We got two nights at the Sunriver Resort just to get away from the Portland area and it was very nice. Got to go sledding and play in the snow on the mountain. The resort was clean and up to Covid-19 standards. We did not get to experience the restaurants but that is to be expected. Overall, the experience with the family and dog friendly rooms exceeded our expectations. Will be planning on going there every year for Winter and Summer. Making this our new tradition versus Bend and other places.
I will start my review first by acknowledging that our resort experience is completely different from those of ordinary days where COVID-19 restrictions aren't in place. No restaurants or bars for in-person dining, limited entertainment options, Thanksgiving meals as delivery or pick-up only. This was our first time visiting Sunriver, and I could see how much of a special place this is and would be if their hands weren't tied. Check-in was easy, room was clean and comfortable, and the resort was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Even though the social distancing minimized the cheer, the kindness and sincerity of the resort staff made us feel glad to be there. With no kids or big family gatherings this year, my wife and I decided to spend Thanksgiving in a resort room at night and daytime outdoor activities like snowshoeing and shopping. COVID has made things made things incredibly difficult logistically, especially for resorts and hotels just doing their best. For example, we purchased a couple Thanksgiving dinners for us to eat in our room, but unfortunately there was no table in our room at all. We ended up using a foot stool from the balcony, used a bathroom towel as our table cloth, and sat on the floor of our room. All fun and comical, however it would be helpful if some thought would be put in to a customer experience where the food is being delivered to rooms with limited furniture. No plates, just boxes of disassembled food. We did call and ask for plates and some were delivered, though our request for any type of tray or table wasn't responded to. We're good sports about all the complexities involved with modifying customer service to balance the demands of customer service and safety, so our suggestion would be to put some thought into what challenges your customers might have with the basics in meal delivery. Oh, the food was amazing... cold... but amazing. It was also 25 degrees outside... so we greatly appreciated the service staff dealing with weather and our accommodations, all with a smile.…
Newly remodeled rooms nice, but why take out the Table & chairs?? They replaced them with 1 desk chair & a Bench!! That meant nowhere to sit your food to eat at! We are 61 years old and need a table & Chairs. Especially this COVID year! Take out food only available!!
We enjoyed our trip, it was very beautiful.. Carson Kitchen food was pretty good. The only thing that bothered me was the added “gratuity” fee I was charged when I checked in.. I was not told beforehand that I would be charged that.. an extra $106.00
We always love staying in the Sunriver area. This is the first time we stayed at the resort. We will stay again. The room was clean, and odor free. We brought our dog, and it was nice to not come into the room and say, yep this is a dog room. The walking paths are great way to get around and see the sites.
