I felt the need to share our wonderful experience this past weekend. The 4 of us were looking for a 2-night getaway within a 3-hour radius. The Glendorn was recommended so we booked. We had no idea that we would receive the attention and care bestowed as soon as we booked. Megan called us before our arrival to inquire about what activities we were interested in, and any food preferences/allergies. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly, our itinerary was reviewed including our meal time for dinner and the activities we booked. We were given a brief tour of the main lodge and the history of the Glendorn. We were then escorted to our cottage and given an overview of the amenities. We found our cottage fully stocked with water, soft drinks the infamous "Glendorn chocolate chip cookies, a delicious cheese and cracker plate, fresh flowers, a full stockpile of dry logs for the fireplace, and anything one would need as far as toiletries go. Once we settled in, we were asked to arrive 30 minutes before dinner to find a staff member at the door to welcome us, take our coats, and escort us to a beautiful gathering room for complimentary appetizers and cocktails. We were then escorted to the dining room where we received the BEST service any of us have ever experienced. We elected to order the 4-course meal prepared by their chef and were not disappointed. For breakfast every day we had the option to eat at the lodge or have breakfast delivered to our cottage, what..... we could not believe this! The following morning we awoke to our breakfast delivery, two gentlemen delivered more wood and shoveled and cleared our vehicle of snow from the night before. As you can see I am thoroughly impressed! This resort is a GEM and I highly recommend it. We look forward to returning.

My family had a splendid Thanksgiving weekend at Glendorn Lodge this year. While my wife spent time at the Woodland Spa my daughter and I enjoyed fly fishing with guide Ray, shooting clays, and pheasant hunting with guides Jeff and Charles who were very nice and professional. The hiking trails were quiet and scenic. The meals were wonderful and Thanksgiving dinner was served family style and the turkey was the best I have tasted. Kudos to Head Chef David who does a masterful job and who helped my daughter dress her birds then butterfly, filet, season and stuff to prepare Pheasant Cordon Bleu! The Roost was a perfect location, balancing privacy and accessibility. The staff was attentive to even minor details like making sure we had enough firewood, smores kits, & freshly cut sticks to use. My daughter's allergies were duly noted and all precautions were taken by both the kitchen and wait staff. Special thanks to Selina, Kyle, Emily (1), Emily (2), and Natalie. On arrival, after a long drive in bad weather, we mentioned at check-in how we looked forward to a nice fire after dinner. On returning to our cabin we were met by a roaring fire in our fire pit. Once, when we arrived too late to practice archery at the clay course a portable target was provided for my daughter to take back to our cabin and practice there. Keep in mind that this is an older lodge with many cabins built 50-100 years ago. The location is secluded, and the grounds are beautiful but the personal touch provided by the friendly and helpful staff is what really sets this resort apart. Thanks for making our holiday special!!

The arrival to Glendorn hints what you are about to experience. The several mile manicured private driveway through the woods and (assuming you have a reservation) brings one through tall wrought iron gates, flanked by stone walls from a hundred years ago. Clearly, you are about to step back in time. This place is a snapshot of a period when the uber wealthy, who wanted a country retreat, could have anything they desired. My wife and I stayed in “Miller” (c. 1919), Mr. Dorn’s first cabin. The large bedroom includes a sitting area, fireplace and a bath. The cabin also has another separate sitting room with sleeping nook, fireplace, an adjacent second bath, plus, there is a kitchen with breakfast seating. There is also a cozy screen porch and patio. Every room is unique in its craftsmanship. The entire cabin, except the bathrooms and the kitchen countertop, was built of chestnut wood. Dorn built this for himself and his son as a hunting cabin. You will not like this cabin unless you enjoy 100 year old perfectly maintained bath fixtures, and tiles - no ‘water saver’ valve in Mr. Dorn’s shower! ;) Mrs. Dorn was not about to sleep in any hunting cabin; and, she subsequently built the main lodge, which is a jaw dropper in every respect. The woodwork everywhere on this property dates back to a time when people of wealth had their craftsman build entire cabin interiors from pecky cypress, chestnut and other rare wood species. These people even brought their massive dutch oven from Holland, the front door of which is forty inches wide and seven feet tall. The Dorns built their dozen or so, each unique cabins, scattered in the woods both near and far from their spectacular main lodge home. Some cabins have been updated with modern conveniences; but, they all maintain a feel for a bygone era. My wife and I would have preferred our cabin to be without the TV; but, I guess some people can’t turn off the outside world, which is what this place is all about. (The “Miller” cabin, at $1,300/night, is inclusive of a breakfast far finer than the Four Seasons, and more professionally presented. We took breakfast each day in our cabin; and, all meals are offered wherever you prefer to have them.) Our former favorite place to retreat in the woods was Rolling Rock, which has become large and feels commercial. Glendorn remains small, intimate, has a far better chef, and more graceful service. Glen Dorn is truly serene. Do not change a thing. We will be right back.

Servers were Emily & Courtney. Bird hunting guides were Jeff & Shane. Three bird hunters stayed at the Roost Cabin. Clean, so relaxing, and good fireplace to take away the morning and evening chill. Always a fun and relaxing place to stay.

This resort is staffed with some of the friendliest, most helpful people I think I've ever encountered anywhere in the world. Everyone I met seemed to know who I was, and they always seemed to be hand to answer questions or volunteer their service. The resort itself is beautiful, and well maintained, and the cottage I stayed in was comfortable and loaded with charm. I love a good fireplace with a wood fire, and I had three! My only regret is that I only had two nights to stay there. Just a really warm and friendly vibe that's hard to describe. The fishing and shooting guides were friendly, knowledgeable, patient and hard-working (i.e., all you could ask for). The dining room and bar area were well set up and very relaxing. The waitstaff were incredibly well-trained and friendly and attentive.

My husband and I have visited Glendorn 10 times since 2005. It has certainly evolved over time. Where once we stayed for five days for what it costs for one night now, it doesn’t matter to us. It is our favorite place on earth and we’ve visited some of the most beautiful resorts throughout the world. We both love high quality - beautiful linens, amazing food, extraordinary service, feeling welcomed and honored. That, coupled with the most most amazing surroundings makes Glendorn a gem. The Dorn family opened this place to others long ago and we’ve seen the ups and downs as they worked to figure it out. Not all mangers were ideal. Sometimes it takes time to figure it all out. Once the property was purchased by Cliff Forrest, who saved the property which was going to be divided, forested and basically ruined, the consistency and quality improved exponentially. Once we pressed that button, and the gates opened we again entered our heaven on earth. It didn’t matter it was raining. The beautiful meandering creeks, the fauna and flora, are a country lovers’ dream. There was Elizabeth, standing outside the reception house, waiting for us with a big smile. Upon entering, glasses of champagne were handed to us while our entire itinerary, maps, etc were professionally laid out for us to view to make sure everything met our expectations. We carried our own belongings to the room but they would have gladly have done this. Just a simple ask but we wanted to first head in for lunch and wait for the rain to stop. Natalia, the Maitre De, whom we have k own since she first started as a server, was there with a hug and a beautiful welcome. Having written two leadership books, she is the kind of leader so many aspire to emulate - kind, supportive, anticipating the needs of the customer, supporting the staff’s success by setting high standards, and most impactful, respecting each of them and their own success. We have stayed in many of the cottages including all of the ones in the main house. We love the Balcony room. And we’ll always stay there. Flowers were waiting for us, cookies (a Dorn tradition carried on), and the bed beautifully made with a small box of amazing chocolates. Also, a small fridge was added since last time with bottles of water and a charcuterie board. We didn’t use it and they happily packaged it up to enjoy at home. The ice bucket was full, soft music was playing from the TV, and fruit was available on our bedside table. A very professional, inviting, respectful welcome to our three day stay. We shot several rounds of skeet with Shane, activities director extraordinaire, staff prepared the sauna, built by one of the ponds, with everything waiting for us to enjoy amongst the peaceful outdoors. Staff provided a cart which had our room name on so we could use it whenever we wished, we we did to travel the many paths that meandered throughout the estate with beauty surround that takes one’s breath away. We are in the dining room one evening and had planned a private dinner at Bondieu lake, but with the rain, Natalia suggested having a private dinner in the wine room. Upon arriving back at our room, a package was waiting for me - a note thanking us for returning to Glendorn and a candle I loved which was on sale in the reception house but didn’t purchase. They saw how much I loved it and gifted it to me! The pool was wonderful. Warm and clean, and we enjoyed a bike ride before departing. This is a place for those who love the country, who love the quality of craftsmanship poured into this refuge built by the Dorn family and preservation of original bathrooms among other things which allows you to step into a generational story. We love that this is being honored and we are grateful to Cliff Forrest for taking Glendorn over to ensure it will be here for many years to come. To the front desk - Megan, Elizabeth and Judy; to Natalia for overseeing the dining room and the best staff we have seen since we first started coming in 2005; to our servers Alise and Courtney; to Kyle, an amazing and engaging and professional bartender; to Shane for his ability to teach and instruct us which upped our scores shooting skeet (along with just enjoying conversation and stories about the outdoors and our collective love of dogs); to Mr. Forrest, who was constantly mentioned by staff for being an extraordinary man and leader; my husband Dennis and I, thank you. We have a list of friends who want to return with us. And return we will! Next year? We’ll do all we did this time and add in a day of fly fishing (with filet mignon, vegetables, and wine grilled and served by the river edge half way through the day - with linen tablecloths and napkins and beautiful plate and glass ware!). We will be back, year after year, to this heaven on earth. We are so appreciative.

Totally fantastic experience. We stayed in the Guest House, a 4 bedroom cabin within easy walking distance to the main house. We had all meals except a lunch along the river, at the Glendorn dining facility. We hiked the trails, and we had guided fly fishing 3 days. The guides were outstanding, especially patient with a couple novices. We also did a guided drift boat on the Clarion River with shore lunch; a tremendous experience to say the least. Cant wait until our next Glendorn adventure!!

We had amazing stay at Glendorn! The staff was superb- gracious, professional and helpful. My husband scheduled a half day fly fishing session and Shane and we both had a casting lesson with Charles - both were wonderful. Helpful experts, they made our weekend all the more enjoyable. We stayed at the Overlook cottage and it was so beautifully appointed and cozy we just loved it. Lastly - the food- was extraordinary! We’re both foodies and absolutely loved every meal - the chef is masterful! We can’t wait to schedule another visit!

This might be one of the best weekend getaways we have ever taken! The customer service was phenomenal. Every single person we came across, was kind, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and relaxing. The cabin we stayed in was so well appointed, the fireplace was ready to go, The furniture was very comfortable and it was beautifully decorated. The outdoor activities, and the team that ran them, were so much fun, there’s som thing to do for everyone! After a full day outside, it was such a treat to walk in to one of the most beautiful dining rooms I have been in and have a dinner prepared , that was absolutely delicious. I eat mostly plant-based and the chef and team accommodated that. It was such a treat! We highly recommend the Glendorn!

Our previous visit to Glendorn was exceptional so its hard to think how this visit could have been better . . . but it was. Our cabin was cozy and very well appointed. The food was unique and very professionally prepared. The wine list is world class. Every employee we encountered was friendly, helpful and very professional. And you can't beat the setting. We can't wait to go back.
