My family and I cannot say enough about The Lodge at Glendorn - absolutely stunning location with excellent outdoor activities to match, lovely cabins and suites, a lovely main dining room, and truly exceptional service everywhere. We booked our return trip before we left, if that tells you anything!

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Glendorn, located on acres of beautiful wooded grounds and abutting the National Alleghany Forest. The property and Lodge are quite lovely with plenty of available activities -- swimming, tennis, croquet, skeet, fly fishing etc. Shane, the head of activities, was very helpful and set us up the first day with fly fishing in the capable hands of Ryan. . . . my husband caught a brown trout! (It is catch and release). The second day, Shave gave us several hiking maps in the area and we so enjoyed our day outside with nature. Coming back to the Glendorn each afternoon was delightful where we could settle down with a good book and relax. The dinners were delicious in the Great Room -- albeit from a limited menu which could be a result of covid. We felt very safe in this environment. We met other guests who have returned here many times and with big families. We highly recommend the Glendorn for a luxurious stay.

Glendorn has been part of my family's history over the course of 4 visits. The most recent was perhaps the finest, and that is improving on perfection. From the moment they open the gate, you are transported into an elegant world surrounded by brooks, lakes, and majestic forests. The accommodations are unique, and luxurious from the cool respite of a perfect screened porch to a crisp yet incredibly comfortable monogrammed pillow case. If you choose to take advantage of the pool, hiking, trap shooting, fly fishing - or just enjoy the peace and quiet and gourmet food and cocktails - you will find peace at Glendorn. The restaurant under Chef Haick is putting up Michelin quality dining each and every day. I almost don't want to write this review, because I'd love to keep it a secret - but you have to experience this property to believe it. (Perhaps the greatest testament is that my daughters spent more time off their phones than on. It's just that good.)

We decided to book a last minute getaway and wound up back at Glendorn. This was our 3rd stay at this magical place. I'll be honest, it is a splurge for us to stay there. The resort was almost at capacity, but we were able to book the recently updated Redwood room in the big house. We have previously stayed in the Dorn Suite and the Hideout. As one of the smallest accommodations on the property, the Redwood had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. The sunburst ceiling was really pretty. It amazes me to think in 1929 someone built this gem. How I wish I was born into that family. Anyway, there are perks to staying at the main lodge. For one, the pool, tennis/basketball/shuffleboard courts, the game room with ice cream, popcorn, gym, outfitters, bicycles, spa, gift shop, and dining are all nearby. This stay, we tooled around in a golf cart (I don't remember golf carts being available before). We made it a point to see everything we didn't get to see in previous visits. We enjoyed dinner in the wine cellar one evening, which was really special. I was in my glory looking at all the bottles of wine. Our server, Amy, decanted the wine I selected. The wine opened up and tasted even better. I really enjoyed it. We participated in the shooting sports with Jim as our wonderful guide. The activities staff is fantastic. If I had the choice, I would have stayed again at the Hideout. The Hideout is not for everyone, you have to drive up a steep curved hill with a major drop off on the one side to get to it. The Hideout is not air conditioned and does not have Wi-Fi. But for my husband and I, we are happy to disconnect. At our previous visit, we brought our .22 pistols and had a blast (no pun intended) using the old fashioned shooting gallery exclusive to the Hideout. The best thing about Glendorn, to me, is the exceptional staff that ensure your stay is memorable and wonderful. Once you enter the main gate, there is no reason to want to leave Glendorn until you check out.

First of all the staff (Elizabeth especially) was fantastic and all of the staff were super friendly! The air and water in and around Bradford is pristine …. And especially so at Glendorn. We went trap shooting with Jim and he too was a wonderful personality and an excellent teacher. Moreover, Jim accommodated 8 of us at the trap range … As for the food - Natalia and her staff did an excellent job. First night we had a Quintessa and the second night a Chassagne Montrachet all excellent and to us Californians - excellently priced! We have travelled the world and let Relais & Chateaux as our tour guide ... So when you combine the friendliness with the pristine air etc - this is heaven on earth! As for the accommodations - we enjoyed the charm of a by gone era … we stayed in the Hutch cabin and enjoyed every inch of it! At one point we had all 4 fires going and what a blast for our family reunion!
