We were thrilled to find such a perfect spot for our overnight stay in Vernonia. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Julie, the host, was friendly, accommodating but not intrusive. We look forward to staying again on our next trip through.
Second time staying at this lovely house with great hosts. Everything we needed with so many great decorative touches - really made us feel at home. And breakfast was awesome. We'll be staying again next time we're anywhere in the area. Thanks Julie!
My toddler son and I stayed at this inn during an overnight adventures on the Banks-Vernonia trail. The house is located a quick walk from downtown, where there are a few restaurants/bars. Our room was very modern, with wood floors, ensuite bathroom, and a fun theme/decorating. They have room for four guest parties, but it felt like we were the only ones, even on a busy night. Best of all our hosts were super kind at all times: playing with my son, cooking a gourmet breakfast, and even helping get us back to town when a rainstorm hit. I generally don't like small town B&B's, but I strongly recommend this one, especially if you are biking/running the trail.
Loved most everything about this place. We had the downstairs room (600 sq ft) that included a full kitchen, a room with two recliners, tv and a daybed/trundle bed and a bedroom. We also had a private entrance which was nice. Plenty of towels, hot water with good pressure. Kitchen had all you needed for the stay including a small dining table. The only two things that kept me from giving it a 5 was the mattress cover that sounded/felt somewhat plastic-like and made me sweat. I had to put down a towel so I could sleep. Also, if you are a light sleeper, there was a lot of floor squeaks from upstairs right above the bed that kept waking me up. Didn't bother my hubby at all. (Lucky guy!) Julie was kind enough to let us park our vehicle before check in in the driveway and ride our bikes from there. Breakfast was amazing and worth the money. Julie is a sweetie to work with and I'd stay again for sure. Can't go wrong here.…
Owner was a pleasure to work with, very accommodating and nice. We stayed in "The Bees Nees" room. Everything we needed for a 3 night stay. Nice little common area with a keurig and snacks and fridge. Highly recommend!
We stayed for 3 nights at the end of October. This B&B is very near the Vernonia end of the rails to trails bike route that extends 21 miles to Banks, a very pleasant ride. Also within a reasonable driving distance is the State Park at Saddle Mtn, a very prominent peak and interesting hike. Seaview, on the Oregon coast, is about an hour's drive away. We stayed in the lower level apartment, which was very comfortable and clean and offered kitchen facilities, very helpful in Vernonia which doesn't offer much by way of good restaurants. Anyone looking for a luxury B&B should look elsewhere (probably not to be found in Vernonia) but for a quiet comfortable place, with a good breakfast provided, this is a good choice.
We stayed three nights at the Carpenter's House recently with another couple as part of our trip to the area to ride bicycles on the Banks-Vernonia Bike Trail. We were in an upstairs room (Dovetail), and our friends were in the large unit downstairs (Sawtooth room). The host family is extremely welcoming and accommodating. The rooms had everything we needed for the trip -- the extra sitting room space and kitchen area in the Sawtooth room made it particularly easy to move our post-bike gathering time inside when the weather proved to be a bit cool for sitting outside the first two nights. Everything was super clean and the bath towels were plentiful and fluffy. And the FOOD: Julie delivered completely different and delicious breakfasts each morning -- and even helped us turn the last morning into a birthday celebration for one of the members of the group. Can't say enough good things about the quality and thoughtfulness of Julie's preparation. And not just the breakfasts -- beautiful setting for wine/hors d'oeuvres outside on the back deck. We all enjoyed our stay (and a chance to hang out with the family dog and two cats outside as well -- hard to beat a glass of wine in one hand, a snack in the other and a purring cat in my lap!)…
Everything about the Carpenter's Guest House will make you feel comfortable and at home. Julie is a great host and the house is very nice and homey. We have stayed in the Birdseye room 4 times or so. It is an awesome room and very quiet. It on the top floor and is sort of like being in a tree house :) Outside of the room are complimentary snacks and drinks. The location is also great because it is centrally located between the lake, the Museum and the Town of Vernonia.
This very nice located B&B was a real pleasure to stay. It's within walking distance from the Lake of Vernonia, which is also a must to visit. I was lucky to get the "Aviator's Suite", a very clean room which features everything you need for a comfortable stay. Cable-TV, WiFi, an own bathroom and shower, A/C, a cosy bed, drawers and a little desk. The room is very nicely stuffed too. The host family is very kind and helpful and they will make you feel "at home" right from the first minute. Ask Julie for soft bolied eggs for breakfast. They are simply perfect. Last but not least, every time I pulled over in the parking lot, I was personally welcomed either by their sweet little dog, the lovely cats, or by all of them together. That made my homecomings even more enjoyable. There is truly no better place to stay in Vernonia than this B&B.…
spent some time on vacation here. this place was within walking distance of everywhere I wanted to go. the apartment was much larger then I expected and priced was more then reasonable. Very quaint, clean, quiet and peaceful. the whole experience was so refreshing. I plan to vacation here every year.
