Two friends and I cycled along the GAP trail last week and were greatly refreshed by our stay at Hanna House. Frances stepped outside to welcome us when we arrived and showed us where to put our bikes. We were completely surprised when we stepped inside to see the lovely, huge, open great room beautifully and creatively decorated. Frances had scrumptious brownies and tea waiting for us. We had a very large, open, and beautifully decorated room on the first floor. Frances happily drove us a few minutes into town to drop us off for dinner and picked us up after dinner. The beds were very comfortable. She provided multiple options for breakfast. We all had eggs cooked to order, bacon cooked to perfection, asparagus from her garden, toast, and a lovely fruit salad along with juice and bold, smooth coffee. It’s difficult to capture in words the extra something special that separates a great host from a good host that transforms the whole experience into something so memorable. Warmth. Genuineness. Kindness. Thoughtfulness. Willingness to flex and go above and beyond. Frances was all that in spades. We loved our stay and felt refreshed to hit the trail for the next leg of the ride. We will definitely be staying here again for future rides on the GAP trail. Thank you, Frances!…
We were delighted to stay at Hanna House. The proprietor Frances is a lovely lady and very welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the farm, savoring the beautiful surrounding landscape and watching the sun set from the front porch. We had been told by many beforehand that we would not leave hungry, and we were certainly not disappointed with deliciously varied and filling breakfast that fueled us for the start of another lovely day of cycling along the Great Allegheny Passage.
A friend had heard good things about Hanna House so I checked it out for our recent bike trip. When I called in March for our May trip, Francis was very flexible with cancellations. That sealed it, I made the reservation. What a delight! Our large, first floor room had quite a unique private bath and very comfortable twin beds. There were lovely spring flowers throughout the home. Francis couldn’t have been more accommodating, providing homemade snacks, use of the fridge, and asking our breakfast preference. As offered, she took us to town for dinner. We had so many questions about the house and how she came to Confluence almost 20 years ago. It’s an amazing story.
If you are looking for a warm, welcoming family stay, Hanna House is it! Frances immediately set the tone with her amazing brownies and ice tea. The farmhouse sits on one hundred beautiful acres that includes a big red barn and pond. The beds are super comfortable and you will wake up in the morning to the smell of bacon and coffee. Frances is an excellent cook and our breakfast also included juice, fresh fruit, homemade banana muffins, eggs and asparagus from her garden. We were well fortified before setting out on the GAP Trail! Frances does her best to make you feel at home and your stay at Hanna House an unforgettable one.
Our 2 night stay at the Hanna House was the perfect Mother's Day surprise treat! Frances is a warm, friendly, down to earth hostess with helpful suggestions for first time visitors in the area. Her cozy, rustic farmhouse posseses unique features. Breakfasts were healthy & delicious with several fresh ingredients from her garden! (glad we arrived during asparagus season!) Minted iced tea & brownies always available as a yummy snack! Great biking trails nearby. Fishing ponds on property for a fun catch & release experience. Felt so comfortable & at home with Frances. You'll leave relaxed, refreshed and blessed by a new sweet friend!
