I made reservations months ago before the holiday summer rate hike through Expedia for June 4, 2022 and July 3, 2022 to July 5, 2022. Both reservations were cancelled by Oyo Coast River Inn without informing Expedia or me. I called the OYo Coast River Inn one week before the first reservation to confirm and was told my reservations were cancelled without any explanation. I had to contact Expedia who confirmed my reservation and called the hotel. The hotel told Expedia there were no rooms available and the reservation was cancelled. Neither the hotel or Expedia did anything to fix the issue. I can't imagine how it would feel to show up and not have a place to stay. My family could have been stranded there without a place to stay on a holiday weekend. Such a nightmare experience.
We stayed three nights at the Coast River Inn. We had a king room with a kitchen and a river view. The price was very reasonable. This is an older hotel which they have tried to update. Part of that was using very bright colors which we weren’t particularly a fan of. The room is quite large and felt spacious. There was an older arm chair to sit in although the arms were not so comfortable as they were wooden. Overall we were happy with our stay, but there were a few concerns. First the hot water is too hot. We had to be careful turning it on alone. Secondly there were no available outlets near the bed. Using a C-pap becomes challenging. There are outlets around the room, however, so we could plug in our devices. One concern was a lack of information in the room. No map to show where ice could be found, no information on check out time, and no information about the TV. The last was a big issue. The one piece of information we did have was a list of TV channels. However we could not find them. There were lots of apps. There was free TV which didn’t have the channels listed on the card. Finally on our last night we found the app we used at home and logged in. Just remember to log out or others may use it later. The hotel is an easy walk to the boardwalk and downtown. The staff was generally friendly and we would not hesitate to stay here again.…
The hotel canceled my reservation on my check in date since the hotel was overbooked and said they couldn’t accommodate me. Incredibly frustrating and nothing offered in place of the cancelation. I will not be booking with this hotel again.
DO NOT book this hotel through Expedia. I will never stay at a Coast River hotel since it would seem they have no problem fraudulently charging potential customer's credit cards. Expedia stated a booked room could be cancelled with no charges, however 6 weeks later Coast River hotel has charged me for 50% of the room rate due to cancellation. I have an email from Expedia saying I will not be charged. Dealing with both Expedia and Coast River hotel has been beyond painful and has led to no refund despite many phone call and time wasted. Bad business!
Excellent pet friendly hotel close to the beach & main downtown strip. Hotel staff are friendly, fast check in. Hotel has fun - modern pain theme. Price was great compared to other rooms on the same weekend.
If you're looking for a clean, nice room where you can drop your stuff and go exploring Seaside and neighboring areas then Coast River Inn is your place. No pool or gift shop, but very nice beds. Did I say the rooms are clean? If you like to do your own meal prep then get a room with a kitchenette which has a stove top, good sized fridge, microwave, no oven. Seaside is usually cool and there is no AC in CRI rooms, but the window opens wide (3 inches was enough for us in July) and the neighborhood is quiet. This facility is a few short blocks from the beach, easily walked. We very much enjoyed our stay.
We stayed in the main building. The walk to the beach was only about half a mile and the walk to other things like restaurants and grocery stores was perfect for us. We really enjoyed our room. Perfect size and very cute.
First time staying here. Good price, a few minutes walking distance to town. Room was quiet. Everything was very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Good size TV with cable. Supplies were well stocked, didn't have to ask for anything. Family enjoyed the clean bathroom with nice shower. One of the cleanest places I've ever stayed at. Thank you very much!
Using the OYO website, I booked a room at the Coast River Inn for June 26, 2021. It was pretty much the very last available room anywhere in the region for that night, as there was a heat wave and everyone was escaping to the coast. I booked 5 days in advance, and received a confirmation email and text from OYO, saying "your booking is confirmed." I assumed this meant my booking was indeed confirmed, and there was nothing else I needed to do. Still, for my own peace of mind, I called the hotel directly the day before arrival, and they RE-confirmed that yes, I definitely had a room booked. "You're absolutely sure?" I said, knowing that every other accommodation was full. "Yes," she said, "you are definitely booked; I just assigned you a king river view room on the second floor; you have a room, nothing will change that." "I'm going to hold you to that!" I said. Well. after driving 3.5 hours from Seattle on a 95 degree day, not 30 minutes before arriving at the hotel, I got a text message from OYO saying "your booking has been cancelled." Out of nowhere, for no reason, with no explanation. I called the hotel directly again, and this time I had the misfortune of speaking with an awful woman who was immediately rude, unsympathetic, unkind and just all around unpleasant. "Yep, it looks like OYO cancelled your reservation" she said. That was it. "But...I didn't cancel it, and we're about to arrive," I said. "You'll have to talk to OYO," she snapped, "that's not our problem." *That's not our problem.* I explained that while OYO may have been the ones who cancelled it, the hotel should perhaps have called me to confirm, since it didn't come from me. I also explained that one of her colleagues had JUST told me, 24 hours earlier, that I was definitely absolutely confirmed. I asked if I could speak with that previous woman about what happened. "She's not working today, and I wouldn't connect you with her even if she was," this awful lady snapped harshly at me. At this point I'm already really upset, knowing my vacation is now ruined and I'll have no choice but to turn around and drive four hours back to Seattle where it's about to go up to 108 degrees. In this moment, this kind of incredibly rude treatment was the very last thing I needed. A little kindness and compassion would have been appreciated. I was asking how this could have happened, and was about to ask if they could offer any assistance or suggestions, when, as I was mid-sentence, she HUNG UP ON ME. I was and am absolutely appalled. I've experienced poor customer service in my life, but never anything at this level. If it really was OYO's error and the hotel itself couldn't do anything, fine. But my vacation was ruined, and then I was treated extremely poorly by this truly horrible nasty person who clearly shouldn't be working in the hospitality industry. I feel I'm owed an apology. For the way I was treated, and particularly for being hung up on in the middle of trying to figure things out. My advice is to steer WELL clear of this awful establishment. Under normal circumstances, there are a ton of accommodation options in Seaside, many of which are directly on the beach instead of just the river. If you must book here for some reason, just be warned - your booking may not actually be confirmed, even if you're assured (twice) that it is. Be prepared for a very last-minute cancellation, and a LOT of unnecessary rudeness in the process.…
Clean and great rates. Room had plenty of space and everything we needed was provided! Great location and the staff was helpful and kind! The one problem we did have with wifi was addressed as soon as we called and maintenance came quickly to fix it.
