their breakfast especially is unique and plentiful. One warning. The “full” bed in the Iroquois room is slightly smaller than a true full-sized bed. We sleep in a full-sized bed at home with a 50 pound Beagle, and this bed was small for just the two of us.

Maybe it was the time of year, perhaps it was the Covid restrictions. We were underwhelmed by this inn. We stayed in one of the suites and I am glad that I brought my own disinfecting wipes as I was not convinced that the cleaning had been as thorough as it should have been (empty coke can laying on the floor near the TV). I'm not sure why breakfast has to be served in a box since they ask at check-in if you want it in your room (no table to eat on there) or would you rather sit in one of the dining areas. We opted for dining at a table in the public area. If they can serve a meal downstairs in the restaurant using plates and normal cutlery, they should be able to serve a meal for guests in the public areas as well. The breakfast was good but eating with plastic forks, etc. was not.
Speaking of meals - we were told that there was only one option (the pub downstairs) because the fine dining option was only open on the weekends. Now.....I'm not certain, but I have been told that Saturday and Sunday were always considered to be "the weekend" (of course you can throw in Friday after 5:00 too). We were there on a Sunday but the fine dining restaurant was not an option. Odd.
The area is picturesque but the options for entertaining oneself are few. Outside of the little museum, there was one tiny shop and a coffee place open. We have been to many B&B's and this was just okay. We were ready to checkout at 8:30 or so after breakfast but could not find a soul around. I finally had to go in search of someone in the kitchen to find out what we needed to do.

Dear LCorba, I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations. The weekend that you stayed was the orientation and training period of a new team in housekeeping . I will share your experience with the lead person to make sure that everything is completed to our standards. Covid 19 has made every business look at how they provide services. My guests and employee safety is the number one priority. We reopened in July with concerns on how we would operate in a safe and comfortable environment for both our guests and our employees. Based on recommendations by the CDC, the department of health and employee concerns, we decided that the risk factor was extremely high for the employees that work the breakfast period and opted to use disposals for breakfast. Our dinner service staff fell into the low risk category and felt comfortable completing service using normal plates and cutlery. Following guidelines that you will see in major chain hotels we offered the opportunity for guests to eat in their rooms. While this is not desirable as the rooms are not set for dining I would estimate that 10% of our guest chose to eat in their rooms to protect themselves rather than eating in a common area. I am sure you witnessed the dining tables void of flowers, condiments and placemats, all removed due to the recommendations to create a safe environment for our guests and employees. Due to Covid 19, we are following the mandated occupancy levels of 50% for indoor dining. This required us to not operate 1887 the formal dining experience this year so that we could use that portion of the inn for our mainstay dining "A C Littles Drinkery". I am sorry if the reception staff did not explain this clearly. In a non Covid environment there would be additional venues for entertainment including a world class car and air museum and countless fall festivals. This year over 95% of events and venues have cancelled or closed to maintain the safe levels that Sullivan County is experiencing through the Pandemic. To date we have 16 cases of Covid in the county. Truly commendable due to the safe practices of the community, the merchants and the visitors to the area. A small inn is operated by dedicated staff that wear many hats. Indeed at a small inn, you may not find someone waiting for guests to checks out, rather the staff is actively serving guests breakfast, geting ice buckets filled and possibly handling baggage for an elderly couple. When the concerns of Covid 19 pass, I would invite you to return to the Eagles Mere Inn for an evening on me. Over 99% of our guests say they will return. I would love the opportunity to gain a satisfactory rating from you and have you join the committed group of repeat customers. Cheers Richard

The Eagles Mere Inn was nice enough, but not worth the price. Covid caused a construction delay for the Inn, which is unfortunate for them, but unavoidable.
The manager/owner did a very poor job at hiding his stress. He was rude, curt, unfriendly and we felt very unwelcomed at every turn. We, therefore, spent as little time there as we could.

After preparing the wrong room for us, he asked us to come back later when the correct room was clean. We were made to feel that we inconvenienced him. He was also very rude about the need for dinner and breakfast reservations. It's fine that he needed them, but was so unfriendly about it.

Once we got back to our room, it was clean and nice, but nothing special. It had a nice garden patio, which we enjoyed.
They offer 2 Kayaks on a first come-first served basis, which we took advantage of after a delicious breakfast. Covid caused the breakfast to be "take out" and we had to look for a waitress and didn't get offered any coffee refills.
In the end it all became kind of funny.
It was the worst $195 I've spent in quite some time!

I would not return to this Inn due to the poor attitude of the owner. He was generally unpleasant and I'm quite certain that I never saw him smile. The rest of the staff seemed quite nice. I understand that Covid has caused unusual stress, but his job is to be welcoming and he failed on all levels.

I will not recommend Eagles Mere Inn to anyone. I have already told friends to find other accommodations.
The little town is quiet and cute, but be prepared to make your own fun because there's not a lot to do. I think that's the way it's meant to be, which is a good thing!

Dear Laura Rider, Please accept my apology for not meeting your expectations. I have looked into points you brought up regarding your reservation. The inn has two rooms designated as Select King rooms. The current website design allows for one room to be displayed as a sample of what the room type made look like. The sample room displayed for our Select King is the Flora Villa. We are exploring extended viewing process for all individual rooms to be featured on the website Your reservation was booked on July 21 at 6:14pm. Confirmation# 17501204 was booked through the Inn's booking engine. The reservation was assigned to Lover's Leap, a select king. 3:00pm is the posted check in time. This allows the staff to clean and prepare the inn for arriving guest. You arrived aproximately 1/2 hour prior to check in and escorted to the assigned room without being turned away due to the early arrival. Upon you sharing of your request to be in the Flora Villa, the staff proceeded to the Flora Villa and prepared the room for your occupancy. Due to Covid 19 mandates and recommendations we are required to complete meal services with all dining guest to have reservations. Reservations were extended to you at check in. Again, I want apologize if the sense of urgency came across as rude and unfriendly. Early arrivals do place a strain on getting the rooms and the outlets ready for service. The staff continues to seek ways to meet and exceed the demands of our guest. We always try to give the guest space and offer services that our guest expect. With the requirement to wear face coverings it is very difficlut to see facial expressions. If a guest appears to not want to interact with staff we do our best to provide space to our guest. That includes approaching a table at service time. I feel that with face coverings that may have been the reason that you were not approached at breakfast. Our guest are always encourage to speak up and share their needs . The same holds true for the opinon of guest and how staff is reacting to guest needs. It is unfair to judge whether a staff member or anyone for that matter is smiling or frowning behind a mask. I wish you safe travels. Richard

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying in the Lover’s Leap room at the Eagles Mere Inn this past weekend for our wedding anniversary. The owner and staff were friendly and gracious, the room was clean and comfortable, and the food was appetizing and delicious. We had a perfectly delightful time eating dinner Friday evening on the back patio and breakfast each morning on the front porch. Staying at the Eagles Mere Inn also allowed us to enjoy kayaking on the Eagles Mere Lake and having dinner Saturday evening at the Eagles Mere Country Club. The Eagles Mere Inn is located in the center of town with the Eagles Mere Museum and several charming shops nearby which we were able to explore. We also hiked the Falls Trail at Ricketts Glen which is only about a 35 minute scenic drive from the Eagles Mere Inn. Our visit was great and we would love to go to the Eagles Mere Inn again!

Since the last time we were here several years ago, the new owners have upgraded everything, making the Inn a wonderful retreat. We drove almost 3 hours from the Philly area with beautiful fall colors. Greeted by pleasant staff and informed of all the Inn offers. We had booked late and the only room available was a 3rd story double bed. Although the room was small, it was clean and fresh and had all that we needed for 2 nights. The bathroom was immaculate, the shower had immediate hot water and the tub was non skid with a grab bar. Loved the shampoo and soap. Danielle who cleans does a terrific job. I appreciated the great cotton blanket on the bed with a mid weight comforter so you can adjust to your comfort level. Also liked room darkening shades. We borrowed the functional new bikes with disc brakes to bike around the lake. Breakfast was served from 8-9:30 and was creative, delicious and filling. Coffee/tea was always available in the sitting area. Since it was mid week, the fine dining option was not available. We ate dinner both nights downstairs in the pub. Waitresses were prompt and food was flavorful. It was raining all day and we didn't even need to leave the Inn. Jim, the innkeeper, and Rodney at the front desk are really nice people. Although most of the town was closed up mid week in the fall, the country store is open. World's End State Park is nearby as is Rickett's Glenn for hiking. We hope to visit again this winter and again in the summer when we can use kayak on the lake. We recommended to family and friends.

My husband and I stayed two nights at Eagles Mere to have a little rest on our drive to New York. Given COVID concerns, this was an excellent choice. The health and safety precautions were in place and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Richard, the manager, was particularly helpful beforehand in helping us plan our stay on nights the restaurant would be open. We stayed in the Garden Cottage, where breakfast arrived in the morning to our room. Dinners were in the beautiful spacious garden courtyard where heaters kept us cozy and the food was delicious.

During the day we had a walk around the little lake, visited nearby World’s End State Park, and enjoyed the fall surroundings. The town is small and very inviting. We will definitely return to Eagles Mere Inn!

We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it. The room was cozy & attractive, the location was perfect and a delicious breakfast was included! We were offered heavenly peach oatmeal, chocolate chip brioche French toast, amazing sweet bread and omelets. Everything is made on the premises. The in-house restaurant was excellent for dinner, but does not serve every day.

My wife and I have been going to Eagles Mere for a quick get-away weekend for the last 12 years. The last 4 we have spent at the Eagles Mere Inn. Since new management has taken over, every year has been better than the last. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is excellent and the service is awesome. This year we had a small hiccup with our room and the length that the management went to rectify the situation was above and beyond expectations. I truly hope that this Inn (and it's management) remain a staple of the Eagles Mere experience for many years to come!
