Lovely quiet location close to friends we enjoy visiting. We have been coming here for many years, and it's beginning to show its age. Nothing major, but a little TLC would help. We were in an accessible room, and the shower stall needs to be regrouted. The private deck has some green algae (it's the Pacific Northwest!) and some wood decay. The restaurant is quite good. Several years ago we had a lunch honoring our deceased Mom, and the Resort did a lovely job for us. We'll return!
Great facilities and great employees. Rooms are spacious and cozy. Love the fireplace in the room and the patio is a nice feature. Bed was comfortable. Highly recommend this to be your first choice over other hotels
Overall this is a beautiful property. The rooms were some of the best we have ever stayed at. All the conveniences in the room and nearby especially the parking which is a very short distance from each door and at ground level. We had one family member on a knee scooter and a toddler and a senior so each one was accommodated well. We slept beautifully and the rooms were wonderfully clean which means everything to me because I have been at so-called higher rated hotels and been disappointed in how dirty the carpets, bedspread, and room details were which made me feel very creepy but not this facility at all. We generally RV for this reason but I would be back to this resort and that's saying a lot if you knew me! Staff at the reception desk during check-in could have been more kind but overall it was between a four and a five for us. …
Spacious, quiet, and clean rooms, comfortable beds, and hearty breakfast. I was only disappointed that they did not accommodate a vegan diet, but I managed. Evening entertainment in the lounge was excellent, and millions of holiday lights on the grounds were spectacular! Well worth the cost.
My female partner and I went on Dec. 24th and stayed until Dec. 29th, 2022. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. The gardens and surrounding grounds were lit with hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights. It was beautiful, particularly at night. They opened up a portion of grounds and had a number of activities, for which there was a charge, unless one was a guest and then it was included with our room. It was all just great. Our room was very nice. It was a cottage separated from the main resort. The room was spacious with high ceilings, a fan and a very nice fireplace. The bathroom was also very nice with a tub/shower combination and two sinks. Soap, lotion and conditioner were provided along with a hair dryer. There was also a coffee maker. So far, all was just wonderful. the room was 5 star! BUT---- We had a room with two queen size beds. The mattresses were comfortable enough with plenty of pillows. However, the bottom sheets did not fit the beds and were not tucked in. We tried to tuck the sheets in but they were too short and as a result we slept on really wrinkled sheets. The same was true of the mattress covers. They were also loose and did not fit the beds properly and simply could not be tucked in. I know there are a lot of people like us, that sleeping on a wrinkled bottom sheet and mattress cover, simply does not result in a good nights sleep. Food in their dining room was okay but not great. The menu was very limited as well. Breakfast was provided each morning for guests and overall was pretty good. They had scrambled eggs, sausage patties, several kinds of yogurt, granola, English muffins and toast, (which you toasted in a toaster on your own), Apple, Cranberry and orange juice, and Marionberry and Strawberry compote for your toast. Coffee and Decaf were also provided. They did not have waffles or pancakes. They did have a couple of different muffins. The resort also included a very nice lounge. They advertised that their lounge had live music every night where you could dance. BUT--- The first night we were there, there was no music at all. The second night, there was a couple playing guitars and old folk music, which in our opinion would only be appreciated by a very limited audience. The songs were mostly very slow and not at all danceable. The third night, there was a band consisting of four musicians. They played a lot of 60s and 70s music and were just great. Couples could dance to the music, HAD there been room to dance! There was space for two couples to dance and they couldn't do much or they would bump into each other. The fourth night, there was a lone female playing guitar and doing mostly all her original music. Her music consisted almost entirely of slow ballads and each song sounded very similar to each other. Though the woman had a lovely voice, the music was boring and repetitive. The last night there were a male and female both playing guitars. The did play some danceable music and were very personable and friendly. But again, there was extremely limited space for dancing. We were drawn to the lodge by the advertisement that the lodge provided live music each night with dancing. For the most part we were VERY disappointed by the quality of the music and the lack of any real dance floor or place to dance. The lounge did consist of a full bar and the drinks and service were very good. There was a limited lounge menu, however, food from the main restaurant could be ordered as well. We also visited the little town of Silverton, Oregon which was only a few minutes drive away. However, because of the time of year we were at the resort, most of the businesses were closed. But it was a quaint little town and nice just to walk through. The people we did meet in the restaurants and shops that were open, were very hospitable and friendly. CONCLUSION: The resort could be improved greatly by upgrading their beds, the menu and the music and dance area they provide. To have such a wonderful place with such beautiful grounds, it was truly a disappointment. We expected so much more. I hope that management sees this review. Our intent is to provide constructive criticism in this review. And to inform those who might want to stay at the Resort, who might be expecting the same things we were, comfortable beds, a really nice restaurant and music to dance the night away. We might go back to the Oregon Resort in the Spring to visit their incredible gardens, however, we may try to find another place to spend our nights. Possibly when we go in the Spring, we will visit the Resort and inspect the rooms and check to find out if the beds, menus and music have been improved. If so, we will stay there again. It could be a truly wonderful place to stay with just a few improvements. I guess when advertising as a RESORT, one expects more than if the advertising was of a hotel or motel. A resort, in my opinion is like a land based cruise ship. A place for fun and service with great dining and a romantic setting with dancing. The Oregon Gardens resort could easily become that with just a few changes. I hope they will. It would be a place we would return to often, if they did. I would give the Resort a 5 star rating easily with the improvements I have mentioned. Unfortunately, because of their advertising and the expectations of staying in a Resort, rather than a hotel or motel, I have to give a 3 star rating. …
Our stay was great. Only complaint is that WiFi didn’t work in our room. We did report it to them. Light show was fun. Beer selection at the lounge was pretty good. The food was better than average. Car charger was a plus!
Pro: Quiet environment, lovely garden for walks, quiet cottages. Hot buffet breakfast. Spacious room. Good mattresses. Very clear reservation information and follow-up. Con: Duvet covers are too warm., even with thermostat turned down. Heat comes from a gas fireplace, so every time it turns on there is light in the room. We did not sleep well, and I would not want to spend multiple nights here in the winter. The room standing lamps did not turn on from a wall switch, so we needed to go into the dark room and find each lamp. The bedside lamp did not work at all.
This place is always a wonderful place to stay during a visit to the garden. The rooms are comfortable and a short walk to the garden, the service is awesome, and it’s a value! Can’t wait till next time.
The resort was a lovely getaway for our spur of the moment 41st anniversary celebration. The condo-like look of the resort rooms add an upscale feel to the reasonably priced accomodations. The rooms were arranged like the typical hotel room but the gas fireplace made the room welcoming and cozy. The bed and bedding were comfortable and clean. The lounge was inviting with it's large 2 sided lodge-like fireplace and live music. The included breakfast was slightly more enticing than your standard hotel breakfast buffet. We enjoyed the outdoor hot tub which we had to ourselves and the Christmas seasonal light display was enchanting. We loved the proximity to hiking at the beautiful Silver Creek Falls state park area.
My husband and I had to make a trip to Portland with a truck and trailer so we were not looking to stay "in town" we stumbled upon this place. It was super cold so we didn't really get to traverse the gardens we did hang out in lounge, service was not great at first but was very laid back and the staff was friendly ( maybe we came at a funky time) ordered some loaded fries and a few IPA's . We visited shortly after Christmas so they still had a bunch of holiday lights up which was pretty awesome, we started in G212 and the view from the patio could have been better but if you like your privacy you'll appreciate it. I would definitely stay here again, the rooms were clean and modern with a elegant but cozy feel.
