My wife and I had been to Mombacho Lodge in previous years, and we made two visits there this year (February and March, 2018). Delightful as Granada is, Mombacho Lodge offers an escape from the heat. Cabins offer seclusion and privacy, and a young man supplies morning coffee

It would be a mistake to visit this region of Nicaragua and not stay at Mombacho Lodge. The food was fresh and delicious, prepared by Juan who will also take you on a magical night walk and point out all the incredible creatures such as huntsman spiders and colorful snakes (if

Let me start by telling you some reasons why you might not like this lodge: basic cabins, surrounded by trees and vegetation, inevitably some insects, two largish dogs, forthright American owner. Take a torch. Your mother wouldn’t like it. But a great welcome, much personal

Hello Barb, At the beginning of June, it is the rainy season, if it can rain whole days, it is rather rare on the Pacific coast and more often it rains only once the night falls. Between the airport of Managua and the lodge, it takes 45 minutes, I can organize a transport for US $ 45. In the Mombacho reserve, you have the different trek to the top of the volcano, there are also many trails offering nice walks, but you can also do the zipline in the middle of the fauna and flora, as well as horse riding Nearby, less than half an hour by car, you can go to the lagoon of Apoyo, visit Granada and the isletas, los pueblos blancos, as well as Masaya and its volcano which is still active and whose night visit is impressive.

Hi, the wifi at the lodge is slow, but can do emails. If you have a smart phone with 3G or 4Lte capability very good. There is hardwired wifi with a router at both the Park reception area and Las Flores. We are installing a new wifi system at the end of the month which we hope will work better than the mifi we have now.

The horseback riding is $25 per person. The ride starts at Mirevalle Canopy tour, goes along the base of the mountain and ends at Mombacho Lodge. It is about 2.5 hours. The local campasino (cowboy) takes you to his cooperative where he proudly shows you him animals and home and his wife serves you fresh juice. The guide does not speak English, but guests enjoy attempting to chat in spanish as he points out local flora and fauna. I need 24 hours to book this tour for you.
