Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favorite
Winter King Tides are wonderful to watch at the rocky coast of Yachats, but it is also often stormy and rainy, so it is nice to have a cozy hotel room to admire the show while staying warm and dry. Our usual hotel was booked, so we tried the Yachats Inn for ourselves and our dog. Here is how it went: 1) After booking online and putting in a request for a "room with a view" that also allowed a pet, I got a response back in minutes that this would be accommodated. 2) When I called to move the date of my stay forward by a day, it was also pleasant and easy. 3) Very friendly staff again at check in. We were warned that our room was in an "older part" of the hotel. 4) Yes, the room we were given had older wood paneling and sturdy, simple, worn wood furniture but it did not look run down. Everything was clean and functioning and comfortable, including the bed. Big porch windows had view of lawn and shrubs that granted some privacy but we could admire the coast and waves from the comfort of sitting on the bed.
In summary, I would gladly stay at the Yachats Inn again because of good service, very decent pricing, excellent location. The older part of the hotel facing the ocean is not luxury central but it was a warm and cozy "room with a view", just as promised.

This place is truly special. The staff is family owned and operated and I’ve never met more competent or caring people. Right off the bat I was impressed with the service and it only continued from there. The property is beautifully manicured and if you get a free standing apartment “kitchen” suite (like a one bedroom apartment) than most of them have a great view of the property, ocean or both. There’s also a bathtub, fireplace, and little patio! The bed was comfy and I’ve never slept better—something about waking up to hear the surf and smell the fresh sea breeze I will never get over. Also the frogs will sing you a sweet song to sleep if you listen closely. I’ve never stayed anywhere more charming.
Super short walk away to the waves, the beach, and town is just around the bend (also an easy walk). The pool also has a view of the ocean. So cool. Did I mention dog friendly?
FYI. If you notice some difference in reviewers experience I believe it’s the difference of the units verses the rooms. The rooms are more vintage and though they have nice updates, I highly recommend the kitchen units as opposed to the rooms (I’ve stayed in both). The units are fantastic and worth the tiny bit extra. The rooms have great decks and patios to a lovely beach view but there is an old funk smell that unless you are a smoker is noticeable— so do yourself a favor and get a kitchen suite—have your wife thank me later.
You’ll want to plan to book a few extra days because this place is like a warm hug. It’s unlike anything out there these days. You can get a clean room almost anywhere but encountering amazing humans on the road is priceless. Thank you Yachats Inn for making my summer to the coast a lovely and wonderfully memorable stay. I’ll be back!

During August, we spent three weeks at the Yachats Inn. Our stay began when we lost an existing reservation at another motel. I happened to call the Yachats Inn and explained to Tim what our problem was. He checked the reservation system to see what was available. He told me that if we were willing to change rooms twice, he could provide us with lodging. Two days after arrival, we were told that there was no need for any room changes. The Inn Manager had called a couple other guests and asked if they would change rooms. I requested none of this. On the first call to the Inn, Tim spent 20-25 minutes on the phone to solve our problem and get lodging for us. This family-owned place knows what friendliness and service are all about.
The motel has several different types of rooms, so most everyone can have whatever they want. It is a little hard on the website to sort out all of the room types out. Some of the rooms should be called vintage. They are older. But every room that I saw was quite clean. Our “room” was a fully furnished and equipped one bedroom apartment. There appear to be many of these kitchen units available
.
Any request that we made of any staff member...housekeeping, maintenance, front desk....was taken care of immediately and with a smile. Some things were brought to the door by staff. COVID protections were fully implemented.
The Inn is an ocean front property with lots of views and quick access to the beach. During the visit, we collected 30 sand dollars and a half dozen agates. Natasha taught us how to locate razor clams, where to look for agates, and where, at extra low tides, to look for sand dollars.
This unplanned stay was one of the best parts of our summer outing. We already have our next reservation on the books.

Saturday was a beautiful day so I took off to the Coast! Yachats Inn has recently generously joined our team with Cancer Creates Warriors and I've been very excited to meet the family in person! Even after growing up at the Coast, the treasures I found during my visit were exactly what I needed. I definitely recommend the Orca Suite! This one bedroom, with living room, fireplace, deck, and fully furnished kitchen was not only quaint but extremely comfortable. The beach and tide pools were a short walk down.....and the views, WOW!!! I am so very thankful to send our Warriors to this location on their Smiles Getaways. I was only there overnight, but all the responsibilities at home seemed like a lifetime away.

We appreciate the owner’s intention of making travel lodging with an ocean view affordable for almost everyone at a very reasonable price point.
We stayed in the vintage section with all the expected 1940’s patina. We had a north view room(#14)and stayed mid May. We didn’t even haggle the cost. It was extremely reasonable for an ocean view room with a view of the sunset.
The bedding, towels and place is clean. There is coffee and a refrigerator. There is access to a full size stove/oven/microwave in the “rec”reation room.
You must have traveled on a family vacation in a station wagon in the 1960’s and 70’s to enjoy a rec room! (Aka The getaway space for teenagers to meet teenagers on vacation. Sometimes, there was hi-fi record player or 8 track player to blare, “Born to be Wild”)
It is not a pristine, hipster or swanky spa type lodge on the ocean but a motel with a soul and history and a proprietor with a conscious to make travel affordable for all. Plus, there is a newer section as well. We have stayed there in the past. It is tastefully decorated but lacks the intimacy with the ocean.
Thank You Yachats Inn. Keep Yachats Eccentric!

I don't want others to know about this place because I will have to share if I tell people how wonderful this place is
Crystal who runs this Inn with her family was super sweet and friendly. She made us feel like we were staying with family. There are newer rooms and older rooms as well as condos to rent. We chose an older room (built in the 1940's) per Crystals recommendation due to our requests. The rooms are older (at least the ones we chose) but so clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable. New carpet and a flat screen TV. A small private back deck with chairs for each room. The community room is so cute and I was comfortable using the kitchen in there.
The pool was nice and clean. The hot tub was nice after a long fun day. Fantastic view of the ocean in the pool house and from the rooms.
Movies for VHS and DVD available to watch. Snack and drink vending machines. Coffee. Pet friendly. And they give you towels for the pooches to wipe their feet 😊
Beach right across the grass with tide pools to explore and clam digging or driftwood hunting.
I will definitely go back here.

My mom and I recently stayed at the Yachats Inn in one of the upstairs suites (in early January). The suite had one bedroom, a living room with a fireplace, and a kitchen/dining room area (as well as a nicely appointed small bathroom with a tub/shower and skylight in it). The living area had a couch and chair so you could sit and relax next to the fire while viewing the ocean. Had we known how relaxing it would be, as well as what a great deal it was at The Yachats Inn, we would have booked more time there rather than just one night. But we will definitely return!
This was our first and only trip during the entire past year due to COVID. The Yachats Inn is family-owned and the family seemed genuinely happy to have our business. Most small businesses are truly struggling due to COVID, especially those in the hospitality industry. It's important that we all work together to make sure that these mom and pop "shops" stick around as the world is a better place with them in it.

If you're looking for a good vacation spot on the Oregon Coast, the Yachats Inn is one of the best places I have stayed at. It is a family owned business, which makes the place feel welcoming and homey. The staff were very helpful when I had any questions about the rooms or needed anything. The room I stayed in was affordable, well kept, open, and had a great oceanfront view, making it possible to enjoy the waves as I woke up. I was also able to enjoy the pool and lounge. The front desk was very sweet and informed me that the housekeepers didn't do stay overs at the moment due to COVID, understandably. However, they provided me with towels, blankets, extra pillows, etc. It was a really nice experience. Yachats is an excellent tourist town to explore and relax, if you need a place to stay or are looking for a vacation this summer, try the Yachats Inn in Yachats, OR. You won't be disappointed.

My family is over the moon with the Yachats Inn. The location is fantastic in terms of ocean access, tide pools, and spectacular views as well as access to our favorite hiking trails. We stayed in the older part of the inn built in the 1940s and found it quaint and comfortable. My kids loved the pool and hot tub. I can't wait to go back and make use of the game room and common kitchen as well.
I'm thankful that our favorite Airbnb rooms were booked so that we were able to have this fantastic experience which we found to be a much better value and offer additional perks that you can't find in an Airbnb!!! Love it!! Thank you.

I rented the "Original suite #8". It is the last unit on the south side furthest from the ocean. The unit was spacious with a small kitchen and a sitting area that had a lovely view. Everything would have been great if not for the moldy, musty smell that nearly knocked me down as soon as I opened the door. It had the odor of a damp basement with a couple of dogs living there.
There was not adequate ventilation. There was a nice big picture window looking out at the ocean but only the bottom corner opened. The small bathroom window opened as well as the window in the kitchen but this did not provide any cross breeze.
A fan would have been helpful.
I opened the door (no screen) and all the windows, made a pot of coffee and started a fire to try and mask the odor - it did help some.
The unit could definitely use some updating - broken lamp shades and torn curtains but that didn't bother me nearly as much as the smell.
Overall I would give it 7 out of 10 for cleanliness.
The other thing to note about this unit is you have to go out the door and around the building to access the deck, there is no access from inside the unit. And be careful as you walk around the building - I dodged 6 or 7 piles of dog poop after stepping in the first one. I realize this is the fault of inconsiderate dog owners but the management should be cleaning the grounds and providing dog sanitation stations, which I didn't see any of.
Also this unit does not have WiFi access, it's too far from the router.
I might try staying here again, perhaps in a different unit.
