Detailed Reviews
We overnighted here the other night and were delighted with what we found. The rooms, lobby, and other facilities are all updated comfortably and tastefully. (The mattress deserves special mention.) Each room had a view of the Columbia, the Dalles Dam, and the toll bridge to Washington, and there were outdoor viewing areas as well. The highway noise was undetectable in the rooms. Best of all, the staff was friendly and outstanding. A special shoutout to Gunner, who suggested we try the nearby Highway House for dinner, a locals' favorite. Wonderful!

The Celilo Inn is on the hillside overlooking the Columbia River, The Dalles Dam & Bridge, and pretty much all of The Dalles. The king room with a view was spacious, laid out well *we really liked the separation of the fridge / microwave, closet, bathroom from the main living space. The bed was comfy, lighting was great, and we were able to leave the curtains open all night as the room was situated where no one could see in while we had the best view of city lights at night, & Mt. Hood in daytime. The included breakfast was basic but good, cinnamon rolls, good coffee, plus all the other usual items you’d get. There is much to do in The Dalles and surrounding areas. The riverside bike trail was very fun, yes we rode at 38 degrees. We had planned one night but loved the motel so much we decided to stay, and are very glad we did.

Nice quiet location with great views. The desk staff is helpful, accommodated us last minute with good rooms. Clean rooms, all the amenities we needed. Breakfast included, but simple, just coffee, fruit, and packaged muffins. The location is about 5 minute from town. Recommended for anyone

I read the review but did not connect the dots it is a great place for couples but not for the business traveler. The room was quiet (no freeway noise and only heard one train at 0330) had a great heater and nice TV and the water was hot. OK the reason for my disappointment. The room was very small and did not have a table for computer work, there were only two free plugins (not counting the two in the bathroom) on the end table next to the bed (I carry a multi plug so that problem was solved). Having to sit in bed with the computer on your lab is not good. If you are pulling any kind of trailer do not go there the driveway and parking is so small had I not arrived early I would not have been able to turn my Ram with a very small trailer around. There were only three hangers for clothes in the room (they did provide three more when asked). The bathroom floor was sticky and the water pressure so low combined with the low flow shower head adjusted to best flow made showering and rinsing off a real chore. There were amenities provided I did not use these (I bring my own) I would not recommend this motel for the business traveler. The front desk staff were very friendly and check in and out very easy. The lobby was clean and comfortable they offered a breakfast (I did not use) and coffee at all hours.

We do have better designs in other king rooms. The bathroom area will be passed on to our maintenance department for quick updates. Let us know your needs on your next booking so we can better serve you.

The room was freezing cold and took a while to heat up. The bed was really comfortable, however the cover at the end of bed had two very yucky stains on it. I was charged $50 for incidentals that would be credited the next morning, however no one answers the phone and the charge is still on my bank. This is the most frustrating part of the whole stay.
Suggestions: Fill up the shampoo bottle, body wash to the top. They were half full and that is visually and mentally not pleasing. We did not use them. Put a light in the hallway, very dark, hard to see to make coffee.

We walked into the bathroom and nothing had been cleaned. The bathroom sink was crusted with spit out food and toothpaste. The washcloths were used, hanging on the towel rack but all other towels had been taken by the maid. No soap in the bathroom or shampoo & conditioner. We told the receptionist Kristina Lagewaard. She made us wait for 30 mins. and told us she would put us in another room that she had checked. We had watche her outside and never saw her go across the road to either the old or new room. We went to the new room, and same thing, the bathroom was filthy. She had also previously told us that the rooms had been sanitized for Covid-19. While waiting in the lobby for another hour, another customer complained about the same thing so obviously, none of the bathrooms had been cleaned. Normally, this is of course not acceptable, but during a pandemic? She said they were short on staff. Why were they renting out dirty rooms then? Why wasn't someone cleaning if they were short, even if it wasn't on their job description? Unbelievable. None of the guests were wearing masks and we did not see any signs asking people to do so, or stand 6 feet apart. We ended up being transferred to another hotel which was much cleaner and had Covid-19 signage.

We booked a King Suite because there were 2 separate rooms, which we need since my husband watches tv after I've gone to bed. On the plus side, the two rooms were very comfortable, clean, well supplied, with good climate control and a great view.
On the not-so-positive side, the wifi was appallingly bad. Checking email required reconnecting and reconnecting and ...you get the image. Breakfast was minimal and the room had woefully inadequate seating. Worst was housekeeping. I get that finding staff is a bear, but housekeeping missed that the toilet had backed up (we didn't realize until we got in, and there was a bulb out in the vanity. The next night, housekeeping never showed up at all and I had to go fetch toilet paper and towel.s
I would not stay here again,

We booked this place to break up the 9 hour drive to Medford from Spokane.
We used Booking.com for this reservation and 2 weeks before my husband had to change the date by 1 day.
After calling Booking.com they said it would cost more than the nightly fee to change the reservation! (They were located in India by the way).
I called the Cello Inn and was told it was okay to change with no fee and that they were having LOTS of trouble with Booking.com. However this was the only positive with this place.
Hard to find with no signs, very uncomfortable bed (we did not sleep) and extremely noisy air conditioner. My husband said the coffee was good though..........

Our standard king room was clean, odor-free, and spacious. In addition, the standard king rooms have a breathtaking view of the Columbia River, The Dalles, and Mt. Hood. Breakfast included toast, bagels, sweet rolls, fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries, cheese chunks, boiled eggs, yogurt, juice, coffee and a wide selection of tea. We are thankful for Paula, the Night Auditor, who went above and beyond, to solve a problem with our reservation. She was professional, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Above all, she cared enough to help strangers in a jam. This motel is a good place to stay.

We loved our brief stay here in The Dalles, OR. Our room was super, the staff awesome! Karlas recommendation of Sahara Pizza who delivered a delicious meal in record time was perfect after a long day of driving. Small hotel with a beautiful view. Definitely will be back. And I highly recommend you give them a try!
