We loved the Prospect Hotel. It is a simple place but has a lot of what we like: history and character. We stayed in the motel section. Our room was very clean and we found the bed comfortable. A freak storm cell with lightening, thunder, and heavy rain woke us up, but aside from the weather the property and room were very quiet. The motel rooms are located to the rear of the property away from the road. Next time I’d opt for the hotel breakfast rather than eating at the Prospect Cafe, which was lousy. Dinner at the hotel was fabulous old-school comfort food, so I’d expect breakfast wold be good, too.
Found this quaint historic hotel online. Reasonable distance to Crater Lake and surrounding attractions. Comfortable vibe and clean. The hotel has a dinning room where they serve breakfast and dinner for guests.
Friendly staff. Great food for breakfast and dinner. We stayed in the Roosevelt Room which was a bit small, but we were there to go to Crater Lake, not to hang out at a hotel. Bathroom is a short distance away, but is private and bathrobes provided. Sitting on the big porch before breakfast and after dinner is a big plus. We stayed in the motel part 20 years ago with our kids - this time we stayed in the B&B hotel and it was wonderful.
Perfectly friendly staff, esp during breakfast. Place is a good spot to start your trip towards Crater Lake nearby. Feels like traveling back in time. Location very much stands out, compared to many standard places around
My wife and I stayed in #5 motel. Room is spacious, clean and have all the required amenities. What stood out for me were the older couples who checked us in. They were so kind and welcoming. I did not feel the ‘cold shoulder’ treatment that I encounter sometimes when I deal with ‘others’. These people were genuinely nice to Everyone. We could learn a lot from their attitude and treatment of others. More of like-people will make this a better place to live. Thank you for making us feel that ‘We Belong’.
A lovely, simple, clean room on a lovely property. Good, friendly assistance from the staff. Excellent alternative for staying near Crater Lake. The diner next door was a good place for breakfast and we are glad we took up the recommendation to visit Mill Creek Falls and the Giant Boulders.
Sorry to say I had a bad experience with the owners regarding the cancellation policy. I sent a cancel email but was told after I was charged that they hadn't received it and it was on me because I hadn't received a reply back. They had sent an email I hadn't received either saying that cancellations must receive that reply back. What a nightmare. I am a school teacher and told them that, who can't afford to pay for two hotels on the same night. Make sure you have clear communication with them before booking.
We stayed in Zane Grey's room. It had a nice shower. The rooms are typically small for an historic B&B. The furnishings were lovely and interesting. The history of the building is also very interesting. The Inn keepers were available, living on property. We had two breakfasts, which were hearty and tasty. Loved the entire experience.
The hosts were fantastic! 4 waterfalls within minutes of the hotel were an unexpected pleasure. The food is terrific. Historic hotel from 1980. Convenience store and gas in town. 40 minutes from Crater Lake NP.
My family of three, myself, a 16 year old and spouse are wondering through Oregon for a week and wanted to visit Crater Lake. The Prospect Hotel was a perfect get away. Everything slows down. Lovely porch, waterfalls within easy walking distance, great breakfast, and delightful, friendly hosts. Highly recommend.
