Union Creek is “at the bottom of the hill”, so to speak, of Mount Mazama / Crater Lake. If there isn’t any traffic or road work, the drive from the resort to the crater rim takes perhaps 35 minutes. It is one of the closest places to stay to Crater Lake that is outside the park. (NOTE: The map on... More

Stayed at the lodge because it was just the two of us, we weren't going to be there long, and it was the closest property I could get to Crater Lake. Not sure I would stay in the lodge again. Like a previous reviewer said, the rooms are tiny--barely larger than the bed. I didn't really mind the bathroom down... More

Kimberly, Thank you for staying with us and your thoughtful review. It sounds as if you love the BBQ truck as much as we do. Staying in a Lodge room is a unique experience and not for everyone. We'd love to have you back and try one of our many cabins. We're confident that'll be a nicer stay for you.... More

Cabin was simple but well appointed. Location about 20 miles/ half hour drive from Crater Lake. Cabin was clean and staff were friendly. WiFi did not work. No tv or telephone and no cell phone service so great place if you are ok with being unplugged. Cafe is very popular so expect a wait. Food is very good though so... More

Hi Fred, Thank you for choosing to stay with us. You're right, Union Creek Resort is an ideal place if you want to "unplug." That's one of the many reasons people come back again and again. We hope you will do the same. Thank you again! - Kent and Sandy Watson, Union Creek Resort owners More

The good - this place is a nice oasis in the middle of a desolate forest. The restaurant nearby is pretty good too so that helps. You wake up to a nice babbling brook nearby. But the rooms are tiny. And if you get to stay in the rooms above the office you're sharing one bathroom per gender between 8-10... More

We’re very sorry that Union Creek Resort didn't meet your expectations and that you were uncomfortable the night you stayed here. The Lodge rooms feature European-style shared bathrooms that lock for privacy. It can be frustrating if haven't experienced that style of accommodations before. Our Wi-Fi is unreliable and we do our best to let people know. It's posted on... More

Enjoyed our quick stay in the rustic Union Creek resort cabins. Small but cozy! Nice having kitchen and full bathroom. #15 is a little more secluded, which was very nice. After visiting the cute little Union Creek, we enjoyed making a fire in our fire pit and playing games at our picnic table. Had a yummy breakfast at Beckies, and... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Union Creek Resort. The cabins are indeed rustic but comfortable and clean. Picnic tables and fire pits are available and a number of hiking trails are nearby. The Rogue River Gorge is right across the street. Also across the street are Beckie's Cafe and an Ice Cream/Espresso shop. They have a nice little... More

Rustic experience! Good location if you are visiting Crater lake. Cute little cabins with a friendly helpful staff. Beckie's was good as well. Later we found Adirondack type chairs sitting over by the creek, with a fire pit, we wish we would've known about. Only negative was our bathroom was really stinky, like a bad plumbing smell, which carried out... More

I stayed in Cabin 4, which is not a fully-equipped long-stay cabin... it's more of a short-term individual motel room with a double bed ... with TONS of personality and a definite rustic, retro feel. The cabin was clean and had a nice modern bathroom, plus amenities like a hair dryer, a well-working A/C unit, a coffee maker, microwave, and... More

The property and the cabin was just as we had hoped. We were looking for kind of an old-timey roadside cabin to enjoy as we had as kids. It was delightful. The desk people were kind and helpful and the grounds were lovely. It was clean and comfortable and we would recommend it highly.

The 'resort' was alright. We stayed in cabins 19 & 9. 19 had a very strong odor. 9 was just an overpriced room, had dust bunnies under the bed and a wobbly toilet. The restaurant acroos the street and ice cream parlor was very overpriced but cute. For the price, I would have expected at least a continental breakfast or... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It’s a resort that hearkens back to a simpler era. We call it rustic comfort; similar to what you would find in the 1920s when it was first built, but now with modern conveniences and charm. You won’t find golf courses, spa services, or salons. But you will find a well-appointed, authentic lodge set amongst towering Douglas Firs in the Rogue River National Forest. It’s an ideal location to experience Oregon’s great outdoors in a simple, yet comfortably updated resort. All around is the smell of pine needles and the sounds of birds and rushing creek waters. The stunning natural setting includes distinctive Union Creek and the Wild & Scenic Rogue River, hiking trails amongst spectacular 700-year-old Douglas Firs in old growth forests, and nearby Crater Lake National Park – truly a must-see destination. ... more   less
