We were truly able to enjoy our stay. Our room was very clean and very comfortable and the staff was helpful. The hotel location was perfect for walking around Salem. Parking is easy. Would definitely stay here again if we come back to Salem.

This place is, of course, Grand: Beautiful tile entry, nice lounging area, wonderful restaurant and good pool. The problem is the noise! Located on two busy streets that had loud traffic all hours of a Tuesday night. Even with the hotel fans on we could hear trucks, cars and whatever else drive by. Can’t say I would stay here again.

Dear Global467829, Thank you for staying with us. I realize that having the convenience to dozens of restaurants, shopping, and access to the great park system and being in downtown traffic can be conflicting for some. We find that half of our guests prefer the views afforded by being on a City view room as you must've been and the other half like the relative quietness of the interior facing rooms. For a first timer can make it difficult to guess which is going to be most enjoyable. I would invite you to request an interior facing room if you should find yourself having an opportunity to return. We can place your preference in your guest profile to ensure satisfaction each return visit. We truly appreciate every guest, but during this anxiety around COVID-19, that appreciation has been elevated to a whole new level. Thank you again and safe travels, Scott Snyder General Manager

Recently stayed in a Grand Family Suite at the Grand Hotel. Staff couldn't have been nicer, hotel took necessary covid precautions, and the location was good. Was able to the a couple of long walks near Riverfront park through the nature conservative area. Only real complaint was the street noise. Was given a 2nd floor room upon check-in, and could tell immediately it would be loud. Asked for a different room and was given one on the 5th floor. Not much quieter. Used earplugs to drown out what I can only describe as drag racing all day and night. Not sure if the room type we requested was only available streetside, but a quite room would have made this trip perfect.

Dear JSA-Seattle, It was a pleasure hosting you and your son for the baseball tournament, I hope he and his team did well. We do feel fortunate that the location of our hotel is so conveniently located to Riverfront Park and the connections to the Minto Brown Island Wildlife area. Downtown Salem restaurants add a great deal of variety for tastes also. We do understand the issue with street noise, all of our rooms with multiple beds including the style of room you had does only have a street view. Many guests appreciate the view from the street facing rooms. We have just as many like yourself that would prefer an interior facing room and less of a view. We do have some rooms with two queen beds that are located further from the intersection that while still facing the street, are requested regularly. I do hope we will have an opportunity to host you after COVID, this is a much different place when the restaurant and all of our amenities are available! Thank you again for your trust while you stayed with us, Scott Snyder

This was our first time staying at the Grand but definitely will not be our last. From check in to check out the staff was amazing. Everyone was professional, courteous and attentive to our every request. Thanks to everyone for their hard work especially during these difficult times.

Dear Mobile61310, Thank you so much for the praise! Difficult times is certainly an understatement, I can not imagine what the guest experience would be if it weren't for the selfless guest service everyone on our team attempts to deliver. Guest counts are certainly lower than would normally experiencing the Great Northwest this time of year, and there are many levels of understandable anxiety with the COVID-19 and the social issues, this feedback is such a affirmation of the experience we are hoping to deliver even with limited options. We want to be able to have every aspect of the experience available as quickly as it is deemed safe and prudent. Thank you again,

Was traveling through Salem on our way to Bellingham to visit friends. Needed a place to stay for the night and location and ratings looked good. Front desk staff were very nice! - gave us great recommendations on nearby bar for draft beer and wineries. See Taproot review. Room was mediocre. Decor was a bit fussy (guess that’s the “historic” part) and bed had a trough in the middle. Breakfast buffet was pretty good - coffee just okay. Had a drink and bite to eat at Bentley’s - see review - not good.

Dear 999mtngrl703, Thank you for your comments. I appreciate the praise for the staff and their ability to direct you comfortably in our downtown area. Understanding that the format of these reviews makes it very difficult to investigate items that need to be looked at like the mattress you identified, if you could let us know which room you stayed in, we would like to ensure this is not a problem for future guests nor a manufacturer issue. All mattresses and box springs were switched out less than 2 years ago during our renovation. We hope to host you again for future road trips. Scott Snyder General Manager
