The quantity and caliber of people milling about the parking lot was enough to cause me to be concerned. Homeless people, tweakers, and crack-heads all wandering around the parking log. The room I was given was on the third floor, with no elevator. I took one look at the room an requested an immediate refund. The place was a dump. The room was pretty horrible. The building was trash. There were boarded up rooms and windows. And I was even afraid to park my car on the lot. I am glad I bailed on this dump and got the heck out when I could.

I checked into room 170 (not by choice) on February 25th 2020 (checked out February 27th 2020). Upon entering the lobby to check in, i overhear as i walk in the front desk associate say "I hate this job" nice and loud for all the lobby to hear! No biggie, not my problem! Got checked in, she wasn't paying attention and almost put us in a room that had someone in it already. She caught herself just in time and gave us our room key to another room. Upon entering the room, the first thing i notice is the walls had splotches of paint scattered in different areas of the wall! No biggie, i can live with that. Upon entering the room entirely, i notice 1 inch thick dust, wall chunks and debris scattered entirely all over the floor, on the base board, trim everywhere (I really wish i was exaggerating). I go to the front desk where said front desk agent who "hates her job"was there. i ask to be moved because the room is filthy; her response, "i cant move you rooms because you are a Priceline customer"? I didn't realize Price line customers and regular customers have different types of money! I leave there already to jot down everything to get this review nice and solid. I stay in the room, for 2 nights, $116.00 plus 60.00 deposit, dirty as hell, which i cleaned myself (i am a housekeeping Supervisor for a hotel in downtown Portland) and took pictures that have been sent to corporate! I checked out on the 27th, was told by the call center associate (800 number for Choice Hotels) that 7-10 business days is when the hold comes off and gets released back to my account! Cool, i wait, i wait, i wait. Today, is day 10. I call inquiring about my deposit and why it is still not in my account. As it was hard for me to understand the call center reps, i was told "they had to contact the hotel itself" Awesome, did that, waited 30 minutes on hold to get to a rep and held another 30 minutes just hear back from the rep after speaking with the hotel itself. Now i find out that the hotel had an error and released it. Awesome, i say, why is it not in my account. Call center rep proceeds to tell me sometimes Debit cards take longer to process!!!!!!!!! I was told 7-10 business days for Debit cards, and 3-5 if you used a Credit Card!!! No where, at no time was i told that it could take an additional 3-5 days!!!!! At this point, i am seeing red and infuriated with this entire chain of dirty motels (lesson learned). I speak to a supervisor, who again tells me the same thing!!!!! I had it at this point. Steer far away from this place, i'm telling you, you will be very disappointed!!! Rooms are dirty, towels were dirty, bed sheets dirty, Housekeeping didnt even come to that room the next day to take trash, or change sheets (sucks for them cause i left a nice tip knowing how it is to be in Housekeeping). That lead me to believe that the room i was put in was actually OOS (Out of Service) by the way the repairs looked, the dust and debris not taken cared of etc. If that room was inputed in the system as OOS and not taken off, it would explain why a housekeeper never came to that room (it would not show up as a room to clean on the housekeeping boards for the housekeeper). Very upsetting and gross stay. I will never be back to any hotel run by Choice hotels and as a employee of a major hotel in Housekeeping, i am going to make sure to let other guests who ask about a place to stay know that this place is not the place and i will refer them elsewhere. Hands down the worst hotel experience of my life! Oh, and the GM with their fancy business cards on the front desk, don't bother; i have written 2x and called and he does not respond to guests or past guests and their concerns!

We checked in on Thanksgiving night and my daughter found a crack pipe in the room when she pulled out the hide-a-bed for her and her friends to sleep on. I was absolutely appalled, the front desk agent seemed minimally surprised, as if this kind of thing happens all the time, and told me the manager would be in in the morning. I returned the next morning and inquired about speaking with management and was then told that nobody would be in until the following day so I left my phone number and have still yet to hear back from anybody at all regarding the situation. I even called on again on Sunday and was told management was to be in on Monday this is now Tuesday. The lack of professionalism and cleanliness is a real shock to me since this is part of the Choice Hotel franchise, so if you're trying to save a couple bucks and have your children find drug paraphernalia I would definately recommend staying at the Rodeway in Jantzen Beach hands down.

Well aside from the mold in the bathroom, the old stained and dirty nightstands, a lamp not working, blood? on the carpet, a door that was super hard to open or close and a creaky floor this place was great! You get what you pay for. Next time I’ll pay more.

This is the nicest budget hotel I have ever stayed at in the US... Having averaged 250,000 miles a year for nearly 5 years, that's saying a lot. One needs to keep perspective... The rooms were actually really nice! Well maintained, clean, granite, fridge etc... If I was led blind to the room and told that this was a Sheraton, I would have said "OK"... Not much of a view.... Reality is cost to value. I got this on Priceline and was afraid at first, but when I walked into the room thought "wow, not bad"... FYI. The staff was fantastic.I've experienced "basic" this is far from that... It really is the "best" budget hotel that I have ever stayed in! I'd stay here again in a transition mode, assuming that I had to foot the bill...I was truly pleasantly surprised.
