A Christmas Birthday Treat at The Chancellor’s House

From the moment you cross the threshold of this stunning B&B home you enter the bygone Victorian era. On the right, as you enter the hallway, is a charming colorful parlor with two settees facing one another inviting guests into conversation while being warmed by a gas fireplace. On the left, is a beautiful Dining Room where breakfast is served. The dining table seating, perhaps, as many as ten guests. The Library Room is a work of art. There are exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, sofas, chairs, and a footrest for the comfort of guests. There is a built-in bookshelf with volumes of religious books and bound editions of books pertaining to the Civil War. There are three bedrooms for guests, and we booked the “Dogwood” Bedroom. It had a 4-poster queen bed, with marble top nightstands, four comfortable chairs and soft lighting throughout the room. The bathroom had a tub as well as a separate walk-in shower. There was a small collection of books in our room, and it was the poetry of Robert Frost that caught my eye. The hosts of this beautiful home were very sociable and accommodating. They welcomed my wife and me as if we knew one another. We came as guests and left as friends.

My husband and I spent three lovely nights in the Park View room overlooking lovely manicured gardens. The home is beautifully appointed and lends itself to a home away from home experience with a comfortable parlor and an amazing library where guests can spend quiet time or enjoy conversation with the hosts and other guests. The rooms are immaculate and the furnishings take you back in time but provide all the the necessary amenities. I would be remiss if I did not mention the delicious breakfasts, lovingly prepared and served promptly at 8:30am. Carol and Battle were flexible however, serving my husband an early breakfast so he could make his scheduled tee times at the Omni golf course! Treat yourself to a few days in this quaint little town of Bedford PA and a memorable stay at the Chancellor's House B&B.
We will definitely return to see our new friends, Carol andBattle Brown

Excellent bed and breakfast host in their Victorian style house. The bedroom and bath were very comfortable, clean, and up to modern standards. The location was perfect to walk downtown and Breakfast was served as you would expect in a Victorian style.

The house is indeed historic, well-kept, and absolutely beautiful. It is in close proximity to the historic Bedford Village and downtown. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and hosts were very knowledgeable about history, and that was quite helpful.

At ages 39 and 46 with a weekend absent of our four children, we felt like teenagers with a curfew. We felt uncomfortable as if we were intruders to the point where we entertained the idea of abandoning ship and going elsewhere. We have been guests to multiple B/B always with positive memories / experiences. We have always sought clarity in terms of expectations prior, as there are subtle variations amongst B/B. Our communications prior to our visit did not align with our experience. Reading the previous comments, we understand the rave reviews. We wish we could have experienced the same.

We had a reservation for Friday, Parkview room. House looked good and it is clean. I told him when we would be coming and the front door was locked! Owner Steve seemed bothered by me not bringing my bags in immediately. I always like to check out the room first. Showed me the room, it looked good. Asked him for a key, he stated "you don't need one, lock the door when you go to sleep". The door wouldn't close far enough to engage the lock mechanism. We ran, didn't even stop to say we were leaving.

Three couples booked an overnight stay at the Chancellor’s House and we all agreed that it was the best bed and breakfast we ever stayed in. The house is beautiful and furnished with lovely Victorian pieces. The library is very welcoming and comfortable and has a gas fireplace. Our host, Carol, gave us wine and a delicious charcuterie board when we arrived (completely unexpected). Our rooms were large with comfortable beds and really nice bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The breakfast was very good and served to us on gold rimmed fine China in the dining room. There is off street parking and an easy walk to Bedford’s charming downtown. We will definitely return!

We loved our stay at the Chancellors House. Carol was very welcoming treated us like friends. Breakfast was beautiful and delicious. She was very conscious about any food allergies which is very important to me. Room was beautiful and we felt very comfortable there.

Girls’ night getaway (4 of us). Really neat, historic home. Spacious room (4 people). The owner, Battle, was kind. We knew we were at a BnB, but no one else was staying the night, so it was an unexpected surprise to have a non-guest enjoying breakfast with us. It was fine, because he was a nice gentleman and all, but us girls wanted to spend our last moments together catching up before we headed out (not all of us live close to each other). No big deal. Other than that, it was a nice, clean home in a great location -near everything, including Omni Bedford Resort, and I recommend! Also, great coffee!

This place is fabulous. Decor is tastefully done. All amenities as stated. Quiet neighborhood. The owners were very hospitable and well versed in sharing the history of the place in your tour of the place. The breakfast was amazing and high class setting. We will be visiting again in the spring.

I had a wonderful time at The Chancellor's House. The owners were very welcoming. Carol made me a lovely charcuterie tray by the fireplace with a glass on wine. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. Carol was very accommodating to my gluten-free diet. As a history lover, the house was feast for the eyes. Carol even helped me carry my bags to the car! I would love to visit again the next time I am in Bedford.
