My wife and I thought our stay was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. It was truly fantastic! The room was very clean, attractive and had a great view of what I think was the golf course, though it was covered in snow. It was beautiful to wake up to and it was a very quiet and relaxing stay.
Difficult to get calls answered and rarely returned in a timely manner. Nobody even bothered to clear the snow from the walkway, stairs or entry to our room. Requested extra blankets and waited up until 11:00 pm, but nobody ever showed up. Overall service not nearly what should be expected for the cost.
The property was beautiful. However, the service was greatly lacking. I understand changes due to COVID, but there is a lot of room for improvement. First, we ordered room delivery from Carson's Restaurant on our first night --- the order was incorrect in 3 different ways (missing two order items and got one order completely wrong). When we called to get our missing food items, again only one was sent and we had to call again. By the time we got all of our order everything was cold. They also didn't provide any silverware/plasticware with the meal (we were staying in the Luxury River Lodges and you would think the staff know there isn't any kitchenware for those who order takeout from the property's dining options --- are we supposed to bring our own? If so, let us know ahead of time so we aren't stuck in a snow storm with nothing). We then called for plates and forks, and service brought us bowls and spoons instead. For the amount of money we paid for a "resort" and the overpriced restaurant, we expected a much higher level of service. Another day we called for a bottle opener, and made it clear we didn't need a wine opener (the front desk agent even made a note). However, we waited 30 minutes for them to deliver a wine opener and not what we needed. My husband ended up trying to pop it open with a fork and got injured. The staff did quickly come with first aid and to write and incident report which was appreciated. We also wanted to use the extra pillow in the closet, but there was hair on it and we had to call for another (there was also hair on our sheet the first night). Overall, this "resort" had all the views but the service was severely lacking what we would expect at this price point. We have heard wonderful things about Sunriver, and we were hoping have a relaxing weekend, but what we got was one issue after another. I don't think we will be coming back. …
I work at the resort so I knew it would be great. My family was amazed and in awe of the resort. They want to come up and stay again. Next time they will be able to explore the resort more. Next time I won't work while I stay.
This solo trip was perfect. The walking trails through the woods are maintained even in the snow. They feel safe to walk alone but still feel like a real walk in the woods. The staff is INCREDIBLE. So kind and helpful. I walked the 14 minute trail to the Village to get coffee in the morning and that felt like something out of a movie. What a unique and beautiful get a way for one! Before this, I had only stayed here in the summer with my children. I love their summer resort featu as well. I did not want to leave, it was absolutely perfect.
