The shower was covered in long human hair. Our room got changed. We were woke up at 1:30AM by security banging on the door to ask us if we knew the man sleeping outside our door. We did not. Cigarette butts on the carpet. No room servicing. No restaurant. Could order food at the bar only.
I had a difficult time making my hotel reservation from a different site - I called the Hilton to confirm, etc. I was really lucky that CHELSY @ the front desk picked up my call. What a pleasure it was to interact with CHELSY. Professional, articulate, every so pleasant, gave clear succinct responses to my question(s). CHELSY even addressed me by my last name - & I think once called me sir. How polite. She is a great ambassador for Hilton and Portland, OR. I hope that I get to meet her and thank her in person. Great job! Dr. DC Mayer
Very tiny room with little available for making coffee or tea and no availability of snack foods or stores near by (for munchies). Sad decor, particularly in the lobby-lots of black and gray. Magnetic key stopped working three times--twice for me and once for my spouse. Understaffed at the desk to help guests. Shower did not drain well, although it was fixed promptly. "Post COVID" and everyone is struggling, but they could do better.
Beautiful decor in the lobby but rooms are small. Parking is also very pricey at $55 per night when I swear I read it was only $35. Receptionist had told me they can put a rollaway bed in my room. When I check in weeks later I find out that it was never a possibility. One of my party had to sleep on the floor that night bc no one was available that late to approve a comp’d room for the misinformation. Trey and Raymond were the ones who corrected this mishap for me. Otherwise it would have been a one star experience. Stoned young guy at the front desk who made me explain the situation to him for like 10 minutes sucked. He should be fired. Breakfast was only offered as a buffet for $25. Other options should have been available at such a big hotel. Sadly that made me miss Holiday Inns. Overall I wouldn’t come here again. There are so many hotel options that this experience was NOT worth it.…
Stayed here a few nights for work. Comfortable, clean, and friendly staff. Walking distance to the business district and bars/restaurants (just watch where you step). My room on a higher floor had a really cool view of Portland.
We stayed at the Hilton Downtown one night in March because we had tickets for an event at the Newmark Theatre, just a block and a half away. I'm surprised at some of the reviews because I found the hotel very nice. The lobby is very attractive ... almost spectacular. The room was not huge but certainly adequate and very clean. I can't remember if I reserved a corner room but I got one, which provided for lots of light. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is admittedly small - in fact, a very large person might not fit in the space between the wall and sink where the toilet is wedged in - but, as I reminded my husband, not nearly as small as the cruise ship cabin we are going to be in for 3 weeks this summer. The breakfast buffet is a little pricey at $25, but there is a cook on duty if you want to order an omelet or eggs. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. We didn't try dinner (evidently the breakfast area becomes a brewpub later in the day) because Fogo de Chao is right across the street - too tempting! (be sure to make a reservation) The only drawback I saw was there is a small space to pull into for valet parking and the valets have a hard time parking the cars quick enough to avoid a backup into the street. I'm sure we will be back at some point.…
The staff of this hotel were very helpful and nice. They helped with any question. The higher floor you get the better as there are nice views. The lobby is very large and has a couple places to get food. It’s on the cleaner side of downtown. The rooms are quite nice.
Poorest excuse for a quality business hotel in my 30 years as a traveling professional. My "Conference Rate" for an academic conference was higher than the available rate thru Priceline. My "Deluxe King" Upgrade room was smaller than my walk-in closet. The temperature control made the room either ice cold, or sauna hot. Water in a room was $3, even after I paid more to stay in a closet than the room rate on Priceline, and a quarter-pounder with cheese was $21 IN PORTLAND, OREGON. No business center in a hotel where an academic conference was being held??? Really??? Hotel employee even denied a request to make a copy of a paper being presented at the conference. All- in- all, an absolutely terrible experience. Oh, yes... and the bed may have been the least comfortable "4-Star" bed I've slept in, in thirty years.…
COVID appears to have taken a serious toll on Portland. This hotel seems to be dying. I'll begin by saying that the people who work in the hotel are great. They really try to be accommodating. They just don't have much to work with. There are few amenities -- e.g., there is an ice bucket in the room, but to get ice, one must carry the bucket to the lobby bar, as there is no ice machine. Similarly, bottled water is available only at the reception desk. The market, shown with full shelves on the website, is nearly empty, offering only bottled drinks (but not water) and pizza. There isn't a restaurant. One orders from a menu at the bar and carries the food to a lobby table. The only breakfast offering is a buffet for $25/person. There are no nearby groceries or even restaurants serving breakfast, and there are no rooms in the hotel with refrigerators. So food is a problem. This is an old hotel that probably was in its prime in the 1950s. Rooms are small, housekeeping is sketchy, and there isn't room to open a suitcase without covering the air vents. There is no way to control the temperature of the room. No extra towels are provided in the bathroom. The neighborhood is sketchy. Not many people on the streets. There's a Trader Joe's thats a 25-minute walk from the hotel and the only real opportunity for breakfast fare. So if you're used to 21st-century accommodations, you may find this hotel lacking. Our decision was to check out after one night, though reserved for four.…
Frequent traveler here averaging about 50 nights a year in Hilton hotels. This is easily the worst experience i have had, and wish i had stayed at another one of the close by locations. here it goes: Good- noon check out (we left asap, but nice to have) Bad: -No hot water- at least three people mentioned this each time i was in the lobby. other reviews mention this too. really great way to start the day. -Parking- valet only at$55 per day is a little steep. I had an email stating it was comped, but it took about 20 minutes for the front desk to agree to Hiltons terms. Valet line- the hotel is right on the street, so cars waiting to park wrap around the block. Add an hour of parking time to your check in during the afternoon. -Valet drop off- because the line was so long, i had to leave my car on the back side of he hotel, per front desk instructions. The Valet refused to pick up the car, and told me to get in the hour long line. He made a threat that my car would get towed if i left it in the check in only parking too long. After connecting with the font desk, another valet finally helped out. - Valet pick up- Valets lost the keys to the key safe, adding an extra 30 minutes to our departure and almost causing us to miss a flight. - Random charges- i had a random $30 charge on my credit card, despite no note on my invoice. Good luck getting in touch with anyone to sort it out. - Room size- much smaller than any Hilton Room i have been in. Not sure whats going on here. The lobby constantly smells like weed, the rooms need maintenance, and the entre place is understaffed. This location badly needs new management (or a wrecking ball)…
