The Hotel Prairie is such a sweet place to spend a night. You can tell they've spent a lot of money and energy to update it, and they've done well. Each room features different antique furniture and decor. Our room was very clean, and they did a good job of making us feel safe in a pandemic.

Totally restored turn of the century hotel in a town where you can still imagine the horses and buggies going up and down main street. 11 miles from the magnificent Strawberry Mountains and alpine Strawberry Lake.

We travel a lot, and we were so very impressed with this hotel in this quaint little town.I work in the vacation rental business and my job is to make sure our homes are in satisfactory shape. I am very picky, maybe a little O.C. When it comes to cleanliness, and this hotel was meticulously clean. They had coffee available for us the little kitchen, which was very good! We will be revisiting this hotel again soon! The host was very king, and welcoming!

Enjoyable little gem in quiet Prairie City. The history of the restored building was pretty neat, and service was friendly. We stayed in one of the larger rooms and it was clean, simple, and reasonably nice. We also enjoyed the mountain views from our windows, and the furnished kitchenette. This isn't quite a boutique hotel, so don't go in expecting that... but it's a lot better than it has any right to be, being in such a small town that's perfectly pleasant but - let's face it - not brimming with tourist traffic. In fact, if you arrive on a Monday evening, like we did, consider yourself lucky to find a restaurant or grocery store that's open (in other words - come prepared!). Still, we enjoyed our stay. I wish every town had a place like this!

Thank you for calling us a “gem”; we appreciate that! You are right that Prairie City is a small town. I hope you are able to join us at a time when you can visit the museum, antique store, and other speciality shops. And, if you come during spring, summer, or fall; you can enjoy the outdoors. We’d be pleased to help you with the planning. Safe travels!

We stayed here to visit the John Day Fossil Beds and Strawberry wilderness. They have done a wonderful job remodeling the hotel and we enjoyed hanging out in the lobby in the evenings. There some kitchen space available so we used that to prepare easy breakfasts. We were there in November, but their patio looks like it would be fun to enjoy in the summer months. Staff service was excellent.
